This is the sort of thing that RUclips is for. Not spoiled brats taking videos of themselves destroying luxury goods. Just ordinary, everyday human beings doing really cool things, which is really what life is about.
What an act of sheer genius. I love these people. Fearless and creative. What an amazing combination. I want to try it one day. Might go for a quad though. I am not as brave, smart or creative as this fellow.
Excellent work. This is probably a maiden test flight otherwise he would fly it around. Anyone who bashes this is a fool. Most cannot even fly this type of helicopter, let alone build one from scratch. It takes outstanding skill to build and tune a scratch-built collective pitch helicopter. A++++
Agree, Airplanes are much easier objects almost anyone can build, but helicopters not, I believe his main propeller engine is weak also, needs more work on the pitching mechanism
Agreed! I'm just starting in this hobby myself (on a 450 cp electric) and i had to build it myself, and flying is certainly a challenge! I've managed a steady hover, but it's definitely much harder than it looks to fly a collective pitch heli.
Jeffrey Wong what do you mean by collective pitch heli ? because its collective pitch only ?? what makes the heli go forward then ? or is it just a developing stage trying figure out how to cycle pitch ?
No, collective pitch is just saying you control both cyclic and collective. On a fixed pitch trainer you only have cyclic control and no collective. (altitude is controlled by throttle on a fixed pitch heli)
Anyone who build models like that bring a big smile on my face and I tip my hat to the man. More like him in this world and it becomes a whole lot more if an interesting place.
Phantastic flying machine, you must be a brilliant technician at the milling machine and other tools to be able to build such a Little Monster from scratch ! Thumbs up !!!!
excellent work. I am truly impressed with the design of your transition from the engines to the mast. very nice engineering. I am also building a heli with a 42cc chainsaw engine. Mine will be timing belt driven with a 90 degrees angle drive hooked to the pinion and main gear. Again very nice work !
To build a scratch build heli from odds and ends is a task,to make it fly is entirely different thing. This proves skills Loukas has.Bravo.Ikaros would have been proud.
thats what modelling is all about to me- never mind the crappy comments- they come from people who struggle with artf models! brilliant- you are a genius sir!
Getting 2 small engines to work together is most impressive!!!! They purr like a kitten... WOW! I don't know why one would need 100CC's for that helicopter but I love the machine! TOTALLY impressive!!!
This is fantastic! Everyone calling this crap doesn't know a thing about engineering, and how even getting it to this stage was quite a challenge, brillient!
THat heli is Freaking Awsome...I love to see people build something instead of going to the store and getting ready made stuff...keep up the great work
Did you ever made something really fly for yourself, by designing it, building it, finding very great unconventional solutions, knowing how to adjust and balance it and taking all the risks and so forth? This dude is a master of life-arts.
NIce work. Industrial art! I love to see the crativity and mechanical knoweldge required to "re-source" old machines into something new an ddiffernt. Lovely, just lovely
NIce job Loukas. Props arent quite at a 90 angle, looks Mad Maxish, wanders to the left a bit. Flies descent though, kudos for creativity and engineering. Cheers.
The Tony Stark of RC helicopters... Who cares if it rough around the edges or doesn't sound like a 100cc is suppose to sound, the thing is handmade. It's like a Mad Max version of a T-Rex
I kinda agree with you, I just would not let development get in the way of personal freedom. I believe development comes as a result of personal freedom, if the technology were here yet, I'm sure someone would have been making millions on flying bikes. :-) I wouldn't mind more recycling though, toys as well. But take a look at a company like Walkera. They develop brilliant "toys" with innovative use of new and old technology I am sure will be used in everyday household appliances in the future.
Of course. Once lifted there is no limit for a heli (only the power of the transmitter or dangerous glitches can come into play if you fly really far), it's a decision of the pilot. Guess he doesn't like to crash. He knows what he does and keeps it safe, he's carefull. Flying a heli is absolutely not easy, And i guess it's a test flight, nice tricks might be seen in his next video, this model has power enough for that :-)
Just curious, did you add the extra engine "because you could", or is there a need for the extra power?
That rite there is way freakin cool! Just Awsome! Looks like the engine, with it bein out front of the birl like it is, would make the "center of gravity" way way way way off! Looks like the bird would be really super duper nose heavy! Good job of the hovering flight trials!
Maybe for you but for educated people it is good piece of engineering and it is probably more important than anything that you will achieve in your whole life.
Next time tell the guy in the background choppin wood with the chain saw to knock it off i'm trying to hear the heli. Congrats on original machine it looks awesome , is it 2 chainsaws ?
This has to be the coolest thing i have ever seen. Does the drive train/differential get HOT from all the hot air from the engines getting blown back over it? GREAT work! +5000000 kudos I'd love to hear more details on this heli!
is the reason it never gets higher then 12' because it weighs more than a humvee? Wow-kudos for the persistence it took to create and get this thing flying though.
Wow is that just 2 chainsaw engines with 1 connecting rod between them? Sounds like there is a clutch inside of there, but how does the tail rotor assembly work? Blows my mind.
littlemog92 I would guess that the same clutch assembly that is used to drive the saw-chain could be used to drive the power to the main and tail rotor. Otherwise he would not have been able to hold the blades still while he was tuning the engines just after starting them.
il mio con il blocco coda tende ad andare verso sx al momento del decollo,ma se tolgo il blocco coda gira leggermente intorno a se stesso. cosa devo registrare? i trim sono tutti a 0 ho paura a farlo alzare per paura di non controllarlo.
might be the video/frame speed, but the rpm looks low on the head- just seems a little sluggish looking, reminds me of my first few Hirobo Shuttle flights- thought lower RPM would help stability...nah, crank it up, add some flybar weights if its too twitchy :)
Unique machine; longest series of tail-in hovers we've seen for a while. I hung in with this video hoping when he felt it was reliable he would put it up high and throw it around a little.
+wildthing302 Always someone to point out the negatives, be positive,he got it built and off the ground! lol surely a challenge alone to get it all working! !!!
Nice build, Did you start with duel engines? Or was it a design change after you started this project if so, what was the reason, balance ,or to lift he gas tank, redundancy so if one fails the other can get it home?
This is the sort of thing that RUclips is for. Not spoiled brats taking videos of themselves destroying luxury goods. Just ordinary, everyday human beings doing really cool things, which is really what life is about.
Very good comment! I agree 100%, thanks!
What an act of sheer genius. I love these people. Fearless and creative. What an amazing combination. I want to try it one day. Might go for a quad though. I am not as brave, smart or creative as this fellow.
every time I watch this video, I get inspired...and remember my DIY Helicopter from Zenoah 230 engine....
283 People could not even dream about doing some thing like this! WELL DONE!
Excellent work. This is probably a maiden test flight otherwise he would fly it around. Anyone who bashes this is a fool. Most cannot even fly this type of helicopter, let alone build one from scratch. It takes outstanding skill to build and tune a scratch-built collective pitch helicopter. A++++

