Not quite as unorthodox as people assume. While its kind of not normal for a male lion to have a life long friend of another species, its absolutely normal for a wild male lion to have a life long friend and companion in another male lion. In the wild male lions form these friendships early, either while still in the Pried as youngsters, or shortly after they are forced out of the pride. Its why you will ALWAYS see two males in a pride. A male that has lost his partner will always lose the pride to a competing pair, even if he is individually more powerful than either of the competitors. Those two males will be together for the rest of their lives, its very unusual for a male to survive the death of his friend by very long. So male lions actually have an inbuilt predilection to make at least one lifelong friend.

Our family has always owned wiener dogs - always rescues. Every one of them was brave beyond sane measure. They are brave to the point of almost being self-destructive. They don't think that anything is beyond their grasp. A dachshund picking a lion for a friend? Not shocking at all. 💗
true, my family when I was growing up had a couple of Dachshunds, one met an early end due to his "bravery." One day we had a package delivered to our back door step inside of our gate. Our dogs had access to that back porch and would stay out there most of the day waiting for us while we were gone. We got home that day and Spencer was his name, we adopted him with that name, was hiding. He never did that, not that when we were getting home. We ended figuring out that he was injured. The mail man had kicked him or something. He definitely was the kind of dog that would get aggressive if someone was intruding, despite his tiny size. It was an injury to his back and it became intermittently a problem for him, it was sad. Then one night my parents had a bunch of people over and someone accidentally stepped on him or something, finishing off the injury and paralyzing his back legs. We couldnt afford the surgery or anything so we had to get him put down at age 8. The other guy we had until he was 16, he was like a brother to me. I have a special place in my heart for Dachshunds as a result. The whole point was yes they are super brave little buggers. Spencer was known for accidentally escaping through our front door and bull rushing much much larger dogs and trying to engage them. He had this interesting tactic of barrel rolling from side to side when the dogs would come at him. Luckily the dogs were usually leashed and controlled by their owners. And luckily none of them seemed to perceive an actual threat from him. They would be more confused it looked like.
For some reason our family always owned a miniature dachshund and a full-size German Shepherd. The dogs ate, slept, played and explored our rural neighborhood together. When Gretchen, our 5-pound dachshund, figured out that she could tunnel under the chain link fence of the dog enclosure so that she could go exploring, our 80-pound Shepherd, Angus, found out very quickly that he couldn't fit into the opening Gretchen had created, so he figured out how to scale the chain link fence so that he could join his best friend and roam the neighborhood together. I convinced my parents to simply leave the gate open so that the dogs could come and go as they pleased without fear that Gretchen might get trapped under the chain link fence or that Angus might get tangled-up trying to scale it. It all worked out really well as the dogs always left, then came home, together...and they stayed together until both of them finally died of old age.

@@goosemoose4343 that’s true but you have to understand from this video that they have clearly built a relationship, that lion could not eat or drink without seeing them, so why would it feel the need to hurt them at all when it NEEDS them to survive? Now I’m more worried about the lion accidentally laying down with its heavy body, but this lion seems to be aware and is being careful. If the dogs are taken away, that lion would surely die. What is the solution that you have? It seems the dogs were never once hurt or maybe one of them was hurt and it was and why they were separated in the first place. Now I do suggest perhaps the lion could find another pride in a sanctuary and more greenery in its compound (i don’t know much about prides so correct me if I’m wrong if they accept a disabled lion). Another idea is they probably shouldn’t let the dogs in the compound but just at the fence, I’d be fine with that also. I understand the concern and good on the caretakers for at least questioning if they were doing the right thing and wanting to keep the dog safe. It does seem as though the lion is incredibly gentle with that pupper and enjoys the company.
That is unmistakably two best friends.. So sweet. That lion probably felt so lonely as a cub with his legs. The little dog gave him the companionship he needed to feel loved..
A google search does inform me that this story is actually true, however. Such a rarity these days, where so many of these vids are using an artificial voice with a fictitious narrative featuring multiple different animals. And then you look at the comments, and completely lose faith in our own species....
Narrators often get obvious details wrong to get people to comment, just boosting "engagement". It's all about the mysterious algorithms, and here I am contributing to it.
@@abeartheycallFozzy Some use AI voice, even though they probably have very little English. Many others just puck a narrative out of their fundament, using pics (getting found out because they use obvious different animals). I can understand how it would be unsafe, but the lion was truly gentle with them. I’m sure even today, the lion is still being gentle!~ ❤
One bite and its all over for the doogo.....wild animals always have that possibility to happen....that's how it could be unsafe.
I wouldn’t also mind hearing a recent update about them and reports of incidents of there are any.
But other than that, the lion is being well taken care of and looked after, and so are the dogs
@@rosenia5409 If you really believe the lion wouldn't eat or drink without seeing them, you need to permanently retire your pipe.

