Blake Token of Ballyglunin Estate

Hey coin collectors, here is a video on the Blake Tokens of Ballyglunin Estate, Co Galway.
These Irish Tokens were used in the 19th century, and was used in a despicable practise of the landlord classes in Ireland (and elsewhere) was the ‘truck’ system whereby employees were sometimes partly paid in ‘Truck’ Tokens, spendable only in the issuer’s own shops, where prices were generally higher than elsewhere.
The token was issued by The Blake family of Ballyglunin Park, Athenry, Co Galway is descended from Richard Caddell who was granted lands in Co Galway.
