    Some of these ideas are such obvious common sense solutions that it really pains me that we haven't implemented them yet. For example, Twins already have a mechanic that makes Charlotte lose collision after ~30s to avoid them blocking the exit of basement and other similar areas, but they never thought of implementing this to other Killers as well??

    • @deadlynaya
      @deadlynaya  6 месяцев назад +13

      My thoughts exactly. Because of the Twins mechanic we know the coding is possible and does exist. I really hope these issues are brought to attention more, because I witness this kind of thing happening to newer players as well. And while its sad for anyone to have this kind of experience, the newer players especially is what I care about.
      Thank you for watching and commenting ♥

      Holding the game hostage really shouldn't be an issue but players are way too determined to make people have a miserable time, hopefully the devs will fix this

      I had a game as the Unknown where last two survivors hid for 15 mins hoping to make me DC on RPD. They ran head on and Iron Will and distortion.
      Eventually I went down to basement and the first locker I opened I managed to find one of them and hook.
      As a killer/survivor it’s messed up that people do stuff like this to make you DC.

      Bleeding out on purpose is a killer analog of waiting at the gates till the end of timer. Absolutely same mindset. And i get survivors waiting for me 8/10 times when they managed to open gates.
      Bleeding out during slugging is decent strategy and counters tons of strong survivor perks, i totally dont blame killers who play like that, and i play this way too when survivors bring some obnoxious bs like boil over with sabo + forsage

  • @iAronn

    5:00 why does it feel like we are pretending survivors can not hold the match hostage? Otz himself has addressed this when the last 2 survivors can just locker hop over and over to avoid crows forcing the killer to either go around opening every single locker that is on the map until you find a survivor, or to wait it out/dc. This isn't even possible because the survivors can just slowly move around the map locker to locker when the killer is not around. This sounds like you were saying "use aura perks to not let the match be drawn out" okay then at the same time killers could say use unbreakable soul guard and exponential to avoid being slugged. This isn't a solution to the issue for either side being held hostage. This holding hostage issue needs to be addressed on both sides and with such a well put together video showing and explaining all the problems with killers doing it, why did we not include when survivors do it as well?

    I was so happy to come back for the update and maybe FINALLY main pig again but honestly... After just a few games i feel ready to leave the game again for a bit.
    It really does feel like the new trend for BOTH sides is to hold the game hostage for no real reason at all. Half if not most my games lately have just been survivors all grouping into a corner so the hooks in that area get used up and then I'm forced to wait out a bleed out timer for the last one. Even when i manage to close hatch so they don't have any way to escape, they just run straight back to the corner and force me to sit afk waiting out a slug timer.

    Identity V implemented a solution to this kind of thing years ago. After 3 minutes of the game has passed, any survivor can call a surrender vote from the pause menu. Survivors that have died are not counted, and if there is only one survivor remaining, once they call the surrender it instantly finishes. This way the match ends, but only with the consent of every remaining survivor. If not everyone agrees, then it is not ended to avoid a 3-man SWF rage-quitting when a solo survivor is still trying.
    This would address most changes you suggested without having to rework a larger number of things in the DBD spaghetti code.

    You have really good ideas on how to prevent these scenarios! I hope BHVR sees this.

  • @bionicboxes
    @bionicboxes 6 месяцев назад +6

    the problem with the bleedout timer excelling thing is that people could fast bleedout only for a teammate to have unbreakable, meaning that the situation could've actually been winnable but- oh, whoops, your teammates killed themselves so nevermind. you could say that the fast bleedout doesn't become available if someone has a second chance perk active, but then that means the killer would know someone has a second chance perk when no one's fast bleeding. I think removing the DC penalty in this situation would probably be, if slightly, better, since there would still be a bot to take the player's place at *least* and if all the players DC then the killer can't have the 'fun' of holding the game hostage.
    I do think killers should just totally lose collision when standing on the hatch. The Devs removed the hatch standoff already, killers being able to do that really just creates a new one, so there's nothing lost in doing that. The only way to stop a survivor from using the hatch should be to close it.
    Edit: Another idea for avoiding the hatch issue:
    When there is only one survivor left, the hatch appears AND the gates become powered, but take longer to open (lets say 1.5x for an example). The gates open at normal speed once the hatch is closed. that could add some dynamic of choice, as a survivor could chose to run to a gate early if they believe the killer will close the hatch before they can find it, giving them an early start and better chance to get out. on the other hand, killers could bet on if they think survivors are doing that and ignore the hatch in favor of looking at the gates. The longer time would give killer a chance to still get to the gates if they close the hatch, but also give survivor a way out if the killer just wanted to camp it without closing.
    That not only prevents the spirit scenario seen here, but also would prevent the tactic of killers standing on the hatch, waiting to see/hear the survivor approaching, and then close it, basically guaranteeing that the survivor won't have a chance to open the gate since the killer knows where they are from the get-go.

