Great video I figured you would like the Tipton one. The great thing about the swabs is they are stiffer so you can dig out more crap in the lug recess areas. The patches are great but the rigidity of the swabs make it that much better.
I got those Tipton rods with a big range box kit years ago from "Uncle Larry". Been using em ever since...pretty handy. Thanks for the nice vids and all the information you're putting out. It is appreciated.
I have the Tipton kit "Plastic" same as you have there and I use the Dental packing, but I really like the one you have for patches, they work well it seems....when you screw off the barrel is when you can really tell how well the lug cleaners do, when I change out barrels my lug area is always clean..Great Vid John👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎
Love it. Ordered the boretech. It's important to know (and this was probably user error, but it was not clear on their site) that if you have a 3 lug, you have to order a different squeegee. Only $15, but when you have to place a separate order and pay an additional $12 for shipping, it's kind of a kick in the ding ding
Just a heads up. Midway had the Bore Tech 2 lug wiper for way cheaper and cheaper shipping. I got it for like $12 plus $7 shipping. Then I bought the Pro Red handle metal Rod. The combo should be great. Less than $35 total.
besides patches do you have any suggestions on chamber cleaning brushes and or swabs for 22lr for bolt action. i have a BA and frequently have brass stuck in chamber due to sticky residue. Im assuming the lube/carbon residue from 22lr rounds.
Ok! Great follow up. Will be getting the tipton. What is the prtection/ towel that is on the stock? It looks to be just the nuts for a field or range cover…enjoy your vids!
I know this is completely unrelated to the topic of the video (thanks by the way), but do you by chance remember what fluting depth you went with on your bolt? I’m looking at getting a defiance myself and I like the depth you went with.
With all the gear you carry and meticulous you are, I'm surprised some cotton rolls that are easily left with the Tipton kit (in a bag with the plastic rods) prevent you from truly using the tool as designed. Back to Erik Cortina Videos!
I know what you're saying and I guess we all pick our battles. For me it's just about using the same supplies I would use while traveling and minimizing the chances of running out of anything and to just make things simple. I've had zero issues running the Tipton rod since then with patches instead of cotton rolls and I've been really happy with it.

Thanks for the tips!

I love my luxury class PMA action cleaning Kit. (I got it with an SWN coupon). Someday I'll get their rifle cleaning cradle.
I’ve had the Midway USA “blue”Tipton tools since the early 2000s . They are still working!
I’ve had that Tipton set for many years. Nothing fancy but works as advertised.

Hey John,
Not playing catch in this video ✌️
Just bustin your balls🤪
Good info
Thanks for your hard work helping us.
😂 yeah in this one I couldn’t catch the right words…
Hello John. Good information in the videos.
You mentioned traveling. Have you done a video on flying with your firearms and gear to a match?
It’s been a while but I’ll do another one coming up this month as I get ready for BSWN.

Same one I use they work great!!!
Good to hear!
Can you do a video of removing the carbon ring? Keep up the great work I am learning a ton!!
Love the Boretech.
Where do you get a rubber mat like you have to protect the stock? I like that idea I'm looking and I can't find one where did you get it?
Yes I was wondering the same thing?
Great job John.. Lot's of good info.
Thank you

I use small 2 or 3 gallon trash bags, slip it over the stock under the bore guide it doesn't move and protects your stock from the solvents
Tipton Action/Chamber Cleaning Tool Set -- $11.99
along with Dental Cotton Rolls No. 2 Medium
Any preferences to cleaning solvent manufacturers? There are so many…
My favorite right now is KG Products and Boretech is a close second.

I honestly don’t remember but I think it was the deepest.
Use the swabs man !
