- The rise of @AmelieLens's career has been extraordinary. Within only a few years she has developed into one of the top techno DJs worldwide.
With her passion for techno, her penchant for perfectionism and her uncompromising sound, she has risen from being a raver to a techno superstar - and there is no end in sight. Telekom Electronic Beats TV visited Amelie in her hometown of Antwerp and accompanied her to her own event, “Exhale".

Whilst we appreciate and respect the right of people to freely voice their opinions, we kindly ask that it remains on point and is done in a fair and respectful manner. We reserve the right to delete sexist, misogynistic or otherwise offensive comments.
Not saying those comments are correct or should be accepted, but deleting a comment isn't going to change somebodies mind or opinion, they're still able to voice those things personally if they wish, why not leave them and allow it to be discussed? Are they really free to voice their opinion if it's "misogynistic"? Then people know that person is a msygonist, maybe having somebody able to engage with and talk to them could change their mind, but pretending like it doesen't happen isn't solving any issues, hate will always exist, but not everybody has to agree with it or stand for it, but if that's how someone truly feels, they should be able to say what they want, and equally someone should be able to say what they want back to that person, or to ignore them, or whatever, but it's there.
@@joshsmith7812 Yeah, no point in deleting the comments. Being misogynistic is stupid. Let them make fools of themselves.
@@josue.guevara I disagree! this is a RUclips Chanel....not a country...Telekom Electronic Beats
has every right to delete comments and I applaud them if they do. If a guest of your friend comes to your Home and disrespects your mother or your wife...you will kick them out ..but why not just let them stay in your house ..right... I mean you wont change there minds by kicking them out, so why not let them stay and just ignore them while they keep insulting your family ?!
Telekom Electronic Beats
can shape the character of there youtube chanel in any way they want.... they don't have to be fair minded they don't have to give everyone a chance... Now as a subscriber you have the right not to come to this chanel anymore if you feel that it is wrong of them to delete an offensive comment. So you subscribers have your rights and they Telekom Electronic Beats
have there own right to also do as they please on an online Forum , thread or Chanel.
They don't have to allow it to be discussed! this is not a political science class, this is not a presidential debate forum....this is someones RUclips chanel about music !!!!!!
If the comment veers towards hate, sexism...or what ever the chanel feel is not what they are about, then they Telekom Electronic Beats
should exercise the delete Hammer at will!
Just like you would never allow a stranger to come to your house and start verbally insulting you ..you will not be saying ok let's discuss this! You would kick there butts out effectively deleting the situation.
The fact you even have to write this is embarrassing. What wrong with people?
@@josue.guevara Exactly, silencing people's opinions isn't going to do anything, I fully stand by free speech, just because something is said doesen't mean you need to agree with it or that it's right or true, but if someone has an opinion, they should be allowed to share it, unless it's extremely wrong may be I can understand, but for the most part, people should be allowed to say what they want to and in turn people should be allowed to say what they want to back to that person, nothing good ever came of shutting off free communication between individuals, maybe if that person truly is msygonistic, their mind could be changed by somebody who says the right thing back to them, but if that persons viewpoint gets deleted, it's still going to exist, it's just going to exist elsewhere and nothing will change, communication is key to a lot of things in life imo.
I love how not arrogant she is...just genuinely a nice person. I hope her success keeps growing.
How is it possible that she radiates so much positivity and happiness
She's a vegan that's how.
She eat uranium
Soo true man
Because she is genuine. Not fake like most people nowerdays
beacuse she loves what she does
"Since i was 15 everything i do was around my love for techno music - everything I do it's always been about music" - FREAKING AMAZING
Amelie is my personal highlight on Tomorrowland EVERY year!!!
I love her positive energy and awesome DJ-skills
Jeez, she has pretty much the best attitude of any DJ ever. It's awesome that she's grounded and has obviously really thought a lot about her role and what kind of effect she wants to have on people. Really cool and refreshing.