    • @luciferriding2762

      That second idea would have to be implemented with the first as otherwise it would guarantee a killer having to slug for the 4K

    • @bionicboxes
      @bionicboxes 6 месяцев назад

      @@luciferriding2762 slugging for the 4k is different than slugging to bleedout though. slugging for the 4k means that there's still someone not downed that the killer is looking for and is not killing the others so that survivor can't have a chance at the hatch, so even if the first idea was implemented it wouldnt actually change that, since the first idea is based on EVERYONE being slugged.
      fair point though.

    I’ll give leniency on killers leaving you slugged if they just, can’t find you afterwards cause they chased a survivor the saw trying to go for a save. I know I’ve had that happen. Hell it happened one of my few survivor games. I was last alive and he seemed to be desperately searching where he had knocked me.

    honestly the easiest solution now that there’s bots is just to remove the DC penalty entirely if you played for a few minutes (for survivor) as it no longer completely ruins the game to DC. Maybe even keeping bloodpoints or losing a fixed amount rather than all. There should be something to punish DC-ing against every killer you don’t love playing against, but griefing when the game’s already over is basically impossible if survivors can just leave without penalty

    Survivors grief killers all the time.. waiting in the exit gates just to teabag etc. If the killer doesn't go to the gate, they'll just wait till the timer just about runs out before leaving.
    I only grief toxic survivors, and/or when a survivor waits through their team mates hookstates just to get hatch.

  • @HockeyM.M.
    @HockeyM.M. 6 месяцев назад +1

    i would've used the kit to start healing in their face, if they try to stop you, you'll lose collision with the hit and escape through hatch, if they close hatch, you atleast get a headstart for the chase and you beat them at their own game. But if they're stubborn like this, I think wasting time repairing gens is exactly what they wanted. (i'm just saying there was a funny oppurtunity to heal in their face)
    gameplay aside, good talking points, sometimes killers need to slug for a 4k, but there's a clear difference when they're purposefully being assholes

    I definitely think the DC timer needs t9 be adjusted. I'd rather have a bot than someone killing themselves on hook or being griefed by a killer.
    Solution 3 does have an issue, even as a low mmr killer I run across calm spirit and distortion a lot and if that survivor wants to hide all game they will, nothing a killer can do about that.
    I rarely get griefed but when I do it is rather annoying (4 slug into bleed out has been the worst).

    Would be better if things weren't solved with "specific conditions" like timers and whatnot because it is just adding an unnecessary layer of rules to how to engage in the game. It's not intuitive to play or use for casual play or beginners where game acts differently without any feedback to the player of "why".
    Removal of collision after waiting a certain time is not something that is straightforward for beginners, so it's better to just solve places where collision is an issue. Like making hatch escape reach out further to prevent body-blocking it. And from the basement, make the stairs wider. Or make a new mechanic where from inside the basement, you can open up a secret extra set of stairs up, which would be an extra objective to interact with in general.
    Or for a more general mechanic, let players be able to always slowly push a killer when bumping into them. Very slowly that is, but then you could reach hatch, get out of basement, and push a killer holding you hostage in a corner.

  • @hexat1624

    Agree with the suggestions! Now, if I would add some in favor of the killers: Once the 5 generators are finished, the bodyblock is deactivated. The progress of the doors is reversed and survivors reveal their auras and suffer blindness if they do not leave the game quickly once a door opens.(sorry for mi bad english)

    I do like the idea of being able to accelerate your bleedout if you've been down for a while and don't want to d/c as a way out. It would solve many instances where ive literally gone and found the killer and stood under a hook only for them to just slug or ignore me or a combination of both when they already won and I'd like to go to the next match.
    I also think killer needs like a basement door they can leave a match without having to d/c if they aren't feeling the match.

