Consider the nonlinear equality constraint x3 = min { x1, x2 }, where the variables x1, x2, x3 are continuous, and x1 and x2 are bounded within the range [0, U]. Propose an (equivalent) reformulation of this constraint as a system of mixed-integer linear constraints. Carefully explain the meaning of the mixed-integer constraints, plus any additional continuous or binary variables you may introduce in your reformulation.

There are many introductory courses in Industrial Engineering. Operations research, statistics, engineering economics, simulation, quality control, design of experiments, supply chain management, just to name a few. You may find other courses on youtube or coursera.
