I’m currently working at a retail flower shop looking to transition to starting my own floral event design business at home. I stumbled upon this series and found myself resonating with all of the reasons you chose this route too. This series is very helpful and I’m invested. Hope you continue adding more content like this :)

Goodness me! I have just watched the video of your rose garden! Absolutely stunning. Your garden is like an English country garden without a doubt! Beautiful!

Another exceptionally good video. I think I could manage to do a small number of events which means I can still design but I don’t have to work every weekend! The other point about subscription work is being tied into those clients every week. And your point about how the grocery stores have changed the purchasing of flowers, you are right, it has. And really the only way is value adding where clients are willing to pay for that value which is special events like weddings. Much appreciate this video. You have given me more to think about.

Small businesses often fail because the entrepreneur has a beautiful dream but did not spend enough time on market research. There has to be a market for your product or skill set. ❤️🌸

@@KatherineBergmanFloral so true. This market is country and price conscious and I’d never thought about why the florist shops don’t present flowers well and now I understand. You gave me a lot to think about.

Hello, I absolutely love your videos and I am looking foward to your other videos on starting your own home based floral design business. I am in the process of doing this now and I really would like to get more information on this process. Also can you recommend a school or training program that i can take to assist me in the process of starting the business as well as more flower design training. Is this a service that you offer?

Hi, I have a question. Let say there is an event, $3000 for flower decoration, how much you ask customer put down for deposit ? or you ask customer to pay full in advance ? Otherwise, customer could not pay the balance after event is finished. Do you sign contract with customer ? Have you had customer changed his mind and didn't want to hire you ? Or after event, your customer didn't like your design/flower materials (they think you use cheap flowers not make their money worth) and asked some refund or something ? How do you handle all these ? Thank you

Hi. Here's my policy: $500 retainer to reserve the date with the balance due paid in full 2 weeks prior to the event. I have never had a client complain or ask for a refund. I've been doing weddings since 1994! Communicate in detail with your client and manage expectations. I give 110% to each client and adhere closely to the designs and flowers quoted so there are no surprises.
