I'm a huge fan of Chevy and owned an 18 Traverse in the past. The best mid size SUV in my eyes. Chevy just really needs to update the interior ASAP. Having a 5yr old interior in today's market is crazy! Chevy has the foundation, just needs to bring its once top seller up to par like they did the New Tahoe and Suburbans!

The only thing I'd do different is get the tow package with the trans oil cooler. Even though I don't tow, 7 people and their luggage on road trips in Florida, we'd climb a grade at 75 mph and the trans cooler temp warning would flash. At 65 mph it was fine. I can't wait to see what else they add to this line. Don't underestimate Chevy these days. They are an excellent balance of all things without thw ridiculous mark ups
back in the 60s chevy used to dominate the 1/4 mile races in the musclecar area, there were also other dodge, amc ,ford that were very good, but the point is gm has been around a long time---when you sell junk, yoiu dont last long.
I have a 2013 LS with 114k. It's been solid so far. Had to replace the evaporator. That's the only non-routine maintenance item so far. I dont think these are 250k mileage vehicles though. Getting ready to trade it in.
Had my eye on a Traverse RedLine. Finally decided to go with a Palisade. The 2023 Traverse interior and dash is like my 2014 Impala. Come on guys that was 9 years ago. You don’t deserve my money. Someone else ate your lunch. To add further insult to injury, I couldn’t even sit in one let alone test drive one here in the Great White North. Chevy needs to get it’s act together.
100% agreed. See my other comment. Seems the designers responsible for the interior are only interested in selling to current Chevy owners, hoping they don't realize how outdated it really is. I also chose an AWD Palisade over this. Apart from the slight differences in acceleration and some cargo room differences, the Palisade is superior in every way. Mostly the driving dynamics. Chevy is an immediate, almost twitchy steering and throttle response compared to the more relaxed, almost sport-luxury feel of the Palisade. A little less immediate acceleration unless needed and the steering/suspension is tuned with less understeer. Ride and interior noise superior and interior design not even in the same decade.
I LOVE the Traverse over many of the other Chevy's. I rented one in 2019 and fell in love with them I was cruising through Virginia beach like I was the only one on the road and that felt Great! SALUTE to Chevy on those Amazing vehicle's BUT I would REALLY LOVE to see a 6.0 or 6.2 V8 engine and name it the TSS, Turbo Super Sport and a panaramic roof, crome accents, two tone stitching around the steering wheel and doors and seats, the shifter, TSS stiched in two tone in the head rest or upper seat areas. An aluminated TSS insignias in the front grill and rear hatch right were the Chevy bow tie is or in it. Install a 10in woofer with a 500 watt amp mated to the Bose system in it already. Now THAT would be a thing of Beauty..😍 🚙
2023 Traverse but Premier trim (Redline edition) ; We just took the family on a road trip to Disneyland sat 6 of us comfortably - very happy with the purchase so far. Interior info center looks slightly outdated (the 2024 is the needed refresh) but it gets the job done and is nice everywhere else that counts.
I am in agreement with you Joe regarding the front fascia. A functional air vent would have been nice but the execution of fake vent with fog lights still looks good. One half zonk Chevrolet from two Italian car nuts. 😂
I can do without the sun roof. I like having them, but never really use them. With that said though, RS should definitely have ventilated seats. A bench 2nd row should also be a option on upper trims. And the chrome by the front headlights definitely looks out of place on this trim. The dark chrome would look so much better.
The Traverse is Chevrolet's three-row family SUV and its solution for the minivan-sized hole in its lineup. Unlike the Suburban, it's built on a crossover platform rather than underpinnings shared with GM's pickup trucks.
Being in the south Texas I don't want the sunroof!! I recently rented a Traverse for a road trip and loved the handling and gas mileage we got. So much so, to the point of thinking of getting an RS. The one big knock I would give it is the cupholders on the side doors, way too small.
I just brought a 2022 Traverse LT. To me, it is better than the Ford Explorer because it has more room in the third row seat and cargo storage area. I love the look of it too
So it has a 4WD and AWD option? which option is best for snowy highway driving ? I always thought a vehicle was either AWD all the time or your vehicle was 2WD drive with the option of 4WD
I don't feel like I am in a coffin, at least not yet! Classic, Joe! You got many more years ahead of you my friend as long as you lay off the Twinkies and the the Royale with Cheese! Just watching this now as I am considering purchasing a Traverse. I do like the new style but not too keen on the turbo engine. The NA V-6 is more appealing to me.
