I'm an English 'country bumpkin' but I think that most city dwellers will agree. A lot safer here then, than now. Good work. 👍

It wasn't safer lol. And I'm not just talking about crime (Jack the Ripper and similar stories exist for a reason), but the air and the water were so poisoned by the coal and the waste that mortality, especially among infants, was high

Another melodramatic out-of-towner who genuinely believes you might get stabbed for stepping outside your door in That There London.

Most of it wasn’t nighttime, though! But it’s 100 times better without the pointless music, so thank you!

The bells sounding at 2min 34 seconds I can identify, they are the two quarter bells and the hour bell at St Pauls Canedral and are housed in the South west tower , the one with the clock face on it.

@@jameshoyle5918The streets look very unsafe. Potential Mugging at every corner just as described in Arthur Conan Doyle's books on Sherlock Holmes. Must have been more dangerous for unaccompanied women although I see fo many of them walking casually in this video. Perhaps they used to carry a sharp knife for self-defence. Vigilant justice must have been the norm.