As a lifelong dachshund owner it’s not surprising that 1 would befriend a lion. They’re very brave and behave bigger than they are. They believe they’re in charge. Most don’t know that they’re bred for hunting badgers, so brave and adventurous is in the DNA.
This life is much richer with a good friend even for some time!!!!! love this videos thank you and happy new year

Brings tears to my eyes
Why? It’s a fake story lol
With all the craziness going on in the world, thanks for sharing this beautiful video.👌
Dachshunds are the greatest gift from heaven 🥰
Their barks are loud, but their loyalty and love is even louder.
They can be friends w a bond so deep they physically get ill when separated.... but some humans cant see the simplest things..... this made me happy.
It's heart-warming, at this time of year, to see such a rare example of inter-species friendship. And I'm especially grateful to see a straight-forward posting of this beautifully true story (without the asinine overabundance of previous versions' sausage jokes).
Going to save this story. It’s precious! ❤🐶🦁❤️
It’s actually a sad story. Google it.
I love seeing this video

dogs arent only mans best friend, any animal is lucky to have them.
Amazing how much empathy and compassion animals have, to bad humans aren’t the same.
I believe there are some humans who possess true compassion
Dogs were created by humans, do you think wolves would do this in the wild?
@@ilovedogs2642 I read a story about a friendship between a grey wolf and a brown bear in the wild. They hunt together, sleep together, and eat together on whoever catch the meat.
I don't remember animals volunteerin' or settin' up sanctuary to take care of their fellow injured, sick, abandoned animals, only humans has the compassion to do that, you're delusional and corny, you've been watchin' too many Disney cartoons!btw, animals kills and eat each other .
Anyone who harms an animal doesn't deserve the gift of life.
Amen.
The animals on people's plates are just as cognitively advanced and emotionally complex as the lion and dog in the video.
@fading_trails And their delicious too
@Lugo1908 lol yes!
@@Lugo1908 When people think it's acceptable to participate in the degradation of animals who suffer just as we do, it becomes easier to see how they can be convinced to do it to each other.
Well I definitely got a lot more than I bargained for by watching this. I knew it was going to be cute, but I had no idea I was going to be sobbing like a baby by the end of this thing. This is one of the best things I’ve seen on the internet in a very long time.
Its all about bonding from a young age and milo nurturing bonedigger when he was at his most volunerable age with care and compassion that built that bond just awesome!!!

I'm 64 in January and that video is the best video I've ever seen on you tube. I have 2 dogs and love all animals (except snakes) I will take that video in my mind when I leave this earth. The wonders of love the wonders of life! Every day is a school day no matter one's age or experiences.
❤👍
I understand the concern and good on the caretakers for at least questioning if they were doing the right thing and wanting to keep the dog safe. It does seem as though the lion is incredibly gentle with that pupper and enjoys the company.
I'm sorry, did hear the lion's name is Bone Digger?
Awesome.
Thanks for sharing that fantastic story...talk about lifting my day.

IMAGINE somebody messing with that dog 🤣🤣🤣
2:12 can i guess why that guy lost his legs? xD
😂😂😂
Pretty sure that's the guy from Tiger King. If so, he lost his legs in what he described as a zipline accident.
The lion was hungry
Milo got to them.
@@MarilynOPossum wtf thats propably really him, i still dont believe that but whatever
Risky waiting till he's as hungry as possible before bringing the dog back

That is unmistakably two best friends.. So sweet. That lion probably felt so lonely as a cub with his legs. The little dog gave him the companionship he needed to feel loved..
Aw this is so heartwarming what a lovely pair of animals
My two favorite animals, lions and dachshunds. This video is amazing. My old dachshunds name was even Milo. I love it!
Good story, uplifting.
Being alone took more than the lion managed. Good it was found out.
It's amazing how people on here can't tell that there are multiple Dachshunds in these videos - even totally different colors lol.
Even darker still, there is a trend of people deliberately putting an animal in dangerous situations, so the 'hero' can be seen rescuing it.
Very heart warming. Too bad very little humans have this with each other. God bless
I just love this stuff it always puts a smile on my face. Animals are truly a gift from god.
So sweet. Melts my heart.
1:45 How did the guy lose his legs?
Lions probably
He gave them to the lion for food
LMAO, didn't think it till I read this
He accidentally wandered into BoneDigger’s brother’s enclosure, BoneEater.
I'll bet all the animals there have disabilities like the lion.
Milo wont get bullied at school.
Have you been bullied?
That is beautiful so sweet. I'm glad they changed their minds.
Heart-lifting story, thank you for that.
what a sh&tty life in that enclosure, why not a sanctuary with some room.
Bingo.
I know I'd go off my food as well if I was stuck in that he'll hole of a prison.
Great story. Bone digger had 2 friend only and they took that friend away. This was the 1st ever lion/dog coalition ❤
Little doxies don't know they are small 😅 They picture themselves as big Rotties!
It's incredible how fierce and gentle these creatures can be.