Not a big fan of all digital dash, call me old school, but I like analog gauges. Bought a Traverse High Country, absolutely love it. You get the soft touch materials, sun roof, vented seats, and the electric 3rd row. Looked at Telluride, ended up with the Traverse.
i heard that hyundai owns their own steel co,they even make ships- i just feel we should back american vehicles and i am not sold on all the visible tech,i value more ride, composure ,practicality and quiet and sublime elegance.
Love this car so much. Really fun to drive, spacious, practical, and suspension is great and very comfortable. But and always but. It is 2018 technology and nothing new in it. No 360 cameras, no special button for it, a lot of plastics. It could be the best of the best among its competitors if Chevy introduce more refined design.
Had never really given Chevy much thought in the SUV segment. That all changed earlier this week I needed a rental for a last minute 10+ hour drive and this was one of the cars we could pick from. Only grabbed it because it was so big but the drive was fun and amazing. Very good highway gas mileage for the size and the HUGE tank meant we only needed one fill up to get to our destination. Was originally leaning towards a Sorento but might have to go back to the drawing board after that drive.
we just bought a 2023 traverse tonight after looking at literally everything. the traverse interior is comfortable and feels good. between it and the telluride its all cosmetic.

Yes, I would rather buy the Traverse RS than the Telluride. Also, I wish Chevy would come out with a Traverse RS slightly off-road version. I realize that GMC has the Acadia AT4 (mid-size suv), but it's just an appearance package that doesn't have any of the off-road features like Rancho shocks and stronger suspension like the GMC Canyon mid-size truck has, plus its 9 inches shorter, so it has less cargo space too. If Chevy would come out with a "Wilderness" type Traverse I believe it would sell very well. Have you heard if Chevy has any plans of coming out with a slightly off-road version of the Traverse?
Someone please explain why palisade & traverse are doing that split light thing? It leaves no room for fog lamps and low headlights do give you the ground 18:15 spread that fog lights do How can they get good ratings byIIHS if rain and fog conditions will impede driving in these cars?
I'm waiting on the traverse to have the digital dash and a few more amenities for families. Then it will be my next buy! I miss my old traverse but I plan to have another one once they update a bit more.
This suv needs a 60 sidewall. Those 55 are like low profile suv tires. Go hit a pothole in NY or up north going 70 and those 55 profiles won’t survive 1 winter
Thought I was sold on the traverse because I think the exterior looks better than the telluride, and it's slightly larger...but man. After test driving in person, inside it feels like you're in such a dated car. The cameras look like it's from a flip phone. And with the price tag, just couldn't stomach it. 2023 telluride dominates in every category, minus the slightly less cargo space.
I have had my eye on the traverse for how they look on the outside, but can’t commit to buying for the same reason! The traverse interior dash just doesn’t look completely up to date. Very disappointing.
I really like this SUV. It's quite big and very practical. at the end of the day it's really up to the buyer in question. The Chevy is sufficient as it is and a good mainstream SUV but if the buyer is looking for something more premium then the Telluride would be the more appropriate choice
Downside is it's a KIA. Kia has always felt cheap to me. From the road noise and material, to the reliability. I like KIA from a design perspective, but it's like an putting makeup on a garbage can.

I’ve had a 18 Lt cloth and a 21 RS Traverse for the money they are great mid size SUV’s. We recently switched to a 22 Tahoe and I’ll say it’s not a significant more amount of room on the inside, if you’re looking for a mid size SUV with basically full size room this is your suv.
@@daebruh2034 many factors. 1. The 21 RS, I had leased with nothing down and with the crazy car market was able to trade it in 8 months later and get $4900 more then the lease buyout. Trying to decide between the two. I will have to test drive them both, which is tough because there are no Tellurides around here. I’d also like to know more about the heated seats, winter options…as I’m in Idaho. I will be buying in March. Hopefully I can figure it out by then!

Chevy delivers a good blend of performance and practicality in the Traverse. My understanding more interior space than a Tahoe. The Tahoe/Suburban of course a more upmarket vehicle with a legendary history. However for $30,000. or so less the Traverse seems to offer a lot of bang for your buck 👍🏽
I'd customize that RS with chrome, vinyl pad on top, simulated woodgrain on the outside and interior and an oversized Chevy hood ornament on the very front of the hood.

Getting ready to trade it in.
a review that can be trusted, I would definitely watch your review before I negotiate a car.. thanks a million
Then it would cost a lot more. I love it just the way it is in the RS trim or LS leather.
