    Hi Allysia,
    I'm an absolute beginner.
    What pace do you suggest I go about learning Mikrokosmos?
    Is it acceptable to learn 1 or 2 parts a day or do I need to learn more?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi. Regarding exercise 10, would you advise to use the finger slide to play the black key like you do or to play inside the black keys? My fingers are thick and the slide seems to work better for me but I am afraid of missing the point of the exercise :S.

    Hi. My question is about the Bartok books. Underneath the pieces and to the right in brackets, Bartok has a time. 20 seconds for example. What does that mean? Thank you for you contribution to piano learning.

    The difficulty I'm having with the early pieces here is that a lot of them just don't sound very musical to me. Occasionally a part of my brain will lock onto something musical and I end up playing the incorrect note or holding it the incorrect duration because that's what I'm expecting next for it to sound musical or good, but what is actually next is an unexpected note or held for an unexpected length. Half the time it feels like a random note pressing exercise.
    Anyway, thank you so much for playing them and letting me know that it isn't just me, this work is supposed to sound like this.
    Thank you!

      Right,
      For me the starting ones sound like random notes… 🤔

      I recognized immediately tunes from Hungarian folksongs. But the point is to develop sheer technical skills. Remember, Microcosm Vol.1. should be started at about age seven, and Vol.6. should be mastered by about fourteen the latest (when students enter high school in Hungary and move onto orchestral works).

    What's the meaning of the little scores above each exercise?

      I'd like to know this too. Did you ever find out?

      @@compassionandhumility At least, up to No22 represents the notes used, and thus, hints the fingering.
      It's useless up to No13, where you start having hand jumps.

      It shows the "range" of the piece is my understanding. Top and bottom notes.

    Hi, I have a question about exercise No 12. The tempo on the sheet says that 1 minute have 100 half-notes, right? So I figured that it would be 200 quarter notes per minute, so I set the metronome of my digital piano to 4/4 200 beats per minute. Is it correct? I'm kinda confused, it's the first time I see this kind of tempo marking using half-notes and not quarter-notes...

    • @PianotvNet
      @PianotvNet  8 лет назад +1

      Good question! When it says something like (half note) = 100, then I set the metronome to 100. What this means is that for every tick of the metronome, a half note beat elapses.
      You know how when the metronome is (quarter note) = 100, and each tick represents a quarter note? And 8th notes happen in the space between quarter notes? It's the same idea when the half note is the beat. Suddenly quarter notes get treated like 8th notes.
      You're not wrong to set the metronome to 200 - it'll still end up being the same speed in the end. It's just tough to play along with such a fast beat!

    • @danielribastandeitnik9550
      @danielribastandeitnik9550 8 лет назад

      Yeah, it's really tough, the ticks are really close together. I began with 150 and worked my way to 200. Thanks for the explanation!

    Other question, did you made an error on the ninth bar of exercise No 14? It's two half-notes and it sounded like you played as quarter notes..

      Yuuup, that was definitely a mistake. Whoops! Sorry about that. I'll see about making a note of that on the video.
