This was great. So many videos don't make the specific statements of 1) let the block work for a while, 2) hang for 10 minutes or longer, 3) REMOVE the finger traps to actually do the reduction and the splinting! Most videos don't specifically tell you about when to remove from the traps.
sheer torture, not enough time for injection to be effective it took 3 men to do this reduction. Cast was to tight so had to return to hospital the day after, swelling and hematoma to shoulder, fingers like " hot dogs". Worst pain and experience of my life.
My son 15, also went through this, but without even an aspirin. After they put a cat on, and he was in pain, the dr told us that it was a good idea to do it for a second time! ! Later, at the hospital, the same "hot dog " reason.
I broke my distal radius and now I likely have a TFCC tear. I had obvious swelling and pain on my ulna side of the wrist. Why didn't the er dr. diagnose?
This is soooooo gooooddd!! Very informative, easy to understand and most of all interesting tutoriall! Thank you for this video to all the team behind it especially the expert!
I just did this in a hospital in Switzerland. No pain meds, all fingers in traps, lots n lots of weights. For30 minutes ofTHE WORST PAIN EVERRR! Drawn n quartered was what it felt like and I cried like a girl. People in room n hallway were gasping in horror…..
Turned my left wrist into an S skateboarding on vacation in Germany. They did the whole Chinese finger traps and weights for me too. That feeling of the bones creaking and sliding into place is something I’ll never forget
I just broke my wrist, colles fracture of radius and fracture the styloid process of ulna. They put me in a sugar tong splint and I'm curious, do you stay in the splint for the whole treatment or do you get a cast eventually? I honestly would prefer to have a cast, I don't feel supported or as protected in the splint. Can I ask to be put in a cast or is the level of treatment purely up to the specialist?
i fell 20 feet once and my whole hand was turned and my wrist was in shape of an l. i remember when they set it, they hung my arm by my fingers, i said is this gonna hurt they said dont worry if it does you wont remember it lol. i heard them talking and then one of them asked my mom to leave the room, then i heard the doctor say we are gonna try one more time, if it dont work we are gonna have to send him to surgery, then remember hearing a crack, and waking up while gettting xrayed. but when i think back i dnt remember any pain, they were right
Same I broke my wrist they wanted to do surgery but I had no insurance it was so painful they did hematoma block on me like 4 or 5 shots then they hung me up for like felt like 2 hours prob 30 minutes came in n started pushing and pulling it into position next I remembered a nurse was holding my shoulders down as I woke up to a bright light n heart was racing so yeah I passed out n then doctor said I think that's a good position let's get a xray
There’s no mention of sedation prior to the closed reduction. Are you using just a local before subjecting a patient to a painful procedure? I was given fentanyl and midazolam prior to placement in finger traps and it was not an unpleasant experience and was relatively pain free.
@@Reyalegro I had one from a Dr Nechleba in Pennsylvania ge gave me a few shots hung my arm in finger traps put a weight on my bicep came in after awhile and then moved it around I passed out some how woke up to bright light n he said that's a good position let's get a xray
Пока вы накладываете эту гипсовую повязку, отломки сместятся. Для удержания отломков дистального перелома луча необходима иммобилизация в положении пронации и локтевой девиации. Не очень в Америке с экстренной травматологией. Приезжайте к нам, научим.
No, you are the one who's incorrect. The flexion-ulnar deviation position is what we used to do in history, but is proven not to be better than the functional position. Your position may result in median nerve damage.
I have searched high and low. This is the best educational video on this topic. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately, the camera should be panning down so we can see what she is pointing at, that would be helpful.

I envy you. I felt every second of the 30 minutes hanging .
Great video 👌

Definitely no sedation needed if you have a good hematoma block and a little IV or IM opioid.
I have never sedated any patient, just the hematoma block has always been enough; never heard complaints!
