Back in the early 90's, when X-men cards were popular, we used to collect the comics and cards, and sit around all day during the summer drawing them at sleepovers. It's a blessing to be able to watch you in real-time, Jim. You are one of my personal favorites and have influenced my art very much. Whenever someone has asked me to show them X-men comics, I always show them the ones you did first. Those are what the X-men have been ingrained into my head to look like :)
@@VZAAGE Ah, I had a hunch that might have been the case, but figured I should type it up anyway. Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely do this :) Great job on the vids and coverage, btw VZA :)
What an age we live in. Not long ago, to have the opportunity to watch a giant like Jim Lee draw would've been either impossible or attending an expensive class in a specific place at a specific time. Now we can just watch a master at our leisure. Oh, then watch any number of other videos VZA has curated where Jim or others discuss technique and so on. Just watching this guy be...human as he makes his pieces is such a delight. Incredible. Thanks for these!
Thanks, man. I often wonder if my efforts are worth it but I guess if I didn't view live then this is how I'd want to see it so... I'll keep going forward.
You are my childhood drawing hero. It is so great to be able to see you draw and I wish I could have seen this as a kid in the 80s and 90s. Thank you for doing these videos!
Jim Lee as an art teacher would be cool. Tutorials like other RUclipsrs who draw figures based on reference poses etc. such as. Reiq or something. Would be a dream. Das wäre fantastisch.
No doubt...all 4! You’d think more comic artists would draw them...ud think there’d be a better TMNT comic on the market too but that’s not the case...??

so-000 is all the shit he has on t-shirts at walmart also just him warming up? because I have almost all his books from the nineties so I see the evolution of crap and if this ain't crap it definitely has crap growing on it.
Hate how he uses white out in his drawings. Jim Lee has good technical skills, but he lacks the artistic ability of Jae Lee, who does incredible work on the fly that has perfect light and shadow effects from the beginning.
IMP3TIGO Jae Lee doesn't do much work on the fly since his early days, he does a lot of careful shadow study and is awesome but not easy to compare to Jim Lee who is a real professional when it comes to comic art. I don't really dig the use of whiteout and tissue paper for his backgrounds, but they're just shortcuts to finish his sketches so he can give them away
Potentially, a permanent ink on good quality paper, could last for hundreds of years. But I wonder with the white out... No doubt it will last long enough to scan and print for a comic, but for keeping framed and such, I don't think it will last very long. Either color degrading differently than the paper or crumble and disappear with time (likely both, with white out being a lot brighter than a sun bleached paper, and then getting downhill from there).
Jim is like the Bob Ross of comics. He draws an amazing picture in 30 minutes and makes it look effortless.
"Happy little guns"!
so true
