Great video Eric, very good demonstration! The cars have a lot more sounds than I thought they had. They really add a lot of realistic sounds to the train!
@stationmaster12 No, MTH has Lionel beat as far as starter sets go. But you CAN use both systems together on the same layout, so if you start off with MTH you can always add Legacy later.
Great video showing the Ethanol cars Eric! My wife bought me this set for X-mas! I'm so anxious to get them on my layout! But I have to wait until saint Nick comes! LOL Thanks for posting the video!
I seemed to enjoy the squealing sounds in the last part of the video showing the consist...made it sound very real. Thanks for the demo, Eric...this video actually flew under my radar as I only now just saw it...lol.
Great review Eric! Theses are awesome. I don't understand why the put the electrocoupler on the end with the EOT decive though... If that is going to be the end of the train, why do you need an electrocoupler? Shouldn't it be on the other end? Aside from that I think they are great. They really add a lot of realism to the overall effect.
Nice video Eric! I really like that set! I really think Lionel is top dog right now when it comes to trains. Their products are really good! Have you had any shipping problems with Lionel's products? I have heard that their production is being held back due to contracts with factories overseas.
Great video Eric of the ethanol cars and i hope one day i can get some too... but i'll have to wait for a bit cause i just order the lionel #4011 Big Boy with legacy...keep up the great work and the video's coming..
Hi Eric...........Great Video............Your right............these did fly in under the radar screen.....If i knew these were this nice I would have tried to get a set of these......i guess they are all sold out by now.......I'm still trying to find the GE Hybrid diesel.....i just bought the CP ES44AC Hybrid but i still want the GE.....Let me know if you know where i can get one.......thanks......Ron
Tanker cars (in real life) have always made me really nervous wile stoped at a R/R crossing. I seen one "rocking " on its trucks! Not to mention its HAZORDOUS chemical loads.
man i'm in HO Scale right now and I was watching this and it blew my mind! (I'v watched many more of your videos) how much do the cost? And do you think thell have box cares and intermoduals and coal cars with the sounds?
Have they ever made similarly functional legacy freight cars? I remember playing with my father's old Lionel set, and the cattle cars that would open up by themselves and the cattle would "herd" in via vibration. I'd love to see them take those screeching wheels and opening doors and curve sensors to their boxcars and even possibly have a set that has variable speed "clickety-clack" sounds. Lord knows I can't stand toy train "ticky tick" sounds and would give anything to oveeride that with a good clack-clack, or that whump, whump, whump, whump that lots of cars give off. Cheers!
Well Eric, Since I watched your video yesterday I have search to all ends of the internet, and it seems these sets are all sold out.....bummer lol. I guess I will just have to be happy with my Boy Scouts of America ES44.....
@DJW701 If you really want one, try talking to a good Lionel dealer and see if he can find you one. In fact, try calling Legacy Station, whose number is at the end of this video. He might be able to track one down for you.
Lionel should make pig hauler cars with real smells……… Just kidding! My family had a dairy farm that they sold 40 years ago. We thought that the worst smelling farms were pig and turkey.
I’ve never seen any freight cars with their own sound, that is crazy to me! The sounds are just amazing!
Lionel engineering at it's best !
Great video Eric, very good demonstration! The cars have a lot more sounds than I thought they had. They really add a lot of realistic sounds to the train!
Man those things are AWESOME!!! I love the sound of the train brakes!! Thanks for sharing.
@stationmaster12 No, MTH has Lionel beat as far as starter sets go. But you CAN use both systems together on the same layout, so if you start off with MTH you can always add Legacy later.
Sounds from these cars are excellent.
Those cars are so cool. Love the increasing brake squeal sound. Thanks for sharing!
nice day
That way awesome Eric!! Those tank cars are very nice!! Thanks for the review!!
Great video showing the Ethanol cars Eric! My wife bought me this set for X-mas! I'm so anxious to get them on my layout! But I have to wait until saint Nick comes! LOL Thanks for posting the video!
And you went and sold them! Lol
Thanks Eric for the update, I'm really impressed with the cool tank car's. Thanks for sharing!
Those are AWESOME!!!!!! I wish the 21 inch cars and other legacy sound cars had those many features
I like how you showed how to apply the train brakes with the Legacy remote from 11:45 to 12:18. Very cool indeed.
The crew talk features are optional, they don't activate by themselves. You have to choose to use them.
I seemed to enjoy the squealing sounds in the last part of the video showing the consist...made it sound very real. Thanks for the demo, Eric...this video actually flew under my radar as I only now just saw it...lol.
13 years later I am still waiting for Lionel to catalog something like this again
I also liked how you showed how to activate the flat wheel effect with the Legacy remote from 12:29 to 13:13
Awesome tankers with their own sound
can it run in DCS? if not, what if i get the tmcc box. the one that allows you to run tmcc engines with DCS?
Nice! I love these freight cars!
@TheRush341 , Lionel didn't make HO Scale stuff but maybe HO tank cars with sounds will maybe be in the future.
I like how it has correct placement and use of the UN1987 hazmat placard for ethinol.
Great review Eric! Theses are awesome. I don't understand why the put the electrocoupler on the end with the EOT decive though... just effin amazing, this review end my bday night great! thanks eric!!
Incredible sounds thanks
@Bassfanatic94 No, I haven't noticed any shipping problems. Companies are always having issues with contracts overseas, that's nothing new.
Great video!
nice tank cars eric......