Deadmau5 seems like an asshole.
when people are confused at clubs when they start playing underground makes me so upset!!!! just close ur eyes and feel the energy
chicago is blessed to have so many actually decent clubs where it is expected to play underground tunes, i still dream of visiting places like Berlin though
@@von... Any recommendations? The places I found were all like 40$
@@100nni spybar and smartbar, when they are able to reopen
this isn't underground lol
hahah where the fuck are u talking about? How can you call this underground hahah.
I like her music also very much but Amelie Lens is like on of the more commercial artists in the techno scene.....
I love how she comes to UK, smashes printworks and then plays to less than 300 people in a tiny disused bank vault in cardiff. A lot of big DJ's don't do that. It sold out in minutes, I was so drawn to knowing who this woman was and now im starting to love techno. A genre I'd written off years ago 🤩
Who would ever dislike this video? Amelie deserves her success completely! Hearing her talk about being a raver and staying in touch with the people was great!
I would
everyone who loves and respect real musicians who making music themselves, not just shaking theirs butt and switching wav files.
Artem Petushkov thank you.
I mean what is she doing? 5 years and nobody will remember her. Like 99% of every DJ out there. Bet you can’t even remember tracks you played 2 weeks ago.
@Artem Petushkov you obviously know nothing about DJing lmao. And hating on other's music preference is even more pathetic than writing a negative comment on youtube video for a music style which you obviously don't even listen to.
I love her positive vibe, very refreshing. Many people have a totally wrong image of techno music, they think it's monotonous and soulless, and while sometimes that is indeed the case, very often it's all the contrary. Techno music can have so many layers, like an intricate painting. I love it!
''Many people have a totally wrong image of techno music' - Why is it so important to you that people don't get the wrong impression about you and techno? ... Everybody needs to get their damn image right! Right? ;-)
Indeed. I feel so free while dancing techno, because it is like I am also making up the track : I can dance a melody eveb though there is no melody, only because I feel it, only because that is my way to be inside the music. And still I won't be "wrong", there is no right or wrong really. I can go deeper, I can stay on the surface, it is just a journey.
I was guilty of thinking that about techno, but then it dawned on me that quite a bit of the music that I liked (especially in real undeground raves) was techno. Music is music- it can be made badly or well. I have been getting into making my own using hardware- though my attempts at techno tend to be tech house (ish) because I use traditional music scales quite a bit, I love how deep some techno is and how texture can be used so well to create atmosphere and energy.
Never heard of her, but she’s so humble, open and sweet. Very inspiring.
I just saw her at baum festival 2 days ago and it was one of the best nights ever. I´m just grateful for people promoting this kind of experiences and I hope they try to do that promoting good values and healthy ways of life in the escene . Long life to the queen. Colombia loves you!
It's so nice to know that she cares about the crowd and her fans. Just like she said often people who go to a techno party just need to forget about their problems, stress and hard work for a moment. And many people go alone sometimes including me. So to know that the DJ isn't just there for the check, they care that we have good time and its just positive energy nothing else its really amazing, makes you feel less alone and helps blend in with the crowd and enjoy yourself. DJ's presence can really affect a set. Every track is suddenly 10x better when the DJ is also smiling looking at people and dancing I think you all would agree with me. She doesnt have to do this, she just could play focus on her deck and go home but she puts that extra effort into connecting with human beings. Thank you Amelie you're the best xx
Beautiful Amelie!keep on shining your light!
Glad I grew up in Belgium, the country is bweh but the electronic music scene is on point. Producing for 20 years now, not to be 'famous' but as my form of meditation, or escape and will continue till I die or go deaf.
The country is ok, the politicians are disgusting. It's sad people let them influence by them and the corrupt national media. The people from north and south should re-unite and listen more to underground music like back in the days... and fight for their country those corrupt pigs want to destroy.
@@timchromecast I am the same way. Producing for about 20 years as well as my creative output. Love every minute of it, not to be famous but because I freaking love it. First and foremost I produce for myself, if you like it too, awesome!
