I remember seeing them successfully land both boosters for the first time. I was so excited and in awe that I ran into my parents room and showed them the video. I then proceeded to show it to every person in my contacts. 😂 It’s crazy to think that there are kids who are young enough to where this is just normal and not realize just how spectacular and incredible it really is.

Somehow, I find the landing of the rocket boosters to be more amazing than space travel itself. Maybe because it just seems so futuristic. That's how the Rockets landed in Flash Gordon.

His name was Neil Armstrong He was unable to control the rockets from the 1960s because they were on off as you can see in the video. However he was able to fly the jet powered lander. I think the programming is the simple part they can rely on PID loops to balance the rocket. However the challenging part is making the rocket strong enough to withstand the deceleration and landing and carrying enough fuel to be able to land. Also they had to reignite the engine
I’m a junior in Aerospace and Mechanical rn, I have a fire inside of me that’s pulling me towards SpaceX, even though it’s highly competitive, I swear I’m gonna fucking be there one day.
Not to discourage you, but they are probably going to exploit you. Companies that do inspiring stuff like SpaceX and don't have much competition on employees tend to pay less and work their employer more hours.
Most beautiful thing I've ever seen done by man in my lifetime. Knowing the scale and forces involved (my dad was a propulsion systems engineer, working on space shuttles for the NASA Space shuttle program, so I've got a few lessons) makes it even more amazing. Nobody else even attempts things like this. It's very close to impossible to get something like this right the first time, and each failure is millions to tens of millions in the hole. So they stick to what they know works. Then along comes some brave innovators with financial backing and guts, and we're landing+reusing boosters. Incredible. SpaceX is paving the way to the future.
40 year old Space Coast resident here…I get giddy every time they do a launch, it never gets old for sure. I’m so surprised how little my kids (and most of my fellow residents) care about the Falcon Heavy launches!! They seriously don’t bat an eye! Maybe they’re desensitized due to the increased frequency of launches we have these days and/or they weren’t around during the old shuttle program days, they have nothing to compare it with I guess??🤷♀️

Either that or it was just me anticipating the noise and still being frightened by it. The recent double landing was a cloudless beauty and separation was directly overhead and spectacular.
