    Long time coming Hydros vs Apex. I also go over my review of the Hydros after a year of use.
    *Hydros DOES give Audible alarms. I did not mention this. However it does not influence the score that was given.

    Great video! Curious if you will be getting the Maven when it releases? Looks awesome but wary of buying a brand new product. What do you think?

    Thanks for the breakdown. I have another build coming up and plan on getting a mastertronic and it seems the hydros would be the better fit.

    Thanks for the video. I’m planning a 80 gallon tank right now and am looking into a controller mostly for the hair bones basics like probes, sensors, maybe in the future lights and pumps. I just found out about the Hydros today and I’d say I’m leaning a bit more towards it but still not 100% sure. Would love a recommendation!

    I think you did a pretty good job on this review. I could argue a couple but for the vast majority I agree. The main ones I disagree on is the alarm and durability scores. For the alerts, the Hydros should score better just simply because it has in addition to notifications, built in visual and audible alerts. For the durability rating, they Hydros should get a better score due to its IP65 rating. As for cost to own, I don’t think you can penalize Neptune for offering more features that may need to be replaced. If Hydros offered those same features, they would also increase their consumables costs.

      Can not really rate durability as it’s only been out for a year. That is an assumption of course. Just cause something has a rating doesn’t mean it is going to be more durable. As for the alarms and alerts I believe I gave them the same score cause they both do a decent job at it.

      Also, I agree on the cost to own. At the time of this video I think the Apex is more expensive to own due to it's increased price in "consumables". Of course as Hydros releases more it will cost more to own but at this time most of there parts are cheap to replace if they go bad out of warranty is what I was trying to say in a round about way.

    Nice Review thank you, I am more inclined to Hydros, but Neptune is been here forever, and they will be here forever, with Hydros I am taking a chance hoping it will..

      I think Hydros is going to be a leader soon with the amount of gear they keep making and the ease of use.

    Over the last few years I have been finding Apex and Neptune System gear in general to be unreliable. I have been eyeing the Hydros but the Klir v1 was rushed and I was one of the lucky people that got screwed buying that product. Waist of money IMHO. That makes me hesitant to try Hydros.
    Anyway. HYDROS has been out for a few years now. It’d be nice to see an updated video comparing Apex abs Hydros.

      I will do my best to make one when I have time. Been very busy this last year with personal matters. I still have all my Neptune gear, 43 modules and never have a single issue with any of them for many years.

    The displays score, I don’t like. U can buy a tablet for under $99 for the Hydros same as Neptune. And is better to program. So to me that needs to be 1 for both. Neptune’s display is terrible while each should get a point for being able to have some sort of display.

    • @ReefAndReptileAutomation
      @ReefAndReptileAutomation  2 года назад

      It is not just the display aspect. The alarm/audible tone is key here along with the fact that using a tablet still requires you to use an app so it is not technically a display. Again as I said in the video it is handy to have a display just to see information which only the Neptune does. I like having a quick glance.

    • @ProducerReef
      @ProducerReef 2 года назад

      @@ReefAndReptileAutomation i like that but it doesn't come with the display, we still have to purchase on either way but as far as the point u just made, i can agree on that aspect so Neptune wins on the display...

    • @ReefAndReptileAutomation
      @ReefAndReptileAutomation  2 года назад

      Again it is the fact that there is a display at all. Having a remote audible tone is also nice if you have your Hydros inside a cabinet. Again these are small details but I think the score reflects it.

    Disagree. The Apex is difficult to set up. Any advanced programming frustrates programmers.

      It’s really not. Watch my videos and you can easily pick it up. Advanced programming is the best part and if you are a programmer it should be super easy for you.
