You guys asked for Combat PvP, so here it is, and displayed in the best way I know how: against a Frost Mage.
I uploaded this earlier, but due to constant grief from record companies, was forced to edit and re-upload. For the third time. Ugh.
Special thanks to Theris for doing so many duels with me, I enjoyed the practice. Thanks also to Sanctus for the rezzes. Cheers fellas.

Frost mages are amazing. Merc, I don't have much interest in WoW these days, but I still love every one of your pvp videos and watch them from start to finish. You're the inspiration for my own rogue and I've used a lot of your tactics to wreck Alliance on my server. Keep doing what you do, man, love your work.
You have been able to take our 5 warriors/shamans/spriest due to recoup and your bad ass skills, but this truly should be a testimate that a player of your abilty cannot destroy one frost mage. The to OP for meele. Great vid man keep them coming!
@MartinTheL33t You're a little bit expectant aren't you? Did you actually expect every video I post to be an Ultimate Challenge? That would give my channel a total life of 9 videos. Use your brain, it's up there for thinking.
@Maltemackmannen Slow weapons have to do more damage for each hit because they don’t hit as often. Fast weapons can do less damage per hit because they hit more frequently. The reason for a fast off hand is poison stacking. The faster the off hand weapon, the faster it will get you to a 5-stack of Deadly Poison. Which overall will increase Dps.
Awesome video, I usually like videos with at least some commentary though because it gives the video a more personal touch. Commentating also lets people get to know you better in my honest opinion. Great video though, looking forward to more as soon as possible.

First duel is pretty awesome, don't really see any mistakes on either side. I like that you show losing duels too - takes a real player to show the losses with the wins.
@MacJohn94 I believe it's an engineer "enchant" called Grounded Plasma Shield. It applies a 16200 to 19800 bubble that absorbs damage, hope this helps.
hey Mercader.I just want to congratulate you on your videos.Combat spec is the hardest spec to play in arenas but now whit recuperate it a very good spec to trey.I think it won`t get you to 2k rating but is nice to play as combat in arenas. Just want to tell you that you are an inspiration and keep more videos coming up.Hope you will get money one day from the videos.

Why are you guys asking about blade flurry . They changed it if your still stuck in wotlk , blade flurry is now a cleave but reduces energy regeneration . That is all , it is a pve skill . And the main reason he went combat is for the improved sprint to get rid of snare , faster and longer gouge , a silencing kick , and of course killing spree . Combat does have alot of pvp efficient talents , but lacks damage .
right at the start there with the opener. its good to see proper use of sap v an absorb class :) most rogues dont relize this can be done
Give it time to process. Quality will be dodgy for 15 minutes or so.
@GamerJuhoxa blade flurry is for multiple targets and it reduces your energy regen by 30%

@Keyboardturning well i was not high when making that comment, i was not saying that frost mages are not OP, just that they are beatable if you try hard enough..... they could do with 1 or 2 nerfs like increasing the blink cooldown by a fraction.....

@iRey360 Merc has used smokebomb and was trying to restealth, so the mage used an AoE attack to make it so that Merc couldn't stealth and stayed in combat.
hey mercader, i'd love to see more arenas or bg videos from a rogue point of view, and also, have you tried subtlety, im thinking shadowstep would help you alot in many of these situations

@Deadly995 not that much, the people that i know (myself included) that play them for pvp do so mostly for fun and they said its better in bgs when your part of a group attacking a group. in 1v1s they lose a little compared to the other specs, but its fun nonetheless. :)

@Maltemackmannen oh and dont forget Combat Potency (energy from off hand attacks) Quicker hits = More Combat Potency Procs= More energy= More Dps

TBH, mages are one of the least OP classes in WoW history. Back in the day no one played them and when a class was unbalanced, they were REALLY unbalanced. Frost mages just do a little too much damage, but during classic some unbalances used to be gamebreaking. I remember when everyone despised Rouges and hunters, then Shammys, then Paladins, then Druids, and now mages do slightly too much damage and people freak out.

@vidic245 So with your thinking, there shouldn't be any LOS in arenas, or pvp at all for that matter? LOS is a part of the game mechanic, use it or not, it's something there at your disposal.