Κύριε Μιχαηλίδη σας εκφράζω το θαυμασμό μου συγχαρητήρια.
Anyone who build models like that bring a big smile on my face and I tip my hat to the man. More like him in this world and it becomes a whole lot more if an interesting place.
itd be alot cooler if he left the chain saw blades on it and let it be a flying chain saw. i guess spinning steel blades are just as good
Phantastic flying machine, you must be a brilliant technician at the milling machine and other tools to be able to build such a Little Monster from scratch ! Thumbs up !!!!

One nice thing about this rc helicopter is that it uses gasoline rather than batteries and thus has more power and can fly longer. Nice job. (kalos)
This is fantastic! Everyone calling this crap doesn't know a thing about engineering, and how even getting it to this stage was quite a challenge, brillient!
This reminds of me of the movie Road Warrior but only it is a heli instead of a car... I like it, this is really cool... Great job.
Nice home made heli. good job with connecting the clutch and transfer case. Clever workman ship
THat heli is Freaking Awsome...I love to see people build something instead of going to the store and getting ready made stuff...keep up the great work
Looks surprisingly stable and responsive for somthing handmade. It's not the first heli you've built, is it?
ενα μπραβο κ απο μενα το ελικοπτερο υπεροχο το ιδικο κ ο πιλοτος
μονο ενα μεγαλο μπραβο
It's so rough an ready looking. I love it.
Can't believe one can fly a Heli with a chainsaw engine!
Abhi aero
Rc plane
Did you ever made something really fly for yourself, by designing it, building it, finding very great unconventional solutions, knowing how to adjust and balance it and taking all the risks and so forth? This dude is a master of life-arts.
It flies. Make a full Sized version my friend and be free like a bird
alishanmao true. Fly off into the sunset like on your profile pic.
i didn't see it actually flying, i just saw a whole lot of hovering.
ALISHANMAO FOR PRESIDENT OF ALL HUMANITY!!! WE LOVE YOU MAN!!! BEST TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MY BROTHER.
an electric grinder connects the rotor head and the engines.. got to love ingenuity, love it!
Wonderful machine, he's just new to piloting.
Huevos-o-steel to stand that close. A talented and insanely brave individual.
what a super genius People just near to Yamaha Rmax great job mr loukas from Tithorea
Believe it or not I0.0 hp is enough to lift a man of the ground on a hand glider or ultralight. This Is just awesome!
Chainsaw engine? Two Chainsaw engines?? You're a crazy badass
what are you using for stablization and gain?
NICE well done
NIce work. Industrial art! I love to see the crativity and mechanical knoweldge required to "re-source" old machines into something new an ddiffernt. Lovely, just lovely
This is just for entertainment and hobby. Still your idea is not bad.It will be nothing for experts but is an inspiration for new comer.
NIce job Loukas. Props arent quite at a 90 angle, looks Mad Maxish, wanders to the left a bit.
Flies descent though, kudos for creativity and engineering.
Cheers.
good heli.... you must be very smart to build that... and iron out the kinks with success. looks like it might fly all day...
The Tony Stark of RC helicopters... Who cares if it rough around the edges or doesn't sound like a 100cc is suppose to sound, the thing is handmade. It's like a Mad Max version of a T-Rex

