In days of yore, where castles stood,
A tale of hips, both strong and good,
Fair maiden moves with ancient grace,
    Her hips a dance, a poet's embrace.
    Chorus:
    Hips that sway in candlelight,
    A bard's delight, a wondrous sight,
    In medieval halls they gleam,
    Her hips, a mesmerizing dream.
Through meadows green and forests deep,
Her hips in rhythms, secrets keep,
With every step, a saga told,
In verses bright, in rhymes of gold.
    Chorus:
    Hips that sway in candlelight,
    A bard's delight, a wondrous sight,
    In medieval halls they gleam,
    Her hips, a mesmerizing dream.
Beneath the moon, by starry streams,
Her hips inspire the sweetest dreams,
    In troubadour's enchanting lore,
    Her hips, a song forevermore.
    Chorus:
    Hips that sway in candlelight,
    A bard's delight, a wondrous sight,
    In medieval halls they gleam,
    Her hips, a mesmerizing dream.
So ends this tale of hips divine,
    In bardic verses, they entwine,
    A timeless dance, a lullaby,
In echoes of a medieval sky.

Kottonkandy09 Yes! Two best friends move to the city together. They’re broke but it’s okay, they’ve got each other. Now, they have to furnish their flat. They head to a local Goodwill. There they discover a funky antique sitting on a last markdown shelf. They purchase it. It’ll be a perfect centerpiece on the coffee table. One of them is polishing it and notices a strange quote: “Say where you hope to go, for you I will show.” Odd. She keeps fiddling with it and a portal opens...

Few of the Salem trials lead to burning. a lot of hanging, and one man was crushed

    • @Siebenbart
      @Siebenbart 4 года назад +37

I don't want to spoil the fun but large witch hunts and public burnings are more of an early modern than a medieval things. There are recorded witchcraft and sorcery court hearings throughout the medievals but those were largely individual cases and not symptomatic for a broader sorcery hysteria. Apart from that, people sentenced to death by church courts for sorcery were mostly hung or drowned and not burned.

I remember it clearly...I was 13 and it was my first time at our local tavern with my brother. Some bathers played this piece. the whole tavern turned into a never-before-seen dance floor. It became one of the greatest and most well-known songs of the 13th century. Today, many hundreds of years later, a young Colombian woman sings to this melody and also makes me feel good. But happy to re-hear this old original version. How nostalgic...

Ma Pa it shouldn’t be Catalan because that refers to the Catalan language, and Castilian is the Spanish spoken in Spain. And since shakira is known for singing in Spanish and the Moors were in Spain for quite some time, saying Catalan wouldn’t make sense.

Imagine the bards playing this literally in the 1400s tavern…. People would completely be mesmerized by the rhythm and melody. Obviously they’d be puzzled by the unfamiliar notes of it but will start to love it…. Probably declare it the music from the heavens. This music would have become so popular that it would make it to the castles of kings and queens they would listen to it every day!
And than one day people will realize that the bards were actually time travelers gone into the future and came with the music of the 20th century! What a tale it would be……

Back in 1472 I foolishly struck a deal with a fae that I would be granted faelike immortality until this song becomes popular again... I lived through the centuries seeing many styles of music come and go, and especially music from the 15th century become utterly forgotten and honestly thought I'd be safe from the fae's bargain... But like any man who dares to bargain with the fae I was an utter fool as I realized when I heard this song being played again! And now... I am seeing gray hairs in my head and wrinkles appear in my eyes! My time appears to have come at last....

Because it's more subdued, more intimate. The original was loud and performative, like the beautiful person is up on stage showing off to everyone, everyone is dancing and having fun, here its quieter and slower, and that changes the mood. People dont play music like that all the time, it just sounds more seductive.

Takiyah Walker Shakespeare is technically modern English, as are most of the “Middle English” comments! Here’s Middle English from part of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales: I wol biwaille, in manere of tragedie, the harm of hem that stoode in heigh degree, and fillen so that ther nas no remedie to brynge hem out of hir adversitee. (Middle English is actually so darn cool if you have any interest in hybridization of languages. Germanic English was slowly being influenced by French, and you get this weird, confusing conglomeration that ended up becoming modern English. The above looks vaguely like modern English but is pronounced very Germanic.)
