      These three lion were brothers. They were separated from their birth pride at Werribee Zoo (an open range park run by the same organization) when they were 18 months old (the age lion males are usually chased away from their birth pride) and lived in this enclosure the rest of their lives. The last one died in 2016 after a stroke. He was 16 (which is old for a lion)

    • @nefariousmonsterwolf9516
      @nefariousmonsterwolf9516 4 года назад +4

      NO - this is aggressive behaviour, you can tell that they're agitated. perhaps they can smell females nearby in estrus but that said it's nothing serious as this would happen in the wild amongst coalition male lions too there's no killing intent as would be the case in a takeover or something.

    • @maxshaw1330
      @maxshaw1330 2 года назад +3

      Grown male lions don’t “spar.” That’s juvenile behavior. Grown male lions fight to protect their prides and territory, often collaboratively. But “sparring” amongst cooperative males, no.
      This is overcrowding of adult males and clearly at least one is in a bad mood and lashing out at the others. Fortunately, these animals are intelligent and it won’t likely escalate too badly, and certainly the outcome probably won’t result in the death of one or more, as it’s not a true territorial or breeding fight.
      But “sparring”?
      Nah, bro.

      Just like somebody else's comment educate yourself of the nature of the beast!! After you've done extensive research from birth to death then you'll have a better understanding of what they're doing they are playing they are helping each other develop strong skills that they need to protect themselves it doesn't matter if they're in a casement or in the wild they are not going to change their in basic instincts and habits. And a lion roar is one of the best or cougar or puma or tiger or leopard etc!!

      @Karen Tharp seriously Karen you have no idea what you are saying. There are way too many male lions together in such a small space. Lions have a range of 5 square miles as their own territory and will fight intruding lions. Having 4 lions together like this, especially while feeding is just asking for them to fight each other. It is cruel and unnecessary.

      Lions on average are the biggest cat species since a lot of Tiger subspecies like Sumatran’s can average 100- 127kg fully grown. The biggest Tigers are Bengals and Siberians which average 190-205 but Bengals get slightly bigger than Siberians and Lions in the wild weight wise and average 200- 225kg. Barbary Lions are a completely different story as they averaged a crazy 230 while most African lions average 190-215. Don’t rely on the biggest specimens for weight statistics because they tend to be exaggerated or estimated