Needs an interior update and fast !
It does
Your wait is over 😂
This is awesome. Button, nice engine, no dumb screen that takes over the dash. Only thing missing is a hitch.
Drove across Canada this summer. Logged over 8,000 miles and achieved just over 30MPG!
I don’t know so much about better but they both definitely have good interest in them.
Dang Joe… brought back some great memories bringing in the GI Joe action figures ❤
Load up all the Joe’s…Fighting Cobra and Destro ! Yo Joe !!
people always told me, youre such a doll. they never called me an action figure
A great looking SUV with a naturally asperated V6 = B I N G O......thanks Joe and Lori
Sounds like a win win!
I am in agreement with you Joe regarding the front fascia. A functional air vent would have been nice but the execution of fake vent with fog lights still looks good. One half zonk Chevrolet from two Italian car nuts. 😂
I would get this over a Tahoe because it's actually not far off the cargo capacity
I can do without the sun roof. I like having them, but never really use them.
With that said though, RS should definitely have ventilated seats.
A bench 2nd row should also be a option on upper trims.
And the chrome by the front headlights definitely looks out of place on this trim. The dark chrome would look so much better.
Excellent points Dale
The traverse i went to look at had 2 sunroofs. They looked amazing!
I love my Traverse High Country!
Thanks Mike for sharing your actual ownership input.
My local just got one 2023 blacked out RS AWD Premier. Immediately caught my eye! Just over 52k is pretty steep tho.
That is pretty steep for sure Gus!
Holds more twinkies than the explorer. I'm sold.
“I keep pumping out kids, I don’t know where to put em” 😂 👏🏻 Bravo!
You are awesome! Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
Mindbuildingsolutions Approved!
Excellent video and content.
Not a big fan of all digital dash, call me old school, but I like analog gauges. Bought a Traverse High Country, absolutely love it. You get the soft touch materials, sun roof, vented seats, and the electric 3rd row. Looked at Telluride, ended up with the Traverse.
It's 2022 Lol nobody does analog no more lol 😆 😂 I understand tho analog is so 2010 and below
i heard that hyundai owns their own steel co,they even make ships- i just feel we should back american vehicles and i am not sold on all the visible tech,i value more ride, composure ,practicality and quiet and sublime elegance.
I still like that GM has the LGX v6 in the line up. Some people cant get past the timing chain issues of tge LLT, but that was ages ago.
That is an excellent point!
Have they proven to have fixed that problem?
@@D0NTsmokeCRACK I've ownded a few LFX powered cars now without any engine/mechanical problems. One ate a bank of injectors.......num num num.
Thanks for letting me share it with you
more “technology” = more things to break
Raiti Deserves one million subs
I really love this All-new 23' Chevy Traverse.
Terrific job with your content as always Joe.
Still my dream Chevy SUV I wanted to buy.
love ur videos and enthusiasm as always! love all the details you talk about on the cars u show!
Thank you for this review. I have a Traverse and lately I've noticed no one is comparing the Traverse to other vehicles. I wonder why?
Same thing I thought too. I have a 2022 model and no comparisons being done really
bias, itsw not first choice of the youger gen-as a vehicle it competes vs anyone with its attributes.
they spend all their time with foreign vehicles that have the youth hypnotized, but chevy is the heartbeat of AMERICA
we just bought a 2023 traverse tonight after looking at literally everything. the traverse interior is comfortable and feels good. between it and the telluride its all cosmetic.
Why did you choose this over the Palisade..? The Palisade offers much more and the interior doesn't look like cheap plastic... Was it cargo space..?
@@tavo3234 the pallisade doesnt offer any more from what i can see and i dont think the traverse interior looks like cheap plastic any more than the pallisade. they both have alot of plastic. theyre similar quality of materials, just different layouts.
some marry korean women, some american gals
How is it holding up?
@@nabeeljohn5726 the wifes running the dogshit out of it (15k miles in 8 months) and its been oil and gas at this point. she did have a deer hit the rear wheel well and broke the plastic trim, but thats her fault.
Oh Raiti, they should clone you, and have each, and everyone of you work at the Cheverolet dealerships across the country as a sales representative. You could sell a new Chevy Sonic with no engine with your personality! Great review of the Traverse!
Why would you want a traverse over a telluride ?
New 24 redesign offers an "offroad" Z71 pkg
Someone please explain why palisade & traverse are doing that split light thing?
It leaves no room for fog lamps and low headlights do give you the ground 18:15 spread that fog lights do
How can they get good ratings byIIHS if rain and fog conditions will impede driving in these cars?
