I remember hearing this song in bride wars but never heard the full version until this week! I was too busy working FT & raising kids to research the song 🩷
This song reminds me of my daughters. I lost my older daughter in a car accident in May 2020 Now I cry every time I hear this song. I want to thank the song writer for helping a part of me heal. I will forever love this song.
I hope you are able to listen to this and feel her presence comforting your broken heart. Losing a child never gets easier but a part of them lives on in our memories forever and as cliche as that sounds I hope it gives you a little bit of peace. Despite your beliefs, I think our loved ones never fully leave us. My heart goes out to you ❤
Hi Priscilla, I don’t know if you’d see this but I’ll leave it here anyway. In 2015, I had a huge anxiety order causing me to be sent to the mental hospital after the huge ruckus I broke into in public. I recall so much, listening to this song in my head, while I had to undergo my mandatory treatment without any electronics. I had trouble sleeping all the time during those nights in the hospital. And I’d always sing this song to sleep. I asked God who I'm supposed to be The stars smiled down on me God answered in silent reverie I said a prayer and fell asleep I am much stronger now in 2021. But somehow inside me, I’ve not completely recovered & I listen to your song as a reminder
I was 51/50’d last April from so much repressed negative emotions bubbling up at home from everyone…it’s difficult to let go and recover from. Especially when you know the hospital should’ve been one with a less severe nature. I hope you’re well and resting soundly with beautiful peace in your heart. You deserve every gentleness.
I love the Voice..i love this song !! I was a little girl Alone in my little world Who dreamed of a little home for me. I played pretend between the trees, And fed my houseguests bark and leaves, And laughed in my pretty bed of green. I had a dream That I could fly From the highest swing. I had a dream. Long walks in the dark Through woods grown behind the park, I asked God who I'm supposed to be. The stars smiled down on me, God answered in silent reverie. I said a prayer and fell asleep. I had a dream That I could fly From the highest tree. I had a dream. Now I'm old and feeling grey. I don't know what's left to say About this life I'm willing to leave. I lived it full and I lived it well, There's many tales I've lived to tell. I'm ready now, I'm ready now, I'm ready now To fly from the highest wing. I had a dream.
It's 2019 and I just discovered this song - thanks to "Legends of the Canyon" which was playing on a recent flight. In this case, definitely better late than never!
I remember when I first heard this in the movie Bride Wars, my grandmother took me to see it when it came out loved hearing this in the last scene I thought it was so beautiful. My grandmother is one of the people who raised me and now she’s gone. I miss her so so much and every time I hear this I’ll just think of her
Listening 2024! I Heard part of the song in the movie “Loving Leah”. I looked up the full song today. Beautiful voice and song! “I asked God who I’m supposed to be….”❤️
My 2yo daughter falls asleep to this song every night, we refer to it in my house as "the pretty song" which it is. I know this song is over a decade old at this point and I don't even know if this account is monitored at all but just wanted to let you know that this song has been the only thing to calm my daughter to sleep over the last 9+ months and we appreciate it.
this is the song that sparked my love for this genre when I was 11 💛 i owned her entire discography and listened to When You Grow Up from front to back literally every night, I sent Priscilla fan mail and she wrote me back and I still have her letter hanging in my room ! now I’m 21 and writing my own music 🥲
Our 11 year old pup Daisy passed away two days ago we’re still devastated we were by her side until her last breath. That night I dreamt of her and this song played in the background. I had not heard this song to the fullest until I woke up and looked it up! Our Daisy girl just wanted to let me know she was ready to go and she lived a good life! I will miss you so much Days! This song will forever be in my heart.