I'll always respect Belgium for having electronic legends such as "Telex". Lacksman, Moers and Moulin (may he rest in peace) helped the electronic scene a lot back in the 70's and 80s with catchy sounds and hilarious lyrics and it's a shame they don't deserve more recognition. Cheers from Chile!
i agree with your life and want to do the same (live in copenhagen, been producing 5 years max).
Doing something for its own sake is an art of living
As she says the best thing about growing up in Belgium are the parties, I went to I Love Techno in 03 and it literally had every professional Techno DJ playing there, heaven on earth!!!!
Definitely one of my favorites and she keeps getting better! Her sets are always amazing (also she has a great personality!). 🖤
Amelie Lens is an amazing artist and has a very good taste in the music
Rhaaa le son...!!!
Le p'tit truc qui fait.
Terrible ,excellent ⚡👍
Just randomly saw this video. She is the reason why I like techno. The dedication to emotion seeking.
i cant decide whats more mindblowing, her beauty or her sets...
I swear she and Charlotte are one of the most humble and down to earth human beings :)
She is so sweet and the fact that she’s able to spin vinyl.. I don’t think she recognises how good she is. It shows that she’s a perfectionist
I love the feel of her music.
It's like a beautiful, peaceful panorama with a volcano in the centre.
I LOVE HER. What a beautiful person. All the best to you Amelie!!!!!!
"I feel like the people are choosing the tracks because of how they react. I never think 'What am I gonna play next?' It's just happening. It's the best feeling."
Me too...I love the dark, deep aspects of techno and minimal house
Google global truth project and read "The Present" to see the truth about life and death, explained in 4 pgs. Nothing is more important than checking it is true
She's so beautiful and kind🖤
Wow !! she is a truly passionate raver from the deepest part of her heart!! Really wish she never loses that passion for the music!! Wish the Duracell she has in herself never drains and continues recharging forever and ever cause she delivers happiness with her Music!! 🙌
Just realized my head was bopping the entire length of this video. Love her vibe!
Danke! Das gibt ihr buchstäblich Gesicht und Charakter. Sie ist nicht mehr nur noch eine total abstrakte Big Playerin, sondern eine Person, die ich persönlich sehr sympathisch finde.
🇨🇴 Love her music, she is one of the best techno djs of our generation
I like watching interviews with Emelie. I started to DJ at age 9 and stopped around age 21. Raves, etc. Never DJd for money. But, Techno, like real Techno, is not just something I love, it's a part of my life, day and night. Techno lover is not just liking a certain kind of music ... Techno is a lifestyle.
--I think being born in Belgium was luck. But then her talent is what moved her up to the top.
--When I watch Emelie DJ, she DJs from her emotions, which makes the entire experience better ...because she is living the music.
You know what I’m looking forward to? That first rave after the Corona crisis is over. It will be truely amazing if it could be an Amelie gig. I’ve seen and heard her perform a few times now and all were some of the best raves I’ve been to. I really miss that now that we have to stay inside
Lazlo Oegema never taking a live set for granted ever again
You don't realize how much you miss it once its gone.... Now I just NEED a rave
Oh dont worry Amelie is playing raves again already helping spread the coronvirus! Making sure well be stuck with this virus and no clubs even longer yeah go Amelie great job
Me too!
I was so lucky that my first rave after Corona was with Amelie Lens, live in Lausanne CH. Being completely honest with you, when she started the set I cried a bit of happiness 😂
I love all dance music always have and I'm 48! If it grips you whateva music it is its magical! From the old streetsounds Electro albums to dance music now it's my life support.
Nothing better than techno felt in a live show. Especially Amelies sets! They are so 💣💣🔥🤔
And what a nice, good looking, and beautiful lady she really is. She is so humble and honest. Wow, didn't expect that from the hardcore techno scene.
A lot of what of this amazing lady is playing reminds me of the London Acid scene of the late-90s (labels like Stay Up Forever, Smitten etc.) Keep going, Amelie and I loved the set you did from your house too. One love mate x
All hail Queen Amelie! Thank you for bringing techno back!
Pure admiration for this incredible artist!
It's great to see young people like her find their creative voice!