This mage knows what he is doing. I reckon since Merc has had more experience with Sub rather than Combat, the mage would've been easily beaten in Sub.
Combat still looks good though, better for long fights. :)
By the way, how are you immune to Ring of Frost? You just don't get hit no matter how many rings you take, especially in the duels against Nexius.
@Maltemackmannen cause there is no 1.4 speed axes swords or mace or fists i believe
I'd like to see a fight versus Affliction Wlock, as a Affli Lock myself, I usually find rogues pretty easy to win
@dororoyee m8 u can use heroic leap. but unless u are facing uphill then /cry
and also another usefull thing to do against frost mages is to not charge into the fight, just run at them and open with a hamstring and save your charge for after he blinks or frost novas, and make good use of improved hamstring xD

Water Elemental has been a core part of Frost Mage spec since Classic. It's highly unlikely.
Thanks for introducing me to Dead Letter Circus, is there any reason you don't play Combat any more, if at all Merc? The people slamming it here seem a little clueless.

Frost Mages used to be the worst of the Mage specs. Fire was great for leveling and arcane could be changed for PvE or P. Cata finally decided to let Water Elementals stay permanent summons and fixed Frost to take Arcane's PvP role. it seems fair to me. Besides, Frost mages only have 3 stuns, RoF Deep Freeze (which can only be cast on snared targets once every 6 seconds or so) and Poly, which heals who they use it on. How many stuns do classes like Rogues or pally's have?
@herrheinzfritz its to do AOE damage to him since he can't do direct damage to him cause of smoke bomb every little bit helps.
mind numbing poison or is that worse than wound? since he doesnt really heal i feel like mind numbing might work better? not sure tho.
Hey Merc I noticed in most of the video you don't use Blade Flurry. Is there any reason or just forgot? Hurts energy too much?
@Mrjulle3 dont worry, SWTOR will be out soon, 3 million have applied to the beta, it looks like its gonna be an amazing mmorpg, ive already quit wow and im looking foreward for the release of SWTOR (star wars the old republic)

@dariokustura it's personal preference what makes a good MMO, just more people prefer WoW and thats why its so much more popular than every other MMO, and definitely requires more skill than runescape...
Did the rogue have Crippling Poison applied to one of his weapons? Why didn't he spec into Blade Twisting?! it practically makes it unneccessary to use Crip on anything other than maybe your throwing weapon, plus you could use a better poison in its place, like Mind-numbing or Instant Poison to burst him further down or prevent him from using as many hard-cast spells .
Also, that mage was either not trying or is really bad (or new) at PvP. Really, not kiting much at all.
@Maltemackmannen sorry what i meant was anythin but a dagger is too slow to use in off hand,
@toepax1 steps to beating a hunter... cheapshot, small burst based on spec, hunter will disengage, disarm as he comes out of cheapshot, run towards him as he flys thru the air, hes almost forced to use detterence, in my experience, the hunter is either dead, or almost dead by the time deterrence wears off and rogue still has full cd's while the hunter is limited. - also, pyrium weapon chain doesnt help, because i can catch up to u whether its 10 seconds or 4.

mages are the most loved class by blizz, portals , tons of roots some cc, great damage/dps shud suffer for a year like dk's when they sucked and pala's were OP

@quickscopebeast77 Important moments? i.e using cloak right before getting deep freeze (which made him immune to that).

@regularmatt he was on couge and counter stun all the time when the mage itself novaed or stunned :)
this just shows how useful shadowstep is in sub. i never lose to mages just because of 4 moves. shadowstep kidney shot cloak of shadows and backstab not in that order but yea. also i need to trinket out of deepfreeze

I didn't see a block in the duel that you beat him. :/ Was it on CD? Would have changed the tide of that duel.
Mercader, i rarely see you using kick in this video, which is strange against mages...(as combat).. as it provides a 3 second blanket silence.
Meaning they cant blink a Cheap shot. You also have deadly throw for interrupts if they actually happen to be casting (lolwut) a frostbolt.
Just my two cents, but yeah. Great video none the less.

@Circus2999 why use a polymorph in a 1 on 1 where he had done a ton of damage to him? do you know the effect of polymorph?
I'm PvP combat rogue too. Terrible for Battlegrounds, I'm not gonna lie but my god i own subtlety in arenas. Like of course im far less maneuverable then Subtlety and it does make a huge difference. I struggle alot more with casters. But damge i have with combat that I didn't in Subtlety makes up for it. Like if i catch them they dead. simple as. But I have to admit I miss subtlety's speed. imo I think the spec of rogue depends on the persons playing style.
