Wow, I thought they only used narrows on this route! Cool trip report! Gonna be a while until my next video to/from either PHX or DFW, but I'll be uploading another American trip report next week :)

I'm pretty happy that they were using wide-bodies on short routes for quite a bit.

Why are they using a wide-body 777 as a layover from PHX to DFW? I figured they would put you on a narrow body like an airbus 320 or B737 to Dallas

They have to somehow get the plane to another city for the other flights so might as well make money while transferring it. But they do operate many other flights with narrow-body aircraft.

1 year late but looking back on this year it’s either to move the big planes around for flights or it is super busy