The most charming DJ right now
Since the pandemic began I have seen many videos of artists like Amelie (DJ's), but she is the only one who manages to transmit the energy off the screen. I love to see her dance and enjoy what she does, that is something that is contagious, thanks for that.
Much love, much techno love from south tx. Long live the techno❤
What a fabulous DJ- so energetic and into the scene. I also saw the two Elektron analog four's behind her in her studio- yeah!
Eres genial en tu talento me deslumbras DTB .....colombia medallo😇🤪😘
Newcomer to Amelie Lens tracks, but completely fan of this inspiring speech! UAU!
So humble, dedicated, and ambitious! She has great energy and deserves only the best, I can't imagine what she envisions for herself in 30 years.
I’m jealous of the fact Belgium has such a strong techno following and community. Once I started down that musical path I became the odd one. It was just emerging in the late 80s and I was hooked. I still do. However, I hope you never get to the point it where your comfortable with doing your set, because it’s that uncomfortable uncertainty and desire to continually connect to those in the audience is what makes and keeps the energy at a high level. Once you’re comfortable you become lazy and complacent, therefore predictable and boring. You must stay on edge to be on. True, it’s physically and emotionally draining as you pump the essence of your soul and being giving life to those listening to your set, just like a mom giving birth. So as a student of a dance class I taught said to me, save something of yourself and not give it all away, which isn’t easy to do.
Unbelievably good artist, i was a trance through and through diehard now i love techno because of amelie lens. Please come to Melbourne soon.
I cannot wait to fuckin see her. If she comes to Melbourne (especially a doof) I'll go nutssss
Amelie really know what's up. That's the mentality to have when playing, and I bet that's one of the main reasons she's so good and she'll keep getting better.
Her set at Awakenings Festival 2019 was absolutely amazing. You could literally feel the energy she puts into her work. It was absolutely one of my favorites, there.
She's one of my fav DJs...she needs more exposure!
such a sweeetheart!
so talented !
so beautiful!
love you Amelie"
Making people happy it's a universal thing god bless your gifted
I love everything you said beautiful Amelie
Only wears Black Clothes but Spread so much Colour :). Really enjoing her Sets and Music :)
I have noticed that the most positive people play the darkest music.. :D I am a big fan of her approach to Djing.
she has loads of good things to say and produces some real good track i wanna listen to a set now ❤
Such a beautiful soul ❤️
seen her sunday at riverside fest and she was in crowd with us all shes amazing
There are so many people whinging and moaning about her like get a life man. If you don't like her music then simple move along, do not degrade her work saying shes only famous cause she pretty and that's the only way she has fans. I couldn't give two shits about techno two years ago but when i went with a cousin to a festival and heard her play, i fell inlove with her music and thats what brought me to the techno scene. If you dont like the techno she plays im sure you have your own favourite djs and style to listen too. Some people out there really saying she hasnt been in the scene for too long so she doesn't deserve to be recognized, shes 29 when did you want her to start djing to meet your expectations? When the doctor broke her umbilical cord? Morons.
that is why she is famous though, you wouldn't defend it if it weren't true. (nothing wrong with it, just blandly predictable)
I agree bro. Wether she’s hot or looks like your fugly sister. She can make some good techno and throw down a solid set. At the end of the day THAT is what matters. If you wanna see a hot chick go to a strip. But I’ve seen her live. And it’s epic. Me being around techno since I was in my mid teens now that I’m 30 I can say she goes hard.
I love so much music.... Amelie Lens... The best DJ forever 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘 😘
She’s very honest about her job and very friendly to ALL the fans despite her popularity .
It’s a huge difference between Amelie and other DJs . She is just herself and always smiling.
See you Amelie 😊
Greetings!
A-ME-LIE 🖤
Remember us ? 😍🖤
You are the best! I love you so much 😁😢
Such a lovely and happy person. Her attitude is certainly contagious. May her beats boom, and synths buzz for a long time to come.
Amelie is simply amazing, one of the best. Good interview, thanks!
