"Carmen," a novella by Prosper Mérimée that became an opera by Georges Bizet, is about an affair between a cavalry soldier who turns outlaw and a Gypsy girl with too many lovers and too few scruples. In this Gunsmoke episode Connie is Carmen but she's luckier than the original, who was murdered in the end.
