When the Route 17/ I86 bypass around Parksville was completed it sucked the last breath out of the hamlet. If you had driven up Cooley Road past the ice cream stand and the post office you could have filmed the remains of the old Paramount Hotel. It looks as depressing as the rest of the place, a remnant of the Borscht Belt. I still remember well when the Paramount was open and packed...God I am feeling like an old fart. Thanks for sharing just the same!
I own a cute little lake house in Parksville. Yes the center of town looks deserted and abandoned, but don't be fooled, the lake community is alive and thriving.
Parksville now has a new music venue called New Memories plus a small eatery that’s in a double decker bus! There is also a small new shop that opened next to Cabernet Franks. Revival of a town starts with the arts! It feels more a little more lively than when I visited 4 years ago
Went there as a kid late 60s early 70s from the Spring Lake Hotel we hike there and go for ice cream at Jerry & Lill What a shame what it looks like now. 😢 Thanks for sharing this video

I shouldn’t reply to this because of how old the comment is. I live in Parksville, The town is fine all of the property is owned or is up for sale. The reason it’s deserted looking is because people stopped caring about it. There is a hotel up further my parents used to work there, It blew up after a laundry room fire. The town has suffered a series of terrible events in its lifespan. Although people attempt to revive the town it gets no attention. Due to it being a “ghost town” specified by many RUclips videos. The people who care for the town show up for the town events.