I just love her joy while playing her sets! Its so contagious. Can't wait to rave to her sets again this year! ♡♡♡♡♡
I am in love, wow
Beautiful inside and outside. Techno is beautiful music, it saved my life after a life of DnB music
omfg I LOVE HERE TOO MUCH
She is very humble and very sweet gesture. Nice DJ
Man, she is the most genuine and grounded DJ ever I started listening to techno music because of her She kills it at every set sometimes I wonder where does she get that energy from 😂❤️ *plant based* haha I love her and I can’t wait to see her live someday 🇫🇷 Good luck with Lenske 💚
respect from istanbul..wonderfull!
She's a positive person who goes out at night only to spread love & joy via music to people through techno. She genuinely cares about what she's doing, which is why she deserves the success she's getting.
Good on her..she's keeping a scene alive and moving it forwards in her own way 👍👍
S R DHAIN I disagree completely. If she genuinely cares about what she is doing, she would not be the fee that she currently is. She is more for a set then Jeff Mills is...just let that sink in. She is part of the reason why the club scene is dying.
@@theoldfaithful7778 Exactly! Her making more than Jeff Mills is absolutely disgusting and telling of where the scene is at.
Such a wonderful person ❤ and awesome techno dj
i just recognized her. always when i saw videos or photos i was like: i know that women?! now it came like a blitz. i danced for hours next to her at berghain. crazy energy.
🔥🔥🔥
Amelie is amazing, me and a lot of my friends here in Brazil love you and your style :)
What an absolute star! You re-awakened my love for good, dark, underground techno. Artiste Extraordinaire! Thank you!
I was a regular at raves in the early to mid 90's. Nothing like the excitement of an illegal warehouse rave (and the legal ones). I loved having room to throw down and dance. I don't understand why people now stand so close. About all you can do is jump up and down and wave your arms. Good tunes, btw!
Because now 10k people are at that same warehouse that in the 90's there was 500
Because most of them are afraid of real dancing. it's easier to blend in the crowd. The same people will raise their smartphones to film a totally insignificant scene of the set etc.
...Tomorrowland is to blame
What are you all talking about?
Come and go rave with us youths we'll dance you to an other universe
But yea I'd also like to go back in time to a 90s techno rave
Amazing job amazing music amazing Dj

This lady blew my mind right from the start!! Been listening and going to underground parties for a long time, and no body caught my attention like Amelie! ..... Also the kindest of souls! I travelled alone too, and still do!! No need waiting on people as life passes us by! After all, music is not what we do, it's WHO WE ARE!! Peace & Love X All the best Amelie, great feature!

1 - People please relax.
2 -If you don‘t like her. Don‘l listen to her and don‘t visit her parties. If she earns lots of money, it‘s not her fault. A DJ gets booked to make people dance, sweat and relax. If people dance, you sell drinks. Than you earn money. Easy principle.
3 - And, yes, she‘s playing true techno. Straight, nothing complicated. Underground? Yes this was underground back in 1994. Than came the love parade in Berlin with millions of people. Was it still underground? You can choose. Techno is more than 30 years old. Pick your style and enjoy. I don‘t like monster raves. So I don‘t go there. I sweat down the stairs in the club.
4 - Just enjoy music and the freedom to choose so many styles.
Not real techno sorry, the evolution of drumcode, pseudotechno all the songs same time, ask google where is techno
Alex Rivero ok boomer
I caint wait to see her in 30 years her music is one of a kind
Germany is like Belgium when it comes to Techno, just bigger. Italy is also pretty great when it comes to the Techno scene and France is getting more and more into it!
how about the netherlands?
Belgium and Netherlands are the pioneers of electronic music, all others followed. while others started in the '90s, Belgium and the Netherlands had this already from the 80s.....
All forms of EDM from techno to hardstyle/hardcore started in Belgium or the Netherlands, the collabs in these 2 countries is huge.
The roots keep dismantling
Power Frau!!!!
wow a interview about the legend, instant added it to "watch later"!
omg this is my first time hearing her talk
