The Baby FN 9mm: FN 503

  • This little EDC from FN is very thin and holds 6 plus 1 or 8 + 1 rounds of 9mm in its 1 inch of thickness. It turned out to be great at the range. We had looked at these before and neither of liked the way the thing long grip felt at the counter at an FFL or two. Finally, we decided, what the heck, we will give one a try! Glad we did!

    I have the fn503, I carry when I have to dress nice for work. I bought it after buying the FN509 tactical and the FNX45 tactical. It's a great gun, uber reliable and comfortable to shoot. That being said, I think there are better options. With the 8 round mag in it, it's the dame size as the P365XL. That's what I'm buying next.

    Another excellent video review. Agree things are starting to quiet down. I see more product on the shelves and prices are starting to come down. That’s especially true for ammo. It’s still much higher than it needs to be but at least it is starting to come down. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice review, thanks. I love my FN503. I can't wait to retire and move to a carry state. Capacity is an issue for some, I'm in NJ, 10 round max even in full size guns so not so much for me. At the range it's accurate and easy to shoot. I didn't have the break in issues you had. Clean firing right out of the box. It did stove pipe once when my son was shooting, but I think that was more of an inexperienced shooter rather than the gun. About 1000 rounds so far and no issues. Could be a little easier to field strip but it does get easier over time. Thanks Again

    As always another great review. I’m a big FN fan. Absolutely love my FNS 9c. Very under rated / under appreciated compact-subcompact. And my 509 midsize is great also. But I feel the 503 missed the mark. Like you stated the grip from front to back strap is very wide. I guess they did this to fill your hand since it’s thin but it just screams Diamondback DB9... which holds zero interest for me. Also the low capacity in today’s market just isn’t a draw. My Walther PPS m2 that over had for over 5 years is comparable in size and capacity but with a better trigger in my opinion. Great review as always!

    For warm weather off duty carry, I don’t want extra rounds pulling my cargo shorts down, so 6 + 1 is ok, and this thing shoots so well. It’s a compact that you can take to the range, and not hate it. It fits the bill, does the job, and is accurate.

    Looks nice and easy to make good hits with. FN has excellent machining and they make great guns.
    They really needed to come out with it prior to the Sig P365. Less than a 10 round mag today is a deal breaker. (Not for me but for the masses.) Add a longer trigger reset than what is becoming the norm, no pic rail, no way to attach a RMR, and no night sites and we see how the design is behind the times as to what is currently available from others. While it's very nice I doubt it will become a high seller.

    Been looking at cc 9 and 380 guns for awhile. My impression is that the 503 looks, feels, and is finished like a $450 gun that sells for around $450. Everything else in this class feels like a $200 gun for sale for $450… YMMV

    Thanks for a well done review. For the capacity challenged 9's, I prefer the MC1sc but like seeing reviews on the FN. What is the width not counting that obnoxious slide release? I think I have a interesting study regarding what I call the Applegate Grip Ratio based on medical sword fighting that emphasizes the ability to index the blade's direction or, in this case, muzzle by feel.

    FN makes a better product than Sig and Springfield, I don't give a damn about the extra capacity of those, I have the P365 and the Hellcat, love the Hellcat, the P365 grip sucks, 6 rounds are fine, if you know how to shoot.

  • @pewpew9193
    @pewpew9193 3 года назад +1

    I really like these, but it just isn't close to a Glock 43x/48 MOS.
    With the Glock, you get 15+1 with S-15 mags (almost double the capacity of the 503 extended mag), optic ready, rail for a nice TLR-7sub & way better market support.
    Now if you just really like FN guns & want it because it's an FN, that's totally fine, but if you're looking for a primary CCW, this one is not only outclassed by the Glocks, but by several others as well.

    • @alexwalker5645
      @alexwalker5645 Год назад

      Can’t buy/own Glocks where I’m at, and 10 capacity limit on top of that. The slim size of this firearm for ccw is nice.
