Joff very helpful been following your great blogs ... So helpful thanks...keep up the good work 👍.and please dont put long ads in ..some yu tubers do sadly ...just done my windscreen with quality black insulation tape and silicone in the corners 🤞
I have a 2017 fiat ducato, to stop the water entering the engine compartment, i cleared all drain holes along the scuttle with a plumbers wire cylinder brunsh, correct size for the holes, flush with water ,each drain hole to ensure they are cleared, i then placed a strip of 1mm thick neoprene X 25mm wide along the bottom of the windscreen ,were it joins the plastic scuttle, end to end, 12.5mm on windscreen, and 12.5 on plastic scuttle, make neat, take your time, i also cleaned the area with alcohol fluid, looks neat and doesnt look out of place. Remove plastic engine cover to expose injectors and cylinder, i then sprayed ACF-50 over the complete parts that i can see getting wet, ACF 50 ,will treat any existing rusting, and prevent further water ingress, replace plastic cover, check every 3 months, and for added protection if your storing for more than 1 week , i place a shallow baking tray pushed under the middle joint connection of drain holes, works very well, and if your storing longer, place a front cab cover over windscreen and long enough to cover scuttle, This procedure may seem long winded, but will save thousands of pounds from water ingress my engine is always has dry as a bone, and i have collected water in the baking tray after very heavy long downpours, apparently water will run down the wiper arm spigots/ motor, and enter the engine that way, Hence the Baking tray and cover.
No probs, ACF50 is the main tool here, its anti corrosion, and has been used by motorcycle show people fir years, protects everthing, i spray it on all joints and linkages, i go under my van and spray on all exposed electrical connections, all spray on my wiper motor, uts the holy grail of protection, Trust me, i used to have a VW T2 1973, sparyed it on distributor to stop moisture, Hands down better than WD40, Once youve had your injectors done, and even if you see corrosion residue on top of cylinder head, this spray will treat the residual corrosion and more importantly protect your engine, keep checking every 3 months, a spray more if required, or lightly soray, it will cope with hot tempertures👍
Thank you for the heads up and advice on this issue. We had sensor damage on our Fiat Ducato van and it was only just over two years old - it cost us as we had to have two sensors plus glow plugs replaced! We wonder how on earth it could happen and if only the dealers would explain how lack of use in winter can cause these problems when we were buying, we would have made sure to drive it more through the winter months. Hubby has been checking the drainage on the windscreen but will get the bonnet up this weekend to check for any water inside following your vlog. Good luck this week and hope you get your van fixed soon
HI Job I definitely think you have a good point. Just had auto glass change cracked windscreen and both fitters made a point of explaining the importance of keeping the drains clear and the drastic damage they regularly see from leaks. Look forward to seeing your fix going forward.
Hi Jof there comes a time when enough is enough. Told you yesterday that I also had power loss, for some reason it happened once on a motorway. Let it cool down it then it ran ok😂. Didn't want to have that experience and the other faults again. Good luck. Clive
Had water leaking from the same drain pipe which exits into the offside wheel arch.On inspection found the pipe was partially blocked allowing water to back up but even after clearing blockage(leaves and bits of tree) it still leaked so pulled the joint in the pipe apart and used good old silicon .This stopped the leak but still have water coming in at opposite side of engine this only happens when bonnet is closed still trying to find where from. All the best and hope your van is gets sorted. Cheers Graham
@juliebackhouse2443 I . I had a Swift 694 with Ducato cab. Had the same problem as Jof. Had water entering scuttle. Drilled a hole in the bottom at the front of the scuttle. Then inserted a drain pipe using black window sealant. It stops the scuttle collecting water. Good luck. Clive.
The drain tube is blocked. Easy fix, this is what I did on my Ducato. Just pull the joint apart where it leaks, it’s only a push fit, push a plumbers drain unblocked through the pipe to clear the blockage. Then dry the joint, put it back together and put a tight layer of PVC electrical insulation tape round the joint. It doesn’t leak water into the engine bay after that. Flush through with plenty of water to completely clear the pipe of debris, it’s normally dead and rotting leaves, then flush through occasionally with more water to clear any future build up. Whole job takes 15 minutes.
I had the same issue with water drain off. The tube was blocked behind the wheel arch and the water in the pipe was backing up and coming out of the joint. So I seal the bottom half of the joint and cleared out the pipe and improved the outlet point behind the wheel arch. No issues since.
My centre scuttle drain leaked - not as bad as yours, just a drip - just pulled it apart and sealed with silicon grease. Easily comes apart in the future if required. Check the 2 outer drains are properly attached to the scuttle - I had one loose but fixed again with a cable tie. I also spray ACF50 anti corrosion spray down the wiper spindles regularly. They can rust up over time. Good luck with the diagnostic on Wednesday.
Oh dear..... i hope you have better luck with vospers than i did. Took my van with similar issues you describe, i told them it wasnt injectors but they said it was part of the elimination of other issues. Well they had my van for 6 weeks and i ended up with £2000 bill for new ECU. Good luck!!!!!
Hi there, I had the same but what I found was the water drain was partly blocked allowing the water to back up, it sound clear, but it’s not,I filled drain with water had air line ready and packed in drain and it was like a plug being released, then the water flow was great no more back up allowing it to leak from that joint area, hope that helps
I found they pinch the centre hose you show behind the wing and the liner which is bad design and fitting from new . I was tempted to cut some liner away to allow the hose to drain easily and keep clear .
Hi Joff noticed mine was leaking in the same place as yours the first time after making sure drains were clear and running water into the scuttle, I pulled it apart sealed it and secured with two large cable ties, rectified concern and have had no issues with water leaking onto the engine cover. It’s a 2019 model
Quite a few years ago I had a 2020 Fiat which developed all sorts of ignition problems, eventually, it was diagnosed as a wiring loom fault. £1500 later I was informed that the wiring loom under the windscreen had rotted out due to water running down from the windscreen!!! Fiat has known about this problem for years and has done nothing about it.
Hi Jof messaged you yesterday. Had the same problem on my Swift 694 now sold. Very bad design. Black window sealant as the pipe fits together then black waterproof tape around pipe. Make sure the drain pipes are leaf free and clear, silver mesh or use a tea strainer cut to size at entry point of drain pipes just under windscreen. Also use black sealant on bottom of screen. Good luck. Clive
Is the 2023 Ducato the same engine.? when I’ve looked at mine it has a material engine cover not a plastic one and below the cover it looks like there is an intercooler running across the engine so can’t see the injectors
Had the same. Use tight rubber sleeving around the joint of that centre drain pipe. It stopped the leak from there but the main ingress seems to be on the left and right sides of the engine compartment below the screen. On mine on the right hand side there is even some sort of plastic drain and pipe to take water away, so Fiat must know water gets in there?
@@MOHOTELADVENTURES It seems because there is a lot of water ingress, it causes condensation and sweating on components. I have used a bit of WD40 to help. I also remove the plastic engine cover from time to time to keep check on any corrosion on injectors and spray with ant-corrosion.
I bought a waterproof cover off Amazon that drops from the windscreen to the floor which I use when my vehicle is sat on my drive to protect from rain etc
