Mike, I remember 35 years ago dropping most of my load in Denver, then driving west on 70 in clear sunshine with 2000 lbs, come out of the tunnel to a blizzard of white to skate to the bottom, thanks for the memories
Thanks for sharing your videos. Driving has always been one of my favorite things to do, I can't drive anymore due to medical issues but, I can still enjoy the open road through your videos. Thank you so much.
I Used to drive that road between Vail and Stapleton. Two round trips a day, 6 to 7 days a week. Longest was 30 straight days. Your video brings back some fond memories and snow storms. At 6:03 you talk about the headwinds coming down the mountain. The aera your approaching on the left side is Georgetown reservoir the winds come down the hillside on the left and across the Lake. Winds strong enough to lay semi on its side. One night a van had all the windows on the driver's side shattered from gravel the wind picked up. Liked your driving patience is a virtue steady and easy is best.
Watching your videos definitively helps me be better driver around trucks. Understanding what you're dealing with also makes it a little easier to take when one pulls out to pass on a hill just before you get to them.
I just love watching you. You brighten my day. I’m stuck in bed due to illness and I feel like I’m there with you. The roads in the mtns you drive are the same ones we drove. Now retired in Florida - reliving life through you. Keep trucking- keeps me happy for those years past.
Just started watching your videos; enjoyed them thus far. From Western Canada (prairies) so those storming roads bring back memories; 25 years ago I was on escort duty so I did many miles from our center to the capital of the province. Retired now but unable to travel much due to wife's health problems; we are good in Canada due to medicare coverage but unable to travel to states due to pre existing conditions; cannot get health coverage. since I cannot travel through your part of country I am able to do so riding shotgun with your videos. I was though this area in late 70's from Salt lake city towards Cheynne. Brings back memories.
I miss those beautiful mountains. I've driven all over the western slope. I've been out of a cab and in Casper WY since 2004. That drive between Denver and Grand Junction is full of amazing sites. Even in a snowstorm. Thanks for sharing. I'm homesick for the mountains, and for trucking.
Yee haw that's better than a roller coaster. Thanks for letting me ride with you. Don't just hate when people can't drive. Love the videos.keep them coming. God Bless and for sure be SAFE!! LOOK FORWARD. To the next ride along ♥️🇺🇸💮
That wind was definitely brutal last Saturday, I drove from Canon City to Monument in my full size Ford van and when I got to my destination my hands were all sweaty from gripping the steering wheel so tightly.
I tell you these snowy videos are the best. 60mph winds I saw on the sign. Do you still drive with those conditions? Wow. I fell asleep watching this. We had a busy day putting up horse fencing along our front area near the road. We have issues with homeless walking in and taking things....like our nicely seasoned firewood (we worked very hard chopping down our neighbor's dead walnut tree) and now tonight I noticed my half-circle brick border thing missing...must have needed it for their fire ring. Homeless ....got to love them......
Yo TOP GUN!!! I give you a 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 you are the pro! The king 👑 of the Winter ❄️! I’m a trucker myself but seeing you moving 55MPH with gust wind of 60MPH that is incredible! On top of that you weigh only 10,000! Dude you should making some $$$$$$ in Alaska now! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good video I could hear the wind and you can see it's cold too 10 degrees is not nice it's freezing I'm getting cold watching this I'm in northwest Arkansas and it really is nice compared to what your dealing with be careful out there
Disembark your ski lift, you may not make it down the mountain. The wind will do its best to blow you right back up the mountain! That Eastbound traffic gave me an awful pain in my gut, that is, the complete standstills of traffic; perhaps some resorts shut down, 'cause their lift chairs were dangerously swinging in the wind. So, everyone's ski day just went bust, is what I can figure. Especially happy that we're GJ-bound, Mike!
Wouldn't it be something else, to have a chalet on top of a hill, in Silverthorne, overlooking trouble spots, around the bottom/lower half of the Western "Ike's Grade" of I-70? From the comfort of a living room, we could then watch all of the spinouts, the chain-reaction wrecks unfold below our feet. Invite a few friends over, and set a spread of tucker, just like you'd do to watch football on TV!
Interesting video I just got a new 2020 t680 and the jake was set to not come on under 35 mph I got it changed at the shop to not come on under 15 mph That worked a lot better I like you videos, I am feathering the throttle right along with you
I've been watching your videos for about a month now because you've been to many places that I have been going across the country on my motorcycle four different times not to mention I live in the Tacoma Auburn area...live right across the street from where you're probably heading in Auburn that huge distribution center... I work there as well and now that I have a 55 in screen TV it's great watching through your front windshield
vern wallen and Mike...Right backatcha from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year. Safe travels.
@@PanamaRose Merry Christmas! I'm from Bakersfield, and actually was in Tehachapi about a month ago, it was a great visit, watching a basketball game and watching some trains at the depot and having some good food at Kohnen's Bakery and The Burger Spot!
Aahhh, Elk Mountain, Quleays Dome, gorgeous drive but like the old song...you “tighten up” sometimes! 😂😂😂🇺🇸 Drive safe, Bro...doin’ my drivin’ now from my recliner...thanks to you!
That video was shot on a Sunday afternoon. All that east bound traffic are skiers and snow boarders going back to the Denver area. All truckers should know , never head east on I-70 on a Sunday afternoon.
i love driving in the snow however this is better because I can see the view without the concern of driving and I can have an open beer without violating any law
Moving the axles redistributes the weight on the axles. For example, if I slide the rear wheels on the trailer a bit forward, the like a teeter-totter weight comes off the nose and the drive axles. We can also slide the 5th wheel trailer hitch forward and back and get the same effect. This is important because trucks are licensed for a certain amount of weight on each axle. So as long as your overall weight is right (legal) you should be able to set your axels to balance it all....that is provided the guy loading the trailer didn't put 6 skids of batteries in the front and 8 skids of feather dusters in the back....
That sure is beautiful country. I'd like to know what you think is the prettiest road you've been on? I think my favorite is 80 east out Salt lake around sunrise.
Have you ever had a trailer blown over? I know you go into San Bernardino, CA sometimes and the wind in Cajon Pass can really be tough. I've seen as many as six(6) big rig trailers on their side.
11:28 - Oh wow - so NOW you use the wipers (and the washer function too) great - maybe you'll use them a bit more often on this trip (nah probably not)
I don't think I have seen a vid in traffic with snow. Different you must have to concentrate more keeping an eye on others. Is it my TV or did this video end suddenly? I was enjoying it too. Anyway Thankyou. I had my Riding Shot 🔫 hit for the day. Always enjoy! ✌
I'm confused, I thought you had just left LA, maybe the confusion is all mine, what's your opinion about the speed limit in California, I'm from the high desert here in southern calif, but still the speed law sucks , you don't go anywhere in a hurry, and its hard not to push the limit, anyways ,be cool and stay safe, thanks for the video.
I did that for 3 years. Ugh 🤢 In Fact on this date 2010 I was going past the Statue of Liberty 🗽 for the first time. On my own birthday in the middle of the night in a semi
Hope those cars had full gas tanks🤔. BTDT in a large winter traffic jam all most running out of gas.😱. Sons in Denver told him to To be careful on those winter mountain roads.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, the way Mike goes thru the snow.
Thanks for showing me the real America. Great channel.
Cheers from Australia!!
I love your channel man. I really love the night drives in snow but I am enjoying all
That wind was definitely brutal last Saturday, I drove from Canon City to Monument in my full size Ford van and when I got to my destination my hands were all sweaty from gripping the steering wheel so tightly.
Great to see LA and then the Rockies on back to back videos. It really shows how different the places can be in America.
Hi Mike : Blowing snow almost as bad as if it were snowing. Enjoyed the ride, be safe the rest of the way to Ca. Thank you Edward
7:21 seeing the Georgetown exit brought back memories. I used to get off and drive thru Georgetown on my way to Guanella Pass.
after you came out of the tunnel the east bound lane looks just like out highways in the afternoon. Thanks for the wonderful video. Stay safe!!!

