@@sepperv4044 Naroditsky is more shallow and pedantic lets be honest, yes he know a lot but his videos aren't nearly as entertaining as he tries to be completely neutral and inoffensive
It's a small thing, but I like that there's a little bit of interactivity from the people on the call now. It was the main thing I missed from the in person lectures.
Regulations say that if Magnus decides not to play, 1st and 2nd in candidates will play a match. It would be funny if Alireza gets 2nd, wins a match, and becomes WC anyways.
You just earned a new sub , this was amazing tbh. Would love to see maybe one game that you would analize much more. Pick a game YOU like and present us with your view of "all" logical moves. I like your straight forward evaluation.
It would be nice if there were a Great Players of the Present playlist. I was unhappy after I finished up all of Great Players of the Past, and this series was recommended by RUclips.
Technically Alireza is third in the world because Ding has become active again. Of course Ding is playing 26 games in the next two months so we’ll see if he can maintain his rating under such a grueling process.
I have my reservations about Ding playing 20 Chinese GMs in 3 weeks. Not insinuating any foul play but there has to be an element of nationalistic comradeship that dulls his opponents competitive spirit - keeping in mind his immediate objectives.
Great series GM Finegold! Just to answer some comments below (not related to this video), I have my reservations about Ding playing 20 Chinese GMs in 3 weeks and regaining his no. 2 spot. Not insinuating any foul play but there has to be an element of comradeship that dulls his opponents competitive spirit - keeping in mind his immediate objectives. That said I think Ding is a great player and a very nice guy who has been through several unfortunate events last 2 years.
I just bought a RAWR t-shirt, color white -- but is there a red t-shirt available, too? It looked as though white were the only color available, but if it's possible to get a red one, like the one you're wearing, I would definitely buy it.
Great vid, Ben! Hope Alireza can find his mojo again and do well in the next few tourneys and candidates. Plenty of neutral chess fans like us want him to do well, huh? Now I wanna ditch my boring 1...e5 stuff and take up the Caro-Kann :)
Ben, what is it with all of the kids playing the Caro-kann? It seems like the best regular practitioners that I can think of are Firouzja and Vincent Keymer unless I'm forgetting someone. All new theory in the Caro seem to come from them
The Caro is a new way of trying to play for a win, much more wins for both sides than in a well analysed Najdord for example. It's more exciting than it's dry reputation makes it seem.
I don't know what it's like to not know where to go for a beautiful Master level analysis of the best players in the world. Ben unveils the long occulted. 10 years ago Fischer was a myth, his relevance to a future world champ would be lost on us all. At least without years of study... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA I'll never study!!!! Going on 1400 with 1 year thoo, Never play f3
Magnus is the only person who routinely rolls Hikaru in blitz. It's a style thing. Magnus's solid style even under pressure is hard for Hikaru to break. A few years ago there was a rock paper scissors of Magnus, Hikaru, and Naroditsky. Hikaru owned Danya, Magnus owned Hikaru, and Danya weirdly had a big positive online score against Magnus for forever. Then Magnus started crushing Naroditsky too.
@@12jswilson Gotta be also a psychological thing by now. Naka obviously gets tilted and exccesively pressured (even if subconscously) when playing against Magnus.
Is it true that Alireza no longer desires going after the World Championship? He didn't play at Tata Steel because he's making a ton of money in fashion. Hard to want to be World Champion when your income is already more in fashion than you've ever made in chess.
Can’t wait for “great players of the future”, for players that were not born yet
He should actually do that, and make up a bunch of games for the video.

Booooo washed up gm
BOOOOO
Technically, it's a mate in two, but you still end up crying like it's a mate in one. xD
Ben lost 1500 rating mentally to make that move
mate in two******
Ben missing back rank mate really does show we're all human. 31:20

that final game is just so savage. relentless.
thanks for these series, ben. it’s really reignited my passion for taking chess seriously. cheers!
Firouzja will be the next World Champion Champion, and any GM Freezing playing against him
I think Dubov is more likely
True Ben. Firouza does watch your stream. Because everything you have been teaching us, he plays it!

The Alireza - Rapport was at the Norway Chess 2021. I was rooting for Rapport, but he played a really strange line because he had to win

The Billy Zane “Tombstone” reference at the beginning had me rolling. So many great lines in that film.
Ben you didn't like him in the past if I'm not mistaken. It's a good thing that I see now we agree, because I like both of you ❤️
People will see this lecture in 200 years from now and say how terrible his opponents where and how boring players today are way better...
Thanks Ben and thanks Zane!
Can we get a great Ben Finegolds of the present next
Great moment with Ben. Thx
Finegold, Adussattarov is like Feroza, Tal and Morphy. Show us some of his games.

black King G8, Knight F5, ....?
black is losing the bishop, 3 attackers vs 2 defenders. it cant move since its pinned to the undefended queen
