Right down the road from me, was there Friday. Then hiked Salamonie Saturday. Potato Creek is a nice spot that’s close by but Salamonie is our go to spot that isn’t to far.
I was impressed with Potato Creek, lots of diversity. But I like Salamonie for getting away from people, and nostalgia (it was really the first place I ever hiked/camped growing up!)
I remember going there when I was a little kid when it first opened in the 1970s. The lake wasn't open to fishing yet which drove me nuts because I loved fishing when I was a kid. It was loaded with bass, I would catch a frog and toss it in the water and a bass would gobble it up before it made it back to shore, this was very amusing for a 10 year old! For whatever reason I never went back there, but here I am 45 years later eyeing it as a lake to fish from my kayak.
Neat nature center! Great facts too. 👍 I've never watched birds fish on an ice pond too. 💪 Great hikes in your intro! I see Cloud's Rest in there (one of my favorites). Also, do you prefer shooting at 30 FPS like in your intro graphic? 😀
Of all the hikes we've done over many years, Cloud's Rest is our favorite. I do shoot mostly at 30fps, mostly because I can do so with all my cameras (GoPro 8, Panasonic cam, and phone.) It just makes it easier when editing, I used to get some glitches in my final videos, still not sure if that was because of camera settings, or limitations of my computer. But in certain situations I do switch the GoPro to higher frame rates.
Thank you for this video and thank you Catfish for the wonderful photography. I'm considering this hike for my wife and I. God bless.
It's a beautiful area, good for birding obviously, very quiet and serene. Enjoy!

Any time outside is a good time! Thanks for watching!

Great memories! I've got to imagine the fishing would be good.
Looks like a very nice place for bird watching and a enjoyable hike👍👍
Thanks! We didn't know what to expect other than a hike around a lake. We were pleasantly surprised.
I am not a bird watcher much but I do like the trails. 😀
Catfish loves wildlife, and we just don't have much here in Indiana! So the birds were a nice addition to our hike.
Loved this hike!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching! I imagine the hike is even more beautiful in the spring.
So many birds. Very cool!
We really didn't expect so many birds, we were pleasantly surprised. Thanks for watching!
