      This hazardous waste called water turbines has nothing to do with sustainability, green or independent energy. The production of extremely toxic substances and paints alone is endlessly harmful to the environment. It destroys the wildlife in the water.
      It would make the most sense if people stopped using so much electricity and started living a little more independently again.

    We live right next to an earth dam where water pours through the sluices at the base for the majority of the year at a great and powerful rate, particularly in the summer months. It would be a perfect place for this kind of generator and could provide power for most of the small community that lives nearby. And it could feed into the grid. Even if it supplied power needs for some of the year it would surely still be viable; the infrastructure of the dam and sluices are already there! We have lived here for twenty years and the dam has existed since the 1980s. Yet nobody ever talks about doing this. So blind and narrow minded when they erect a few wind turbines nearby at enormous cost which probably supply far less power than this would.
    How can I get people to listen to me?

  • @user9b2

    Why is this better than a strait forward water wheel setup?

    • @ballenmedia
      @ballenmedia Год назад

      I think its because its stronger and longer lasting since its made out of concrete. The turbine operates on a horizontal axis at the water's level and utilizies the natural flow of a whirlpool making it more efficient whereas a water wheel operates on a vertical axis therefore requiring that a part of the wheel be at the water's level at all times, which can change. Nothing wrong with water wheels but the simple answer is that a turbine powered dam is just more efficient, and if noise might bother you a turbine dam would be quieter.

      Both a water wheel and this failed turbine are low yield systems. Generators expect high rotation speed, that's a plus for a turbine.

    I find this video amazing for the lack of the scientific knowledge. An idea is no longer good enough. Hydraulic inventions have to compete with the existing turbines already developed to achieve certain efficiency. Thus able to generate electricity isn't an invention but to generate more than the existing machines should be the goal! Some of the ideas shown here are laughable by scientists and engineers who are trained in this field!

    Unfortunately, hydropower has extremely high investment costs (here approx. 5-20 T$ per kWp), but generates electricity continuously (except during drought).
    Due to the extreme drop in prices for solar modules, electricity from hydro and wind power plants is now 3 to 10 times more expensive in comparison.
    Today you can buy 400W solar modules for as little as 50-70$.

    Catch, all these neat power production devices are being obsolete due to excessive rechargeable devices being produced. In the conversion of energy, it will be required to have ultra high powered constant nuclear power generation in the world of energy storage devices (batteries). Storing energy is not green, how it's generated in the quantities needed to fill all these storage devices in the real factor.
