This movie touched me. Two lost people a woman and boy. Both needing to belong and be loved. Grown people can destroy young children life. THEY are the true MONSTERS.

Mislabeled as a "horror" flick... this is one of the best mystery dramas I think I've ever seen.
Profoundly well written and well acted...
A young woman returns home to the Ozarks from the military to look for her wayward brother and attempt to restore her family torn apart by her deceased father's alcoholism....
While looking for her brother she finds a 9 year old boy who has been surviving...living alone in the woods. The boy, whose parents were deceased, had become the victim of local suspicions based on the local traditional lore about the "Howler"....a demon that lived in the woods. Even the young lady is suspicious for a period time after bringing the boy into her home, saying..."I need to know what you are".
Overtime the the two overcome the looney local belief system and her devastated past to bring eachother a very real, and much needed healing...

I've gotta be honest. This movie was not what I expected it to be. I thought this was a horror movie with a scenario where Cecil was gonna be revealed as an evil humanoid paranormal entity that was making Fern sick. I am so glad that turned out not to be the case.

A very unique movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. I watched the first 15 minutes out of curiosity and finished it out to the end ALSO out of curiosity. Amazing acting by the young male actor. Very convincing townsfolk and locations. You really have Ozark Mountains vibes. Not exactly a horror movie, but gritty at times. Some bad language but not overdone. No intense violence. Much is implied. An interesting story intertwined with family dysfunction, mountain superstitions, life in a small town, and redemption. I very much enjoyed this and recommend it highly.

Awesome movie. He's a spiritual druid healer. When people don't know anything about these things they live in fear and make stories.
I just had to watch this movie again today. I liked it last night and today I like it even ten times better. It's very quiet...so peaceful.

This was a great movie. I think the people in those times even though it was probably as recent as 20 years ago really believed all that folklore. They grew up with that and it’s hard to break a lot of those patterns because they’re uneducated and they don’t know any better. I’m glad these two found each other, even though it was hard, they worked through some issues and came out stronger in the end. I’ve been on a journey with the music of the appellations, and this song is perfect for that. Well worth of watch. ❤

Fascinating storyline. But the scenery was simply beautiful..The old cabin would come a treat, with a whole reno inside and out.
That's mean to chain up a dog like that well she eventually took it of the chain so thats good really good movie it's true how Society often treats lost kids they condemn them instead of helping them find themselves again once in awhile you do find a kind heart that will help a child out

But there was actually something quite chilling about it, just because the story felt so ancient.
Woefully mislabeled as a horror movie. Drama is a much better label. The story was superbly written and performed. Kudos to all involved. It's very rare to find a movie that keeps me interested.

This film kept me guessing the entire time. The environment was so authentic to the backwoods of the Ozark. Poverty as well as drug use has plagued the area.
The Characters each owned their parts and were very believable. Superstitions abound the area passed on from generation to generation. Was Fern the main character being
duped by the superstitions or were there none? I was absolutely intrigued to find out the answer. 😳🤔
The music score, editing, background were all fantastic. I felt like I was there with the characters. I would recommend this movie 100%. It is NOT the slasher horror story that I am not drawn to. It is a well thought out and suspenseful film that is emotional in places and suspenseful in others. Thank you Movie Central for presenting us with this gift! 🥸

Wow this really touches my heart and makes me cry. Children with abusive parents and traumatic past need so much love and care to heal their wounds 😢 they are in so much fear and pain.
They haven't made a word that describes what I'm feeling. A horror flik that doesn't show one bit of actual horror. But boy its there. Yes by God, there are monsters.

That's a very awesome movie it not just a horror but it's a very touching movie I love how the young woman took the boy in her home and took care of him although there was some doubt about him and finally she got to the bottom of the situation and took him permanent.

He brought two birds and cooked them. He said he knew which berries are poisonous. There are lot of paw paw trees whose fruit is edible. Lot of small woods, broken tree branches in the forest to burn and keep the body warm.

Good movie, this is how parents branded their children and make them believe that they are trouble. Eventually it is the parents that believing in thinking that they are always right that pushes the kids away into the wilderness and no wonder people becomes violent in future. Good movie with a sensible climax...
