    It looks like a tantalum

      It is not a tantalum, it is sintered aluminium, solid electrolyte, can work up to to 175 degrees NXP part.

      They look a bit the same but are not. A tantalum is much rounder, like a water-drop, Sintered Aluminum, like here is used, is more square. Tantalums are very good but not for pulses that can go over the max working voltage. They used them a lot in early smps designs and that turned out to be a wrong application. Always use versions with a high enough voltage rating (like 2 times the WV), overkill does not exist in this case. If you use them correct they last a very long time.
