People get so caught up in the bike. Ride what you ride, enjoy it, build memories and stay in two. I got a 23 fxlrs converted into an ST and it’s the best bike I’ve ever had. Crushed about 1k trip without a hiccup

Hey! I own a 2023 Break out and my wife is riding on a 2018 Street Bob. We live in Montreal Canada. We rode from here to Milwaukee last year for the 120th, over 2,500 miles in 10 days. This year, we rode 3,000 miles from Montreal to the Shenendoah Park in VA, then the whole Blue Ridge Pwy down to Cherokee NC, then the Tail of the dragon (yep, you sure have to do this!) and then we rode back through Tennessee, Kentucky, Iowa, Pennsylvania and New York to Montreal. 11 days in paradise. So long rides on a Softail, not a problem. I also used to have a Rode Glide and a Road King but changed to the Break Out for a more nimble ride. And I did not regret it! Got the Break Out in June 2023, put 13,000 miles on it so far. 😊 Ride Safe!

That Pacific Coast ride from SF to Fort Bragg. I have done that ride many times. It is magical. The "Avenue of the Giants," a 31-mile scenic ride in Humboldt County through the Redwood forest is a gem that people from all around the world travel to ride. If you have riden it, you know.

I should have gotten 10 tickets but not one. it was a hell of a ride great videos. keep em coming.

Rode my FXLRST from Reno to Southern Oregon after Street Vibrations, 350miles around 6 hours. I was the only softail in a group of baggers, loved every minute. Trying to plan my trip to Sturgis next.

I have an Iron 1200 currently. I have no want for a touring platform bike, but I have a DEEP desire for a Low Rider ST. I just can’t afford the price of a brand new ST though. I don’t ever see myself touring enough to justify a Road glide. My plan is to get a Low Rider S off Facebook marketplace, or used from a Harley dealer if I’m lucky, and convert it to an ST at my own pace. Save a few bucks. Love the content. Keep it up brotha!

@@angelopasotti7099 yeah I’m also not a fan of the ST gauge. The Low Rider S gauge is way more tasteful.

I went from a 2014 Street Glide Special to a 2021 Softail Sport Glide. I'm way happier and just as comfortable on the Sport Glide. I have a GPS with over 700 songs loaded and Bluetooth helmet speakers and it sounds better and I can hear it better than the system that was on the Street Glide. If you're doing only high speed highway that is the only time the Street Glide was just a little more comfortable.

I love the softail frame and for solo travel it’s perfect for me… if I was taking a passenger I’d definitely want to make them more comfortable and upsize to a glide… but next trip is 1200 miles to Florida

You made a great choice, for you. Also want to hear from Rich how a big guy fits on that kind of bike and what adjustments he's had to make. Trip to Canada, don't forget about the Friday the 13th rallies in Port Dover. Been there & was amazed. This happens every Friday the 13th regardless of the weather. Check out videos on it. Try going to Sturgis on that thing with a timetable you have to meet (2 days each way) then tell us how you feel ?
    I'll keep watching....

I set up my 2004 Sportster 1200 Roadster for touring - loved it and very comfortable. Progressive suspension rear shocks, Memphis Shades windscreen, HD highway pegs, HD Sundowner seat, Luggage rack and sissy bar, Leatherpros hard saddle bags and trunk bag (neither of which they still make). My wife says it was more comfortable than my 2018 Low Rider. My Sportster set up for touring was a true mini bagger. BTW, I've spent a bucket trying to make my LR comfortable for 2 up riding, including very expensive suspension upgrades, and while it is quite comfortable for what it is, my wife reckons I should have kept the Sportster. There you go. We now take the Pan America for the long rides and the LR collects dust in the garage. I've had to replace the rubbish HD windscreen set-up on the Pan America with the Madstad system because the stock windscreen re-directs the windblast directly at the passenger at highway speeds, even with the taller HD windscreen - just garbage!

I have a Low Rider S…added the cruise control and front crash bars to stretch my legs (6’ 2”). These make a big difference. I really don’t like doing more that 300 miles a day on it. The wind, the suspension, wear me out after a while. The ST is probably easier with the purposefully designed fairing.

  • @D-doggy77
    @D-doggy77 3 месяца назад +1

I got a Memphis Shades Road Warrior fairing fitted to my 23 fxlrs along with the HD Overwatch soft bags and hand guards, hoping that will be enough for a some touring. Just not a fan of the baggers and even the low rider st fairing is a bit much for my tastes.
I’ve seen videos on here of guys doing huge trips in Australia on groms/monkey and postie bikes so you can do it on anything but yeah it’s nice to be comfortable.

The lowrider. Has one counter weight to give the bike more aggressive feel. Just that fact alone causes fatigue on long distance rides. Suspension as well. You can’t beat a road sofa for distance. Age is also a huge factor, I’m 65 so I get beat up on the lowrider. I went to the Road Glide. Young people can endure more.

Hell yes! I live in California and yes the top of California (Oregon border) to the bottom (San Diego) on the coast (hwy 1/101/The PCH) is an amazing ride! Here's a good tip for you tho, the summer months on coast is super foggy and better weather honestly at the end of September and October and it a better time to go honestly.

I ride my Low Rider ST on long distances but I have it set up for touring. Sundowner Seat for Comfort, Tall Sissybar with a luggage rack and the big Harley Davidson luggage that can hold a weeks worth of clothes or other stuff along with my two saddlebags. I plug in my phone to the USB port and have my google maps and my downloaded music playlists blue toothed to my Cardo headset, Crush all the miles I want from there. 200 miles on a tank is about right cause I need to pee after that long. However, you living on the East Coast wanting to ride the West Coast, I would suggest you ship your bike to the west coast and fly an airplane to pick it up then do your coastal ride. Save you a lot of time and you get to ride your own bike. Cheers!!

The Low Rider has a larger motor than a Road King, and has about a 1/2" shorter wheelbase. With the right leather bags, it has just as much storage as a bagger as well. At that point the only difference is gas range, and that's arguably negligible. 3k miles in about 11 weeks of ownership so far - going cross country and back on mine next season.

As someone who owns a Road Glide, Road King Special and a Low Rider ST...
Just because you can do long distance on a Low Rider ST doesn't mean you should. To me it's great for a day trip but not a multi-day run. The comfort is just not there at the same level as a limited/ultra.
I can equate it to being on a touring special which with the stock seat and suspension makes it a painful proposition for a touring rider.

I also think if you are a small person light in weight a lower rider st you would find a easer ride a low speed and easer to manage than a touring model but if your not a small person and you tour lots then a bagger might be more your style like i always say you do you

If you want maximum comfort, you should drive a car, not a motorcycle. A Low Rider ST or a Bagger has the same comfort level since we all change the seats to a Saddleman type. Besides, tall people will have more leg space in a touring bike...

@@Marvelkid87 this is a bagger… its just lighter. But lets not act like its not. A Heritage is too. Basically this is a bagger for smaller people.
I like the bike. Considering getting one but it may be too small for me, which is why Ive always had at least one touring bike since 2006. The bigger chasis are more capable and fitting for me and larger people. But I dig this bike since it came out.

Why so many vids on why the smaller bike is as adequate as the bagger? Your trying to convince yourself you didn't make a mistake. The low rider is a bad ass bike but in no way is it equal to a touring bike on the highway. In my opinion if weight and size is an issue practice and technique is the solution. I know a lot of women that ride baggers with no problem with it's weight or size.