I'm waiting on the traverse to have the digital dash and a few more amenities for families. Then it will be my next buy! I miss my old traverse but I plan to have another one once they update a bit more.
Only the high country has the digital cluster.
@@frankiexv4533 my premeir does.
Your wait is over
It's a neat SUV like the red on black thanks for the video and the angles!
can you disable that beep? It looks like i can easily be annoyed by the second beep
This suv needs a 60 sidewall. Those 55 are like low profile suv tires. Go hit a pothole in NY or up north going 70 and those 55 profiles won’t survive 1 winter
What u think which one is better grand highlander or traverse?
Hi Joe, on a different topic. How is your Shelby gt350 running? Any problems? and how many Miles currently? Thanks.
That 3.5L V6 is a great engine. I’m glad they stuck with it.
I thought I saw another review that had an optional moonroof? That’s a deal breaker for me. Moonroof is a MUST have!!
Very disappointing.
dated???i wonder what you would say of me at 71. hell its a 23 for petes sake
Just in time for a new video, great work Joe and big up to you and your crew.
My wife likes it. With 2WD does it power steer in the corner? Or have a pulling affect?
Rs Traverse is a nice 3 row suv
I am so glad that you approve!
One of the best reviews , loved the GI Joe comment!
Love the space inside truly 3 row
Most are not truly three row
I really like this SUV. It's quite big and very practical. at the end of the day it's really up to the buyer in question. The Chevy is sufficient as it is and a good mainstream SUV but if the buyer is looking for something more premium then the Telluride would be the more appropriate choice
Downside is it's a KIA. Kia has always felt cheap to me. From the road noise and material, to the reliability.
I like KIA from a design perspective, but it's like an putting makeup on a garbage can.
@@jmay5583 lol that's an interesting comment😂
@@jmay5583 so you’re saying that a pos Chevy is better than Kias? 🤣
I agree 100%. When you hear Kia you think trash. The Chevy is obviously much higher quality but the Kia just looks much better
@@jmay5583 that’s exactly what they are, surface beauty. One has to wonder how they keep those cars so dang cheap, and when you can’t see the cost cutting is when you need to worry because it’s there they’ve just hidden it better.
Why did you guys go to the Tahoe ?
@@daebruh2034 many factors.
1. The 21 RS, I had leased with nothing down and with the crazy car market was able to trade it in 8 months later and get $4900 more then the lease buyout. (My lease payments were only $430 a month, so I got to drive it for free and make around $1500)
2. I was able to get my new Tahoe for $5,500 under MSRP. (so technically I’m up again with this car market)
3. We also wanted to get a full size suv, so we can tow a larger travel trailer.
Trying to decide between the two. I will have to test drive them both, which is tough because there are no Tellurides around here. I’d also like to know more about the heated seats, winter options…as I’m in Idaho. I will be buying in March. Hopefully I can figure it out by then!
Heated seats and steering wheel work great. No complaints on those two features
I was looking at a Telluride but im not willing to pay the mark up price of an additional 6 grand
Yea you’re not buying a telluride at msrp. Add at least 5k and that’s if you get a deal
@@FalconMidget l passed on the Telluride altogether Dealerships were saying no mark-up here l get there then it’s a 6-8k mark-up they can keep it right where it is!
I test drove both and the Rs definitely felt better. For some odd reason, the telluride felt bulky compared to the traverse lol
great to see you are supporting American brands despite having low reliability
No sunroof? I just bought the exact same vehicle and mine has two !
Awesome video ! Great job!
Joe do more midsize SUVs
Chevy delivers a good blend of performance and practicality in the Traverse. My understanding more interior space than a Tahoe. The Tahoe/Suburban of course a more upmarket vehicle with a legendary history. However for $30,000. or so less the Traverse seems to offer a lot of bang for your buck 👍🏽
Love the newer traverse that is so pretty with the red color that is amazing joe and great job Chevy on the traverse no sunroof zonk
That's a good lookin' ride!
I'd customize that RS with chrome, vinyl pad on top, simulated woodgrain on the outside and interior and an oversized Chevy hood ornament on the very front of the hood.
Nice looking vehicle but should be full digital display. No excuses in 2023!!!!
Thanks, I was trying to see if these had a tow hitch and you confirmed! yay!
Just curious, can you get these with the 2nd row bench seat, or do they only come in captains chairs?
You can get bench seats on other trims of the Traverse but not on the RS trim
What's the interior quality like?
