In the heart of Borneo stands a cage of young, orphaned orangutans.Their mothers were slaughtered by poachers. One baby still has a bullet lodged above its eye. During the night, 4 more orangutans arrive - confiscated from illegal traders in Jakarta.

You can see the pain on Dr. Smitt's face over that poor orangutan, I bet that there was a very lively phone call at leastover the conditions of transport

Save them from extinctions, feed them and let them mate. They mate like crazy. They have way kore then one every seven years.
Oh no. Orang utan females start making babies aroynd 15 years old, ONE AT A TIME, EVERY 6 YEARS... that means max 5 per female, after 15 years of nothing...

tfs2O3 was her name Lorna? I saw that she is not on the show or any of the bos videos. She started the bos foundation taking in orangutans! Wow what a surprise they showed her and called her laura she was called something like a professional.

@tfs2O3 it's because your body fluids settle to your lower body.you should probably pee more & drink less.it would also help a great deal if you'd sleep with your feet 30 - 34 inches higher than your head with 1 fully inflated blood pressure cup around each ankle.unfortunately there is no real cure for this settling fluid disease you have...oh, no,I'm not a Dr but I did stay at a holiday inn express recently
@tfs2O3 gotta get your body moving more so the fluids disperse evenly. Don't listen to the other comment saying drink less, actually you should take lasix(water pill) and drink even more.
tfs2O3 : Definitely a circulatory problem. Possible causes might be venous insufficiency, heart failure, or renal failure.
How pathetic this all is...that there are people so poor in this world that they feel forced to shoot a magnificent orangutan to preserve fruit on a tree for their children and that the humans protecting the animals have to shock them with a collar so that they fear the poor people. Sad, sad...
tfs2O3 : I haven’t seen anyone in this discussion say they wanted to kill poor villagers. Who would that have been?

@@hellosweetheart3350 I was stationed in those areas on and off. I've seen plenty of crazy stuff. Alot of moms are not killed. Half of them reject their babies because they are too young. Media has people believing everything. There are young kids that use BB guns and shoot at the moms and babies till the mom is blind or baby falls down and they take the baby home, tie it up and play with it. I've seen alot worse too. But it's not that bad.

I truly care about these lovable creatures. I think I have watched all the videos that You Tube has. Greed is killing the Orangs, I'm sorry but greedy people need to die a slow and ominouse death. The people who pay for the deforestation need to stop and think of the exploitation and damage they cause.

I don't like these animals, as far as I know they don't serve any real purpose to the world. That being said I don't like how we take they're homes and loved ones away
What a strange comment...how do orangutans serve less of a purpose in the world than all the other animals in the world? These animals are extremely intelligent - the most intelligent animals second to man. They are beautiful, gentle, creatures who are closely related to us as human beings. Sad that your mind can be so deficit in appreciating all the miracles of mother nature that surround us.
I wouldn't call them gentle. I saw I video of Julia Roberts getting mauled by a huge orangutan. You should check it out
I also said that I do not like how we take they're homes and family away. They are intelligent animals, and deserve to have a safe home and family. But that doesn't mean I have to like them. To each they're own you know?
Justin Boldman They eat the fruit of the Rainforest, and then poop the seeds back out to repopulate and propagate plant species. Without them, we lose rare plant species as well. We all have a purpose in this food chain, even if it's not immediately apparent.
