The Cosby Show is an American television sitcom co-created by and starring Bill Cosby, which aired Thursday nights for eight seasons on NBC between September 20, 1984, until April 30, 1992. The show focuses on an upper middle-class African-American family living in Brooklyn, New York.
The Cosby Show spent five consecutive seasons as the number-one rated show on television. The Cosby Show and All in the Family are the only sitcoms in the history of the Nielsen ratings to be the number-one show for five seasons. It spent all eight of its seasons in the top 20.
According to TV Guide, the show "was TV's biggest hit in the 1980s, and almost single-handedly revived the sitcom genre and NBC's ratings fortunes. TV Guide also ranked it 28th on their list of 50 Greatest Shows. In addition, Cliff Huxtable was named as the "Greatest Television Dad".
In May 1992, Entertainment Weekly stated that The Cosby Show helped to make possible a larger variety of shows with a predominantly black cast, from In Living Color to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The Cosby Show was based on comedy routines in Cosby's stand-up comedy act, which in turn were based on his family life. The show led to the spinoff A Different World, which ran for six seasons from 1987 to 1993.

I love the Cosby Show
I will never be able to look at Bill Cosby the same way since in what he did to all of those innocent young women in the past. I believe that Bill Cosby will never have any remorse towards those women. Bill Cosby should have never gotten out of prison.
Fantastic show from beginning to end with great characters/performances from all of the actors. Never before had a black family been cast on television with parents who were both professionals (Bill was a doctor and Claire was a lawyer) It made the world view the black family in a different light. The show was funny and it taught life lessons at the same time 👍
The Cosby Show was not only the number one black sitcom of the 80s, but number one funniest sitcom of its era.

As I posted in other Cosby Show You Tube clips before. Like most of us I loved watching Bill Cosby when I was a kid & growing up from Fat Albert. Picture Pages to The Cosby Show. When the allegations of him drugging women first came out I SO didn't want them to be true & stood behind him. But then there were just to many cases with similar stories so I began to believe that they were true. After a while of him being in jail the stories & pics of him being in really bad health began to surface & there were stories about him beginning to suffer Alzheimer's & I started feeing sorry enough for him that he could & spend his last few month @ home in bed. Then just after a few months of getting out of jail he is back in good health, joking around & talking about going out on tour again & all the sympathy I had for him was gone. But just a little sad it's so hard to find The Cosby Show on TV now.
