  • So I was asked loads of times what was the difference between the non CP and CP cars. Before I started changing mine (in fact the week before), I called up those nice people at Chandlers Brighton to see if they could lend me a non CP MY 16 M3/4.
    Unfortunately we had a few issues with a) weather, b) technical issue with microphone and c) me being a plonker and leaving behind some kit so apologies for the 2 part nature of it.
    I also forgot to talk about the seat differences. Honestly unless you have your lumbar on full or nothing, you'll be fine.
    If you've seen this before, it's because I published it a while back and then had to take down the channel as it was linked to work and Google wouldn't let me remove the link!

    Had my ZCP order placed but backed out last 2nd. As a DD I felt I needed an ounce of Cush for my wife and kid (not totally selfish) actually it was the hardness of the CP seats that put me off not the lack of lumbar, wimp? Maybe a bit. But for my ears I did include the MPE with CF tips...Should be niiice. Thanks for the reply and really enjoy your clips, well done.

    Thinking of going with the 437' 19's since presently an option, thoughts?? Yet again a fine clip.

      Haven't had a chance to put up anything over the last few months due to work but I'll get something out shortly. In short, I've ditched the 20' 666 wheels and now run 437's instead. With my coilovers, the day-to-day setup now is vastly better as have much higher sidewalls. Put the 295 19 PSS from the M5 on the rear - very good traction.

    My favorite reviewer has disappeared. Ended up ordering ZCP with 437's, waiting on delivery and can really use another clip!

      Sorry, just been hugely busy with work and something had to give. I will have something up in next couple of weeks as I have changed a lot and learnt huge amounts which I need to share.

    The burbling in the CP keeps the turbos spooled at low rpms in preparedness for quick throttle performance.

      @gtsussex3467  7 лет назад +2

      You'll find on both CP and non CP in Sport + there is distinctly less lag with turbos staying spooled. Wouldn't say CP is any different. Burbling is merely cosmetic, not that I'm complaining as it still makes me chuckle, especially as my exhaust hasn't been standard for a while now. Will get vid out when get a moment.

    What exhaust tips have you fitted on your CP and how do you find the finish holding up against the usual bmw pitting on the darker tailpipes?

    • @gtsussex3467
      @gtsussex3467  6 лет назад

      They are the Cyba exhaust tips. Bought them via PM on Bimmerpost. Have to say nearly 30k miles on, they have held up really well.

    Could the slip in the rear be explained by differences in tyres? Or were both running on the same set?

    • @gtsussex3467
      @gtsussex3467  7 лет назад +1

      Nope, they run different sizes. I've run had the standard tyres on 19's on my car and yes, I think a lot of the difference in slip IS down to the tyres and I question just how differently they actually are set up. Way behind with posting a video to cover all of this (will get it done soon!).

      Supreme UK The slip is because of 2 things. The comp pack has a revised, stiffer suspension for better handling as well as wider tires. While a regular m4 comes with 255's in the front, 275s in the rear, the comp pack uses 265s in the front and 285s in the rear. Same setup as the m4 gts.
      wider tires, more grip.

      GTS is a little different as it runs on Cup 2 tyres rather than MPSS or Conti's which CP has as standard. Also runs 19's on front rather than 20's. I've got a set of Cup 2's (in the same sizes) on 3rd party rims that I'm using for track days - completely different ball game once they are warm.
      Agree though that the difference between 275 and 285 rears is more noticeable that you'd imagine. I now run 295/19's (standard M5 tyres) for road use. Grip is in different league to the 275's.

    What colour is the CP?

    The wheels are the best thing about the Competition Package. Can you order those wheels for the regular M3?

      Not that i am aware of. They are starting to appear on Fleabay. I'd sell mine to be honest (have sat on a shelf for a while now as fed up with daily ride) but would dent my trade-in so keeping them.

    Why would you get these two cars together and not drag race to see the difference the extra 25bhp makes. Spoilt the whole video for me.

    • @gtsussex3467
      @gtsussex3467  7 лет назад +19

      Because there is no difference between them. It's all a load of crap that BMW use as a marketing ploy. We all know that the standard car makes far more than quoted anyway. A drag race would have shown absolutely nothing. 100bhp difference yes you would see but 25bhp (if it was even 25bhp) would be down to who pulled away better.
      Of all the things that make the CP different to the standard car, the power is the least important as there is bugger all difference.

      I've driven probably 15 M3/4's now and only the GTS actually felt any different and actually I wasn't hugely impressed as didn't think it was that much faster. The torque curve on the non CP and CP are near enough identical. That 444bhp is at 7000. I had hoped it would make the power delivery a bit more spirited at the top end when standard car flattens but it just isn't the case. So no, I haven't driven both cars next to each other at the same time but I've been in and out of both CP and standard cars enough times to know there is just nothing in it. Amazed you were pushing out over 500bhp - about 460-470bhp seems to be around the norm on a CP car. Now a mapped car IS a different matter simply because the torque curve takes a HUGE hike. I've done 5k now with a map (was dyno'd at 537bhp) and it is just a different car. Makes the standard car feel very pedestrian regardless of whether it's a standard car or CP.

      GTSussex I totally agree when you say the top end flattens. It's something I wouldn't of expected and wouldn't of ever found out on a test run with a Bmw sales man sat by my side ha. But since having the car 6months from new iv noticed it and if I'm honest it puts me off the car. I'm just waiting on the new x drive M5 :DD

      @gtsussex3467  7 лет назад +1

      Completely agree, the new M5 looks very promising. Looking forward to a test drive! In all honesty a bit too big for me these days but still keen to try!
