    I don't get the part : lambda=lambdax cos alpha. It applies only if angle between dotted lines (which connets nodes) and red line is 90 degrees. But the line is arbitrary so... i don't get it... Would you explain please?

      It's just a shortcut to visualize the sum of x and y component waves as a wave traveling at an angle. (And demonstrate the equivalence.)

    Hey, At 5:52 you say we are taking 8th part of sphere. But its just 4th part of sphere which makes formula wrong.

      Actually in video we can see only cross section of sphere which looks like a circle. That's why in this video it looks like we are dividing circle in four parts. But in reality this is a sphere. For rayleigh Jeans law we cut sphere in all three dimensions which divide it into 8 parts.

      How quick people are to declare that the lecturer is wrong when in fact it is the student who has not understood. Maybe instead of denouncing the lecturer to be wrong when you do not understand it would be wiser and humbler to request further explanation.
      I note also the complete lack of apology.

    Here's a summary. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
    1) Equipartition Principle: Every degree of freedom has energy E = 1/2 kT
    2) Standing Waves: There are unlimited possible standing waves in a cavity. Each one is a degree of freedom with energy 1/2 kT
    3) Ultraviolet Catastrophe: Therefore a cavity of radiation at temperature T has unlimited energy

      2. number of nodes depend on the wavelength of the wave. As the wavelength decreases, possible number of wavelength in cavity increases. And energy corresponding to each node is 1/2 kT.

      Yes but that's why these videos are great, you can pause them to take time to think and get your pen and paper and work out any bits that you don't understand. For me this is often necessary with mathematics :)
