Yes, kind of accurate. 2 months ago I had a 1 hour 'long' interview at a multinational company and for me the questions were the following (I will list any, including the ones in the video): 1. What kind of industrial communication protocols do you know? Tell me something about them. (ModbusTCP/RTU,PROFINET,PROFIBUS,etc.) 2. What is the difference between PROFIBUS/PROFINET? What component is needed to PROFIBUS, how and why we use it? (resistor at the end of the bus) 3. What are a 5 PLC languages widely used? (IEC standard) 4. Write an easy PLC program in the language you prefer. (I dont remember correctly but they tested if I could use S,R,Timer,NO input,NC input, Relay output, positive and negative edge detection correctly.) 5. Tell me about the OB blocks of a PLC (OB1, OB100,..) 6. There is a sensor, you could use voltage or currect signal, what would you prefer and why? 7. Difference between 0-20 and 4-20 mA. 8. Widely known PLC manufacturers
I really appreciate the steady volume and calm, clear voice in this video. Thank you for the information. I will listen to this several times while driving a tractor trailer vehicle carrying cargo across the nation. 🚛
When my work (a manufacturing site) held interviews looking for a Automation Project Manager, I was amazed that none of the interviewees could not answer basic questions like: "give me an example of a project that you lead to implement a PLC control system?", "when working in a blue chip team how would you influence others to make your project their focus to achieve your goals?". The interviewees were more interested in being technical about signals and coding, rather than basic team skills.
You referred "Signals and coding" here... Will you explain little bit more about it. I am seeking for APM post. It may be much helpful to me in my preparation, sir.
Same here. Senior Automation Engineer in control programming, 17 years of experience. If they would ask me that during the interview I would tell them to go see Wikipedia. :)
Thanks for your video! I'm Lead Automation Control Engineer from Ukraine. My experience shows that in Ukraine most popular PLC are Siemens, Schneider Electricctric and Mitsubishi. I/O module are Siemens, Schneider Electric, Phoenix Contact and few WAGO). SCADA are WinCC, Citect SCADA ,Wonderware and Trace Mode.
this is why i really love this video... I'm jus an industrial motor control technician at my work.. and now.. I'm getting further on with automation job..
I thank you deeply RealPars for creating these 2 parts videos about job interviews, I'm currently preparing myself to apply for an amazing job on the industrial control field, I also share your videos so your channel would continue growing.
Awesome Video, Thank you so Much. I’ve watched more Than 20 videos from you guys, all of them very didactic, practical and easy to understand. You guys are doing a great job. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hello RealPars, could you do this kind of videos more. Right now I've finished bachelor in "Automation and Control". And I really appreciate what you are doing on this channel. Looking forward to see videos like that🙂👍
BTW some interviewers can give you a Ramsey test or similar the day of the interview. Be sure to have enough time for the interview or ask before getting there if you feel in confidence to do so.
that's a very interesting video. and it would be quite useful for me to transfer to the other company. thanks for your contribution to creating that kinds of videos 😊😊
I’m beyond nervous, I’ve worked in food processing plants for 2 years and am very familiar with SCADA interfaces and sensors, etc… but never have had a maintenance position besides doing HVAC since i was 16 with my father… i somehow got a callback for interview for tomorrow, I’m so nervous, I’m a nerd with electronics and love working with my hands so it’s a mix of both my dream jobs, programming and maintenance… i really hope i nail this interview. If i don’t, I’m gonna continue to study and do research to eventually get my career.
I found the Q/A in this video helpful from a learning standpoint nevertheless for an interview. Whether it may be easy or not it does give you a line of thinking to think of question wise.
The answer to question number 5 should also include human-machine interface devices. Not only screens but buttons, boards, buzzers, and control lamps of all kinds.
Thanks a lot for your kind compliment, Mangani! We are always extremely happy to hear such positive feedback! If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out to us. Happy learning!
It's absolutely great, Sir please make videos on SCADA systems like WINCC and Wonderware also describe their integration with PLCs through kepserver with full playlist tutorials thanks
Nice video, can you do a series on instrumentation calibrations? For all process variables. I’d be interested in signing up to the app if this was available! Thanks again
Hello RealPars, As fresh graduate in the field of ICS Automation and Cybersecurity, would love to know the possible paths ahead and the different certification available out there to increase our value and understanding. Kind Regards

Hi realpars.. I want to ask because I'm still a beginner, how is the principle that the PLC input can directly read the 4-20mA signal which is used as a value in the circuit setting …thankyou
Hi there, Thank you for your question! Like the rest of the PLC, the input analog boards are made with various electronic components like transistors, MOSFET, OPS, A/D converters, resistors …etc. The input analog board’s first measurement stage is mainly the A/D converters’ IC chips that take the 4-20mA analog current signal and convert it to digital. It’s a little more complicated than the way it sounds here. Here is a link to help you understand more about the process and electronics. Happy learning!

Can u plz share me the answer of 6 th qsn exactly
i assume this was for an advanced apprentice or job interview, not a level 3 interview? thanks
@@vishnukr8010 Current signal is more preferred over Voltage because Voltage will be lost over increased distance which is not the case for current.
