major style change. went from girly but dark to badass. love both.
They used to sound like Green Day mixed with Paramore, but now they sound like a mix of Motionless in White and Get Scared.
Not that that's a bad thing btw, I like their old and new stuff

The reason i like the album my dear is because Adam Lorbach (dude on bass from Home Grown) wrote most of the songs which is why theyre so melodic and catchy! Its like Home Grown songs being sung by Ashley haha

If you like this album you should check out Home Grown, Adam Lohrbach’s band before NYD. He is the bassist on this album and the sole songwriter of all but 1 of the songs. In terms of sound, this is really more Home Grown album 4 than it is NYD album 1, since after this Adam left and they changed so drastically in sound.
@@t_will_official yup, been listening to Homegrown since 1996. Heard their music on a little radio show called “Radio Free Hawaii” way back in the day. I think Surfer Girl was the first song I heard from them.

I have more respect for Ash than I do for most people. I've never met her, or seen NYD live. But the sole fact that one night I was extremely upset and tweeted asking what was wrong with me (due to a lot of bullshit I've been dealing with lately) and she responded letting me know that there's nothing wrong with me. For someone (especially a bigger name like her) to talk to someone they've NEVER met to let them know they're perfect the way they are is amazing. She's beautiful inside and out.
Proper miss this era of the band. That first album holds a dear place in my heart. Don't go much on their newer stuff.
This is the first song i heard by them, then i forgot about them for like 6 years. i search them up again and holy shit. They are not this band at all anymore. I mean, they're still good but totally different!
Saw them in Dallas last night with BOTDF, never ever heard of them, i met the lead singer and she hugged me and was proud that i'm a new victim, i love this band now.

That's because Adam Lorbach was the mastermind behind it. He's from the band Home Grown. This album is basically a Home Grown album since all the songs were written by him.

Just met them 2 hours ago! BEST BAND I HAVE EVER SEEN LIVE! They were all so polite and sweet. They also gave me their autographs. :D
A part of me wishes that they stayed like this, because they sound so much like Paramore here. I mean, their newer stuff is good too, but when I transition between listening to their new stuff and their old stuff it feels like I'm listening to 2 different bands
