Love your videos & it seems clear that this guy was racially profiled, but for what it’s worth, I live in NJ and we do get hassled for ANYTHING we have hanging from our rearview mirrors. End qualified immunity! Make each officer personally liable. Take settlements out of the corrupt police union's pension fund instead of from innocent taxpayers. Maybe when cops are liable for misconduct instead of innocent taxpayers, they'll cast out the dirty cops instead protecting them.
When you ask for a supervisor, tell them, "I'm accusing you (criminal cop) of a felony: "Deprivation of civil rights under the color of Law." Tell them (on camera). That is the "reason for my request for a supervisor." And ask how to file a complaint accusing him of a felony? If they ignore the felony charge, they may have to justify disregarding it.

This cop has a hell of an eye! Spotted an air freshener on a car that was going in the other direction. Wow. If these air fresheners are deemed to be an obstruction by law enforcement, then shouldn't the sale of these items be prohibited? Millions of drivers have these on their mirrors. Ridiculous.
You know once you are pulled over for one reason they can notice other violations and ticket you for them, right? Anything hanging can be considered an obstruction. Doesn't mean they can't be used anywhere else, to make them illegal. I don't think that argument makes any sense.
So where do you hang CAR AIR FRESHNERS???? In your bathroom or kitchen??? The cop is the party not making sense. He turned around followed the driver and then claimed he pulled him over for not signaling his turn. So which is it? The air-fresner or the turn? The cop only mentioned the air fresher infraction after the driver challenged him on the turn signal charge. I’ve been driving with air fresheners hanging from my rear view mirrors in every car I’ve owned for the past 30 years and I’ve never been stopped for them.
I’m not sure of your ethnicity but, I’ve literally seen a police officer run through a light and turn on the cherries/berries for a car with the lights out. I saw the driver as he went by and he was white. The police get behind him, saw what color he was and turned off the lights and stopped the pursuit. I have never seen a more blatant “white privilege” moment in my life.
Sun visors block a driver's view of the road ahead, and they are required by federal law. Yet the air freshener, much smaller in size, hanging off the mirror is considered obstructing his view? We need POLICE REFORM in our country. I hope the man followed up by getting the police dash cam recording and brought this racist cop's actions to his superior.
Funny how the air freshener is considered an obstruction, yet that EZ-Pass tab - which is also used by millions of NY/NJ drivers to pay local tolls - is not, even though it is stuck to his windshield and is also between the driver's sight and the road. If there's a law against obstructions like air fresheners, maybe EZ-Pass tabs stuck to the windshield should also be included in that law? But lemme guess, they won't do that because the state governments make lots and lots of money from them, right? In other words, it's an unfairly vague law, and this officer took advantage of it in an attempt to avoid any punishment or embarassment from performing a stop that was likely racially motivated.