I remember those horrible winds blowing through Black Forest and I-25. Typical day in Colorado.
Yup. Can be real tricky.. ☮️
Stay leader of the pack! Stay safe and warm!
I just plowed out from the aftermath of this storm! Hello from Maine, the exhaust pipe of the country!

Thank you Zina.. being from the mountains 10 above is actually very nice . We are used to -20
it reminds me of driving in county kerry around the mountains but without the snow love the driving videos
Haven't been down that stretch in years, buddy. It's a geologicial beauty!!

Beautiful with the snow
Good morning
God bless and prayers for the mountain man and all truckers 👃

Awesome so you're a mountain man as well peace neighbor..

Can`t believe all the traffic on the other carraideway, What the H are they all driving about in the mountains in the snow?
Colhonk it’s frightening I did it for 3 years

Very interesting never been there in winter in fact about to head to place without snow
That’s very true about not using your breaks if you don’t have to even when it’s summer save gas and breaks
another wonderful VLOG keep on trucking

Explain more of the trucking lingo, like the axles and why you move them?

Ready to goooooooo✌❤ I have a question, what is a jake??
damn, that is a lot of traffic stuck
Damn...crazy traffic going EAST before the tunnel.

Very educational, thanks
That sure is beautiful country. I'd like to know what you think is the prettiest road you've been on? I think my favorite is 80 east out Salt lake around sunrise.
"not a whole lot of traffic"..... except for the other side.....
Looks like normal Sunday skier traffic going back home and to the airpot.
I wish that your drive was longer, a lot longer Riding Shotgun, you make it look so effortless and safe even kind of fun! 😊
Haha, watching here in San Bernardino...
If you are light and you know your coming up on very slippery roads will you slide your tandems to the back to put more weight on your drives?
Oh good - a video of a CLEAR WINDSCREEN
Oh but as it's only at 0:01 - it's to be expected at the start of a trip eh?
I LIKE TO DRIVE IN SNOW AND ICY ROADS!!!
That makes two of us.. ☮️

Alot of East bound traffic! Where did you go? I wasn't ready for it to end yet.......... Be safe. Peace be with you!
Your job is hard you deal with the weather but you have to deal with other cars on road
traffic on the east bound side is brutal...
stopped4 no apparent reason.......cause they can't drive.........just STOP......
Bottleneck goes down to 2 lanes going through the tunnel. Looks like normal Sunday skier traffic going back home and to the airpot.
11:28 - Oh wow - so NOW you use the wipers (and the washer function too) great - maybe you'll use them a bit more often on this trip (nah probably not)