Easily the most bad ass sounding heli i have ever heard
Very neat, I see the gearbox off of a 7" black and decker angle grinder and a few other industrial maintenance tid-bits. Bravo on your ingenuity.
Of course. Once lifted there is no limit for a heli (only the power of the transmitter or dangerous glitches can come into play if you fly really far), it's a decision of the pilot. We should admire about his technological ideas. If you can help others how to make and share your technology.
Excellent . What gyro did you use or is it just bare piloting skills ?
Interesting... but only for static flight ?
Impressive build but is that as high as it can go?!
Great Job!!!!! cheers from Turkey!
That rite there is way freakin cool! Just Awsome! Looks like the engine, with it bein out front of the birl like it is, would make the "center of gravity" way way way way off! Looks like the bird would be really super duper nose heavy! Good job of the hovering flight trials!
Will be kind of nice finding out what is the max play-load? because with that powerplant! have to be very large!
Did you make the head, main mast, flybars, and swash by hand?
Maybe for you but for educated people it is good piece of engineering and it is probably more important than anything that you will achieve in your whole life.
Next time tell the guy in the background choppin wood with the chain saw to knock it off i'm trying to hear the heli. Congrats on original machine it looks awesome , is it 2 chainsaws ?
Looks good too, like a steampunk dragonfly.
very nice helicopter ,sr i wish i had a little of your knowledge so i can make something this nice .!!
signomi, Yosou Kosta !!!!!!!!!!! Bravo!!!!!!!!!!

Just wondering if you plan on designing a body for it?
and how did he balance it with an engine that heavy?
Good work, but does it fly, or only hover? Knightsix
This beast looks much cooler than it files
does it have any forward motion?.............or is it just up and down?
Yes but will it trim the hedge?
Wow is that just 2 chainsaw engines with 1 connecting rod between them? Sounds like there is a clutch inside of there, but how does the tail rotor assembly work? Blows my mind.

This is one clever guy! a real engineer!!!! big thumbs up to you my friend!
you have alot of faith in your skills I wouldnt want to come nearby these props. Great job!
I haven't seen one of those pickup trucks in so long. What happened to them?
Like the Mad Max style of this chopper!!
Looks like a beast!!
I've seen scratch built planes, but scratch build heli?; speechless! Awesome work man!
how much weight d you think it can carry?
il mio con il blocco coda tende ad andare verso sx al momento del decollo,ma se tolgo il blocco coda gira leggermente intorno a se stesso. cosa devo registrare? i trim sono tutti a 0 ho paura a farlo alzare per paura di non controllarlo.
Talk about torque sure would like to see him fly this after several weeks of practice it would make a good drone for light recon.
Thise are the cutest little carbs iv ever seen :)
How did you hook up both engines to the single output? - What happens if one fails?
Do they go through some sort of differential but backwards?
Interesting idea, but it does not seem to have enough power to get out of ground effect range, either that or or the blades need to be longer.
might be the video/frame speed, but the rpm looks low on the head- just seems a little sluggish looking, reminds me of my first few Hirobo Shuttle flights- thought lower RPM would help stability...nah, crank it up, add some flybar weights if its too twitchy :)
I'm pretty sure that is a fan and shroud for cooling the engine.
Is that as high as it would go?
good job. i dont think many other people could do this.
Я не слишком опытный в в вертолётах, но мне кажется что двигателю очень тяжело... И при этом конструкция явно вибрирует... А проект конечно крутой!
Superb flying skills and a very unique design! καλός :-)
Looks like the gearbox is an old angle grinder. Full marks for innovation and recylcling :)
Unique machine; longest series of tail-in hovers we've seen for a while. I hung in with this video hoping when he felt it was reliable he would put it up high and throw it around a little.
I have wondered....how do you couple two engines together with out one pulling against the other....nice job....!
Is that a turbo charger on the front of it?
Hi Boss, What size of swash plate you got there? Thanks..
Ya to deadly old man lol i bet many old lady love your stao at the club good work old man
this heli is cool can u plz say me hw did u make this?
Kann man damit auch 3D smacken? :-)
@NaiiZuro 1.6cc is usually the largest nitro engine. Anything bigger is gas, 2 or 4 stroke
nice job on the heli
good job, I think that if you install the engine in yaw direction, it flying without roll drift.
is that a turbo on the front?
Awesome. I started with r/c helicopters about 30 years ago and I didn't do as well as this. Great job,
I am eager to know that How its Made?
nice helicopter. it looks very cool.
i think the blades are turning to slow...and not enough twist on the blades for good lift...alot of RPMs are being wasted..but very cool build...
+wildthing302 Always someone to point out the negatives, be positive,he got it built and off the ground! lol surely a challenge alone to get it all working! !!!
Nice build, Did you start with duel engines? Or was it a design change after you started this project if so, what was the reason, balance ,or to lift he gas tank, redundancy so if one fails the other can get it home?
that's real wild beast!
outstanding!!
Yea, it really small, versatile and having a loud gas engine lend it great indoor flying properties.
this one looks like is flies better than the BERGEN gassers ! is it just me or does the tail boom look like its flexing inflight?