    @Tishbiscuit 6 месяцев назад

    These are very simple options to implement into the game. That spirit is pure evil 😂. Also, despite killers having all kinds of info perks , if the last two survivors run calm spirit and distortion, it's hopeless for the killer. Both sides have ways they can hold the game hostage. Even the killer decides to bleed out the last survivor. It's no different than a survivor staying at the exit gates waiting for the timer to run down before leaving. That with the blight is scenarios I've been in before. You got to understand a lot the times the last survivor is not someone u want to escape. I had matches where the last survivor would be the one that was clicking, Teabagging, vaulting windows repeatedly to annoy me with noise notifications, etc. So in those instances i can understand why a killer would want the last survivor pretty badly.

    I like this idea, but some of the changes make killer challenges more terrible for the player than they already are take. For instance, the Michael Myers tombstone challenge, and how sometimes survivors won’t even let you get the achievement by jumping in lockers many times the only way to get this achievement is to pull them out and force them to wave off your shoulder so they’re backstand so you can more them with the tombstone and get your achievement I don’t agree with the problems experiencing and it’s wrong for people to do that but we’re making changes for all players based on a very small minority. If it’s that big of a deal behavior should just get better at punishing grief instead of punishing all killer players because some are bad sports.

    Additionally, I think a killer should be able to concede when the exit gates are powered, to avoid the people that wait until the last second, or if all the survivors are down for 20 seconds (as to not step on the toes of Plot Twist) the killer can do something to end the game right away if a downed survivor ends up hiding in the middle of nowhere to waste your time and you can't find them

    This is important, but it isn't solely killers that are bad actors. There have been *many* times where the last two survivors just hide and hide until the other finally gets killed so they can try for hatch. No attempting generators, just slowly crouching around so as to not get birds and wasting tens of minutes at a time if you're unlucky. Hide and seek is not fun, it is just as boring and tedious as mindlessly doing generators, except it can take even longer. If the remaining generators don't have x amount of progress within y amount of time, and no survivor is being chased during that time, then the killer automatically wins. Entering chase resets the time and progress required. This may sound too kind to killers, but it's already the default outcome, if a match hits its time limit, the Killer auto wins, because the survivors failed their objective. Same applies here.
    This isn't a "yeah, but" to your video. This is a "yeah, and also". Both sides have things they need fixed, and both deserve having stinks raised about them.

  • @Polevolter

    I think these ideas need to be implemented yesterday. It’s frustrating being on the receiving end of someone’s tantrum. The only addendum I want to make that I hope isn’t taken the wrong way (my lawyer has advised me to say I play both sides with a 55/45 split) …but I think similar ideas need to be applied to survivors who artificially extend the match too. I am absolutely aware that this is nowhere near as common as killers who do this, nor is this meant to be a whataboutism. But it’s frustrating wanting to play a killer match, you sacrifice two players, and now the last two players are hiding, refusing to do generators and constantly staying away from you and evading the afk birds bc the game technically doesn’t consider those players AFK. I’ve received a lot of sass for expressing complaints about these situations, with people saying I should just DC or just bring aura reading perks every game or just go afk myself. Sure these situations aren’t common but when they do happen, the matches go on for so long that it’s so dumb that there isn’t anything to account for the players who draw out matches this way. Unlike the example you posed, the killer technically can end the match by finding them, it’s not an impossibility but it’s so difficult especially if their characters are stealthy or the map is huge, that it feels impossible. In the moment of the match, you won’t really know if this is done purposely by a duo of trolls or this is done unintentionally because both of the last survivors are solo q players and are waiting for the other to die so that they can escape via hatch.

    • @EmileDrgex

      Is more of a general design problem: 99% of games are totally unwinnable for 2 survs if there are gens left, I honestly 100% understand why going for hatch at that point.
      I can assure you that the vast majority of the time that scenario is much more annoying and frustrating for the 2 survs, left with the option of stay hidden etc (for a tiny chance of surviving) or...just to suicide trying an impossible task.

