A query from an Australian. Is the 10mph speed restriction at Accrington to do with curvature of the track?
More so to do with the condition of the track rather than the curvature I would have thought.
Also the height of the viaduct.
I think so. When the pacers were still running the year used to screech like hell on that bend so the low speed limit might be becuase pacer trains used to run on the line. Which do not like tight curves.
It certainly is a very sharp curve. Previously a junction too, though not many signs now.
Yes., the old Clifton junction railway, imagine how useful that would be today ?
I was confused at first that we were heading towards Burnley and colne, then I readthe title and realised it was going via todmorden.
