    I agree with everything said. With more reps, more practice, and time on the sidelines watching and learning, Lance can get it done as a QB, hopefully for Dallas. Roger Staubach waited three years behind Craig Morton before getting his first start in 1972 and he went on to be one of the top quarterbacks of the 1970s. Trey has this same chance.

    He’s an A plus athlete with a canon arm, he just doesn’t have a QB mind, that was the gamble. Usually players like that rarely transition to pocket passers that know how to read a defense and find solutions pre snaps and post snaps. He has all the abilities from the neck down, neck up remains to be seen, I hope he gets a chance soon either at Dallas or elsewhere.

      @@safetyscrewmarket I'm not an expert but I've followed him during the draft process, watched tape of him at North Dakota State. He barely threw the ball there, they had a great running game. Then I followed his progress in the Niners, and those issues came up often. He's super raw, right now he's an athlete with a great arm that plays QB. That's just the impression I've got from watching him through pre season games and his time at NDSU. I love his tools and I want to see him get a chance at some point in the near future.

      @@charlesbudd7694 he's not a burner but he runs a lot, ran for 1100yds in 2019. That's the question everyone was asking, what is he? He clearly has the arm but he wants to escape the pocket and run like Lamar. Was never asked to run an NFL type offense and didn't have a ton of production in college except for one year. Shanahan thought he could fit easily in his offense but the learning curve was already steep. Would he have succeeded with more time? Who knows. One thing is for sure, that time he had to sit will help him. This upcoming training camp and pre season will be big for him.

      Some coaches make their QBs better like Brain Daboll. Most are like Arthur Smith & treat them like video game avatars who when you order 'play 23' know which receiver to throw to in advance so they don't bother to even tell the QB anything more.
      McCarthy not only is like smith, historically he doesn't even allow other coaches to work closely or well with the QBs. Hackett was Lafleur's man, Hackett got more out of Rodgers than even Lafleur did for all his other faults.
      However I've learned that sometimes, even people with extra or special abilities aren't aware of theirs or their limitations. I think Daboll thinks he can improve any & every QB he coaches so that may be why he refuses to replace Jones.
      I just saw a video clearly showing Slayton, Hiatt & Moore are *excellent* receivers, so they're not the problem. & instead of getting a QB who can pass to them, they got another élite receiver Jones already isn't capable of throwing to.
      I don't know if Lance specifically would be better off there or the Giants with him, but they definitely should have traded for Justin Fields. They have a deep receiving corps & the Steelers don't. Since it seems that no one respects Fields anymore & the Steelers think they need to load up on low-grade receivers, they should have been able to get Fields for Lock & another mid receiver.

    Tra Lance is a better athlete than Dak Prescott
    He has a better arm. He has a better body speed and height
    Me personally, I would have him ready for next season as a starting quarterback, just the way step in for the Packers.
    Traditionally, the Cowboys normally keep their quarterbacks for the duration of the career, but I really believe things are going to change.
    What NFL franchise would take Dak Prescott and that large contract per season?

    • @spoza72
      @spoza72 4 месяца назад

      Like 10 teams would take an all pro. He could go to cleavland and beat the chiefs. But yeah there's a huge market for dak. If steelers fail with just fields. Oakland would take him. Tampa, seattle, rams jets . Maybe dolphins. If Richardson hurt again. Maybe colts. Titans. Quite a few actually would kill for an all pro.

    • @choosecarefully408
      @choosecarefully408 4 месяца назад

      @@spoza72 Nothing but media ruined Fields. How did an NFL fan base see what Matt Canada was doing but not Matt Eberflus? Even *Gatsy* got blamed for stuff we now know was Eberflus' doing.
      1) Eberflus *bragged about* meddling in the offense to the press. I thought that this was strange since they were losing under his meddling.
      2) Before the designed QB rushes in '22 what was the offense? "Hand the ball off X3 then toss a slant or a screen. Repeat."
      How was this not _less complex_ than Matt Canada's offense?
      3) When 'Flus got busy with Montez Sweat & the new DC _this year_ Getsy got more control over the offense & reintroduced all the plays that made *the pre-D.J. Moore **_Bears_** the #1 offense in the NFL for 3 weeks straight* & for those five weeks in '23 the offense was more productive too. So *all eight of the games Getsy controlled* the play-calling in were better than *_ALL_** the other 22 Fields started* that Eberflus interfered in.
      So we have a 100% correlation with Eberflus' play-calling to the Bears being a lower-tier offense, & a 100% correlation to Fields being able to produce without Eberflus, an o-line or even a receiving corps. So what did the fans conclude?
      "Fields can't read defenses."
      How are none of these 'analysts' who do QB breakdowns & _have at times_ pointed to play-calling *_all_** missed this?* How?

    Was the 49ers O-line that bad, or did TL not read the defense prior to having the ball snapped? I don't know. Just a thought. Either way, I hope he gets another chance to showcase his talent in Dallas. He's clearly athletic!
    I think too many NFL teams today are drafting QB's and not giving them adequate time to develop. Either that, or they don't have the other pieces of the team in place, to be able to give a QB the opportunity to be successful.

  • @scout06171

    I’ve never understood why professional Coaches always waste valuable reps of young quarterbacks by using an inferior line to protect the kid. You absolutely have to see what the kids can do with starters against starters. The Coaches already know what his starting QB can do. Put the kid into the games early with the starters and let him make reads and throw to reliable receivers against starting defenses. These quality reps will slow the game down for young QB’s. Practice doesn’t slow down the game and neither does running for one’s life behind turnstiles.

    Honestly either way you gotta like the move to get him. I find it hard to believe coach had no clue they were talking about the trade. Mike has seen a decent QB or 2 in his days. Obviously we will get a better read in mini camps and preseason. I hated the loss of a roster spot last yr. But if coach sees something in Trey then a 4th was well used. He was a top 3 pick for a reason 49ers aren't stupid they draft well and its proven. Competition at every position is great to have. Not picking up the 5th yr option could mean a couple things good or bad. If he is QB2 after preseason or before then we will see about him getting signed and who is where in 25