    • @luciferriding2762
      @luciferriding2762 6 месяцев назад

      I think 99 percent of the time you are right, which is why I never hide when there are just two left, its not fair to drag out the match, I "accidentally" find the killer and deliberatly make a mistake in a fairly short chase whilst staying away from the other survivor.
      However most times the killer doesnt realize I have gifted them with an easy kill and easy end game and proceeds to slug for the 4K or follow me around expecting me to lead him to the other survivor and I end up slugged for 4 minutes anyway.
      On the other hand I have still got a 34 minute recording of 2 Davids locker hopping together in the Basement. Unbelievably the killer did find them eventually. (I'd left the recording running whilst I went out, just to see how the game ended as I'd seen (with Bond) these same two locker hopping for the whole match)

    I have experienced a lot of trolling and griefing over the last decade. 95% of that has been from survivors , including as a survivor!
    It's less toxic than ever because survivor is weaker than ever, but SWF is still the power roll, particularly if you're running annoying perks (like flashbang, blast mind, that shit on the pallet) because you can then win, AND make it hurt, and there's really not much the killer can do....that game.
    Enter the dbd survivor streamer who is almost certainly running those exact perks (as you'll be able to see if you check thier stream) and is doing so specifically for the entertainment of an audience, to make YOU their clown regardless of your choice of killer. The worst people i have ever met in my life are probably from dbd swfs. Unlike killers tho, they're basically all the same. What's one t bagging flashlight clicking Nea to another. Whats one swf to another?
    What's one wholesome solo survivor streaming vs to the basement dwelling SWF that was toxic last game. Well, there's one big difference. You can watch the frustration of the streamer in real time, save that vod to look back fondly on, and if you're really lucky be immortalized on RUclips.
    TLDR: Streamers pay for our sins.
    DISCLAIMER: (because this dbd) this isn't right, or cool. Survivors are different even if they play largely the same. Also most Survivor players ONLY play survivor so they have this habit of being "toxic" but genuinely not having any malice in it, and that's putting aside that survivor gameplay mostly revolves around being annoying to the killer. I mean all the dumb bs perks in the game were put their, by people who don't always know what their doing but generally have a vision. So you know next time you're gonna bleed out that Nea, just ask yourself. "If i has her, would i deserve this." And with Nea (and Feng) the answer is going to mostly be a resounding "YES" and for the other Survivors i think you'll find the answer more often than not is "NO"

    I really like the "lose collision after 25/30 seconds" change, and the caveat for regaining collision by "moving 2 meters" is well-thought out!
    If you like doing these videos, I'd love to see your opinion on killer-specific trolling, (for example: doctor shocking people/making people scream with Iri add-ons to prevent unhooks or other actions), or survivor-specific trolling (like 'pretending' to unhook over and over to another surv, or whole squads just hiding, and ignoring normal gameplay to drag out the game) and potential solutions!
    The DBD community benefits from level-headed, well-presented ideas like yours imo! So thank you for sharing :))

    Yeah. I mostly play killer but when I do play survivor I always have allotted tea breaks and such because I know inevitably I'll have some games I'm stuck in for no reason. There's no reason for this sort of thing to still be in the game after so many years - sad to say it's more common than it used to be, but that's all the more reason to finally address it with some simple solutions!

    All of these are awesome ideas and I am 100% on systems in place to prevent hostage holding from both sides; I’ve personally haven’t experienced examples like these but I can imagine the frustration and in spite of it all you’re being a really good sport about the overall situation.
    I do have a minor concern with #3 that this would give survivors an additional way of robbing/spiting a Myers out of the Evil Incarnate achievement in the same way forever hiding in a locker during endgame collapse when the match is completely hopeless is, but this is a niche scenario that would probably make zero difference in the final outcome if the mechanic were to remain the same as it is now.
    Additionally, with #4, I do feel as though there should be a timer after all the survivors enter the dying, dead, or hooked statuses (maybe 30-60 seconds) just as a check to see if the killer is actually slugging as a strategy and planning to pick everyone up and put them on hooks, or slugging just to be a jerk. If you find the last two survivors in a match, both are injured, and you down one while the other is still in sight, then when you disregard “playing nice” as killer, then it would be most optimal to chase that last survivor down to ensure that they don’t get hatch like they could if you immediately put the other survivor on a hook, and then coming back to the first downed survivor after dealing with the second one. This similarly avoids punishing killers via a loss in bloodpoints (and possibly Adepts if this was their goal) if they were prioritizing strategicness, and as I see it, if the killer can’t find their first down after the time limit is up, then there is a decent enough chance that the killer just likely isn’t ever going to find the survivor in 4 minutes if they crawled to a hiding place. There MIGHT be an idea to be had of pausing the time limit before speed-bleeding if the killer downs all 4 survivors at once and is making an active effort to pick everyone up and put them on hooks, but I feel as though these were my most pressing thoughts.
    Honestly, I like the idea of these being implemented into the game; I feel like these could change the game in an interesting way once things become hopeless for the survivors. Here’s hoping BHVR thinks of something, at least!

