I grew up in Missouri and was a rabid Cards fan, listening to Harry broadcast most games on the radio. I moved to the San Francisco area in 1963 and have been a Giants fan for 50+ years. But listening to this broadcast, I found myself rooting for the Cards just as I did all those years listening to Harry on the radio when I was a kid.

I grew up in Southern Indiana, in the suburbs of Louisville, Ky. and I loved the Cards and Harry (everybody else here was a Reds fan). I could pick up KMOX at night and hear my fav announcer call my beloved team.

Thank you for posting this. Cub clips are usually played when Harry was older and voice much thicker. Here Harry is at his finest, calling Cardinal baseball with Jack Buck. A duo that is as good as it gets. What a voice and personality; he built the Cardinal radio network.

6 of the 18 players in the starting lineups are in the Hall of Fame (Mays, Cepeda, McCovey, Marichal, Musial and Gibson). Along with Ken Boyer in 1964, the previous six players also won 8 MVP awards.

Absolutely fantastic hearing this! I really didn't start listening to Caray & Buck until the 1967 magical season. Never missed a game all season. Tough to do while living in Omaha and relying on the sometimes wavering signal from KFEQ in St. Joseph, MO. My parents may have wondered wrong with their 15-year old son, but at least they knew where I was. Nowadays living in Wichita all we get are pukey Royals games. MLB's prohibition on streaming audio broadcasts (from the likes of KMOX) is sick.

My team just one the World Series. I was saying, "I wish Harry could have called the series."

How about the players...Juan Marichal, Willie Mays, Stan Musial, Bill White, Curt Flood, Ken Boyer....to quote the announcer, "Holy Cow". How bout a Busch Bavarian Jack? Drinks good, Harry!

According to somebody, Harry was NOT a fan of Boyer, and I can't remember why.
