I feel so nostalgic hearing this, good old days when our single concern was about being burned to death, tied on a shaft, falsely accused of witchcraft
I don't want to spoil the fun but large witch hunts and public burnings are more of an early modern than a medieval things. There are recorded witchcraft and sorcery court hearings throughout the medievals but those were largely individual cases and not symptomatic for a broader sorcery hysteria. Apart from that, people sentenced to death by church courts for sorcery were mostly hung or drowned and not burned.

It became one of the greatest and most well-known songs of the 13th century. Today, many hundreds of years later, a young Colombian woman sings to this melody and also makes me feel good. But happy to re-hear this old original version. How nostalgic...

Ma Pa it shouldn’t be Catalan because that refers to the Catalan language, and Castilian is the Spanish spoken in Spain. And since shakira is known for singing in Spanish and the Moors were in Spain for quite some time, saying Catalan wouldn’t make sense.

This song actually works quite well with the BardCore style of music because I think it makes use of the pentatonic scale which was common in Medieval music.
I came here from a tik-tok post saying that owners of the account used this song in their final project, because their teacher only listens to 16th century music. I was definitely not disappointed by the full version.

Back in 1472 I foolishly struck a deal with a fae that I would be granted faelike immortality until this song becomes popular again... I lived through the centuries seeing many styles of music come and go, and especially music from the 15th century become utterly forgotten and honestly thought I'd be safe from the fae's bargain... But like any man who dares to bargain with the fae I was an utter fool as I realized when I heard this song being played again! And now... I am seeing gray hairs in my head and wrinkles appear in my eyes! My time appears to have come at last....
Thou on t'night, ye know mine corse lies not and I'm starting to feeleth t's right Thy attraction Thy tension Thee not seeth, child, this is p'rfection
Midieval parents to their teens:DONT YOU DARE LISTEN TO THIS DEVIL MUSIC. THAT LYRE IS TELLING YOU TO DO SINFUL THINGS! Teen: OH MY GOD IT'S THE 12TH CENTURY YOU'RE SO LAMETH!
This is such a nostalgic song to me, I miss the days of burning witches at the stake, and I still remember this song playing at a few of the executions I attended
But the tapestries bear immortality beyond her years, surely one cannot ask a fair maiden to forever bear this one time lapse in morals to confess love to the blacksmith's son.
Imagine the bards playing this literally in the 1400s tavern…. People would completely be mesmerized by the rhythm and melody. Obviously they’d be puzzled by the unfamiliar notes of it but will start to love it…. Probably declare it the music from the heavens. This music would have become so popular that it would make it to the castles of kings and queens they would listen to it every day! And than one day people will realize that the bards were actually time travelers gone into the future and came with the music of the 20th century! What a tale it would be……
I played this during a D&D session during a festival segment and it played for an hour and a half before one of my players finally said "Hey wait a second-" This stuff is gold

I came here from a tik-tok post saying that owners of the account used this song in their final project, because their teacher only listens to 16th century music. I was definitely not disappointed by the full version.