    So im genuinely curious. What would your solution be for survivors who have boil over and purposely bring you to the corner of the map where there are no hooks. They dont try to find hatch. They just keep running to that corner until they bleed out no matter how many times you try to hook them.

    • @xedusk
      @xedusk 6 месяцев назад +2

      That's a good point. I had a whole team do this the other day. I actually managed to hook 3 of them, but that got rid of the only 3 hooks in the area, meaning I couldn't hook the last one and had to wait until they bled out.
      The only thing I can think of is to give the killer the option to mori them, but I can't figure out what exactly the conditions should be.

    Okay so I like solution 1 and 4 the most but I am gonna give you the other side of this problem, where survivors hold the killer hostage, Sabo boil over squad is the main offender of this problem, However there are time where I have personally been held hostage when the exit gates open cause I refuse to go to the gate just so someone can mash control a bunch. Honestly both sides have bad apples that grief/troll and call it "fun".

    Yes, it's a stupid interaction. No, playing the martyr instead of just DC-ing won't change anything. If you're staying any longer than you need to to get sufficient video evidence, then that's just foolish stubbornness and my sympathy is close to zero.

    As so called shithead, tunneler, bad killer, asshole etc.etc.etc.
    Removing bodyblocking won't solve the issue
    Most killers are not toxic from getgo, they become toxic due to survivor behaviour and spread it further.
    violence through violence is one thing that is the most applicable thing in this game and i don't think killers should be punished for wanting to at least not de-pip.
    Bodyblocking happenes rarely in a situation you describe and is a mistake on survivor part, do not punish killer for survivor mistake.
    Nowsday to rank up and do anything you need to play killer perfectly and one mistake costs you 3 kills which could otherwise translate to rank.
    Survivors rely solely on killer making a mistake while having multiple crutches up their sleeve that help them tremendously and more often than not, make even best killers look like babies.
    Reminder that for rankup you need such things like 3 separate hooks on 4 survivors, long chases, denying healing and gens which nowsday is hardly possible unless you get lucky with your map offering (4 offerings agains 1 btw).
    End. quote:
    Game is supposed to be asymmetrical.
    Survivors are responsible for 80% of toxic killers
    Killers are weaker than survivors nowsday

    Look I'm ngl I hate the whole "slugging the third survivor to find the fourth survivor so they don't get hatch" thing. Usually I just don't want to waste my time so I'll just hook the second to last survivor and take my chances, but sometimes I do want the 4k and usually the last person isn't so hard to find but then if they're ratting I almost feel like I have to take my time to kill them because I don't want to reward that behavior lmao

    Personally I like the 4th option.
    As someone who does 4k bleedout people, I'd love if people could bleedout faster when all survivors are dying.
    I literally don't hook just because the game punishes me for it. It gives survivors the chance to use SO MANY perks. Not just being hooked, but being picked up in certain spots and other stuff. I ignore all that by slugging.
    And when all 4 are slugged, I have literally no reason to hook. Why would I hook and risk a 4% when I could just leave you guys on the ground? Nah, I do like the 4th option.

    I completely disagree with remove collision solution and with wiggle forcing and increased bleedout after stopping wiggling solution.
    I use both of these techs to get my 4k when last survivor reject to play the damn game and they hold game hostage first, its their choice to just hide untill match will ends. I dont want to play random guess and "open until bar reach A" game with bad gates spawn and get survivor free undeserved escape. Thats why i stand on hatch untill last one comes to me or repair one gen to reveal his position.
    I also dont want to hiding survivor who has found teammate to escape by waiting untill i kill his teammate or untill he repairs all gens solo while 1st one still hides, both of them basically hold game hostage and force me in lose lose situation. So i wiggle out one survivor, down him, kick gen, wiggle again and this can prolongs for plenty of minutes. To solve this, survivor can help me to find his teammate and go next. They lost. No one will escape without deserving it. And i dont want to run ultimate weapon (only one viable perk to counter forever hiding surv in already won game) in every build. Thats it.
    To implement your solutions, we first have to deal with Stealth problem™ - this game never had anti held hostage by survivors mechanic, to disable their ability to just infinite stealth on the edges or in lockers. Crows are pathetic and not working. Here is how we can solve rats hostaging - if a survivor dont do anything useful (repairing, healing, unhooking) in 60 seconds, killer gets killer instinct on him for 15 seconds. Thats it. Tapping totems or chests ofc shouldn't be considered as useful action.