hay you got your demonstrater working well thats good
does the gax tank train end car have a end-of-train device
@GoldenCreekValleyRR It varies, but it's about 3 inches. Those turnouts in the video are #5's.
Also these tanker are "nortorious" for making a heavy thumping sound on the rails. In wich i suppose that you refered to as "a flat"
that was just awesome dude!! love it!
I like you're vision es44acs as well
Great video Eric of the ethanol cars and i hope one day i can get some too... but i'll have to wait for a bit cause i just order the lionel #4011 Big Boy with legacy...keep up the great work and the video's coming..

Another Great Video Eric! Will they be operating on your Piedmont Pilgrimage day?
Do these come the models like legacy engines
Those are so cool man
hey eric, does the fred make sorta of a high pictched wailing noise???
Those are freaking sweet!!!
do they have some for ho scale
@TheLegoair Yes, it does.
With the train break does it actually slow the train or just make a separate noise?
Slows the train
I think the methods for vision line could be applied to G scale.
nice cars eric and a random question how many tank cars do you have all together on your layout
devin smih over 100 most likely
@adtrains75 $269.00 for the set. I hope the put out other types of cars in the future.
@DJW701 Yes.
Tanker cars (in real life) have always made me really nervous wile stoped at a R/R crossing. I seen one "rocking " on its trucks! Not to mention its HAZORDOUS chemical loads.
don't be scared , Fred !!
Fred Thompson ...
Can you run something like this with a non-Lionel engine?
K9Nick811 yep
Yes, and they’ll make generic sounds too
Do you have to use the modual to get all the features?
No modules with the tankers
LIONEL does the best sound but not crazy about crew talk. Can crew talk be turned off?
machia0705 u can just not play it
@somestupiedpeople1 Yes, there have been several updates for DCS since it was released. I made a video showing how to do the update.
man i'm in HO Scale right now and I was watching this and it blew my mind!
(I'v watched many more of your videos)
how much do the cost?
And do you think thell have box cares and intermoduals and coal cars with the sounds?
@somestupiedpeople1 It's called "Changing Sound Sets on MTH PS2 engines"
@esiegel76 thanks for the info
Eric i think u should put all of our names in a drawing and pull a name and we could win one of your locomotives.
@escape150 I would try Tony's Train Town in New Jersey. Ask Al if he can find you one.
@ELMSLines I don't think they will work as well with just DCS. I would not recommend buying these cars unless you're using Legacy.
Eric, bud, why in the fuck did you dim the god damn lights!?!?!
@RandN425 Some, but not all.
@BIGBLUE108 No, the fred is silent.

Hi Eric,
These cars are virtually impossible to find. If I found a new set would $325 be worth the investment. Many thanks for your time, Greg
Go for about $600 now...lol
@DJW701 If you really want one, try talking to a good Lionel dealer and see if he can find you one. In fact, try calling Legacy Station, whose number is at the end of this video. He might be able to track one down for you.
wow those tank cars are pretty awesome!!!!! some one tell Lionel to make all this electronic crap for G-scale!
apo234 I'd like to see this 4 HO scale
in a few years every car will have legacy sounds haha
That didn’t happen...lol
@esiegel76 Thank You
I have a custom seal rail SD90 and SD70 that have Lionel legacy 1.3
Lionel should make pig hauler cars with real smells……… Just kidding! My family had a dairy farm that they sold 40 years ago. We thought that the worst smelling farms were pig and turkey.
It sounds alot like my toilet 🚽🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣
hmmmmm......ethanol.