Maidens up in here this fine evening
Fight not
We haveth the barbarians up in here
Fight not
Shakireth, Shakireth
I knew not that dame could dance like this
She makes a lord wish to speak foreign tongues
¿Cómo se llama? (Sí), bonita (sí)
Mi casa, su casa (Shakireth, Shakireth)
Oh newborn, when thy speaketh like that
Thy maketh a damsel go mad
So be scholarly (sí) and continue (sí)
Observing the signage of mine body (uno, dos, tres, quatro)
Mineself am on this fine evening
Thou knoweth mine childbearing hips doeth not tell falsehoods (fight not)
and I am beginning to observe it is no falsehood
Thine worldy attraction, thine tension
Do you see it not, child, this is perfection
Alas, dame, I can lay mine eyes on thy body moving
And it's taking me by carriage to being crazy
And mineself had not a clue in the slightest
Until I laid eyes upon you dancing (yeah)
And when thee walketh up on the theatre stage
Even a beast cannot ignore the way thee move thine body, lass (just moveth)
And everything so rambunctious, the way thee right and left it
Thus thee can keep on shaking it (let us depart)
I kneweth not that dame could dance like this
She makes a lord wish to speak foreign tongues
¿Cómo se llama? (Sí), bonita (sí)
Mi casa, su casa (Shakira, Shakira)
Oh newborn, when thy speaketh like that
Thy maketh a damsel go mad
So be scholarly (sí) and continue (sí)
Observing the signage of mine body (uno, dos, tres, quatro)
Mineself am on this fine evening
Thou knoweth mine childbearing hips doeth not tell falsehoods (fight not)
and I am beginning to observe thee, sire
Come on, let us depart, without haste
Do you see not, child, así es perfecto?
They knoweth I am on this fine evening, mine childbearing hips doeth not tell falsehoods
and I am beginning to observe it is no falsehood
Thine worldy attraction, thine tension
Do you see it not, child, this is perfection
Oh, sire, I lay mine own eyes on thine body moving
Half animal, half beast
I knoweth, knoweth not what myself am doing
Alas, thou seem to have a plan
My will and chastity
Have cometh to fail this moment, fail this moment
Observe, I am doing mine best, but I am unable to, so you are aware
It is difficult to enword (uno, dos, tres, quatro)
Baila en la calle de noche (yeah)
Baila en la calle de día (let's go)
Baila en la calle de noche
Baila en la calle de día
She makes a lord wish to speak foreign tongues
¿Cómo se llama? (Sí), bonita (sí)
Mi casa, su casa (Shakireth, Shakireth)
Oh newborn, when thy speaketh like that
Thee knoweth you have me entranced
So be scholarly (sí) and continue (sí)
Observing the signage of mine body (uno, dos, tres, quatro)
My lady, feel the conga
Allow me to see thee make movements as if you were from distant lands
Yeah (ladies sí) (yeah yeah)
(Hey, yeah)
¡Mira en Barranquilla se baila así, say it!
En Barranquilla se baila así (yeah)
Alas, brra!
Yeah, she's so fair, every lord's dreamings
A barbarian akin to myself back with the barbs from a lesser kingdom
I return as when 'Pac carried ballistas for Humpty Humpty
We depart the whole barn disoriented
Why the royal guard wish to watch us?
Barbarians and foreigners
I am but a peasant, it's a musical trade
Bo bop so bop, no more do we stealeth fair goods
Barbarians runneth the seas 'cause we own our own vessels (fight not)
Mineself am on this fine evening
Thou knoweth mine childbearing hips doeth not tell falsehoods (fight not)
and I am beginning to observe thee, sire
Come on, let us depart, without haste
Do you see not, child, this is perfecto
Mineself am on this fine evening
Thou knoweth mine childbearing hips doeth not tell falsehoods (fight not)
and I am beginning to observe it is no falsehood
Thine worldy attraction, thine tension
My child, this is perfection
Fight not

this was the song in the parade after my sister was hung for being a witch.
Excellent. Prithee send thine regards to the good sir whost hath killed the witch.
Praised be
burnt at the stake
I hath be alive thy dear sister
I- I- I don’t know what to say
Back in 1472 I foolishly struck a deal with a fae that I would be granted faelike immortality until this song becomes popular again... I lived through the centuries seeing many styles of music come and go, and especially music from the 15th century become utterly forgotten and honestly thought I'd be safe from the fae's bargain... But like any man who dares to bargain with the fae I was an utter fool as I realized when I heard this song being played again! And now... I am seeing gray hairs in my head and wrinkles appear in my eyes! My time appears to have come at last....
Thou on t'night,
ye know mine corse lies not
and I'm starting to feeleth t's right
Thy attraction
Thy tension
Thee not seeth, child, this is p'rfection
This made milk flieth from mine nostrils😂😂😂

Sometimes the magic of existance in this universe reveals itself beyond the dreary darkness. This was one if those moments. 🌻
This is such a nostalgic song to me, I miss the days of burning witches at the stake, and I still remember this song playing at a few of the executions I attended
Those were the days when we used to dance round thay fire with this song if they am correct?

THIS ONE. THIS IS THE BEST COMMENT
But the tapestries bear immortality beyond her years, surely one cannot ask a fair maiden to forever bear this one time lapse in morals to confess love to the blacksmith's son.
This rlly takes me back to my middle school days... in the 1430s....

You mean modestly and otherworldly dear
Imagine the bards playing this literally in the 1400s tavern…. People would completely be mesmerized by the rhythm and melody. Obviously they’d be puzzled by the unfamiliar notes of it but will start to love it…. Probably declare it the music from the heavens. This music would have become so popular that it would make it to the castles of kings and queens they would listen to it every day!
And than one day people will realize that the bards were actually time travelers gone into the future and came with the music of the 20th century! What a tale it would be……
I'd love to read a novel about this!
The way this music is made I bet there could be a movie about this time traveling bards ….. forget about the novel 😉
The church would try to ban it. They HATED polyphonic music.
@@trulysalman84 Keep talking..
I could absolutely see it being really popular in medieval Spain specifically BEFORE The Reconquista
I played this during a D&D session during a festival segment and it played for an hour and a half before one of my players finally said "Hey wait a second-" This stuff is gold
I bet it was hilarious when the player noticed about the song xD
