  • Alquerque is an interesting forgotten game that was popular in medieval Lithuania.
    During excavation at territory of the Palace of Grand Dukes of Lithuania in 2007, archaeologists P. Blaževičius and P. Bugys found so far the only board of the game carved on the wooden lid of the barrel that dates 15th century. 25 pieces made from bone and wood were also find on the site they might be checkers used for Alquerque.

It was commissioned by Alfonso X of Castile, Galicia and León and completed in his scriptorium in Toledo in 1283.
