- The best moments from my movie footage of Etna's latest eruptive episode (paroxysm) during the night of 16-17 November 2013, including some of the finest exploding lava bubbles I've ever managed to capture on film (00:35, 01:01, 01:37, 02:05, 02:35), and a lot of haunting volcano noise. In particular, listen to the tremendous detonations at 00:56, 03:25, 04:48, and 05:10; these are certainly the best sound recordings I have obtained so far of such events. Have fun clicking on the times indicated for the detonations to hear them one after the other, and you'll discover that they sound very different (which is certainly due to the fact that I recorded at different locations). But the best bit comes last (starting at 05:43) ...
Some words about the places from which I made observations and recorded the various bits of footage.
00:00 Piano Vetore (upper southwest flank of Etna)
00:16 Piano del Vescovo (upper southeast flank of Etna)
03:03 Zafferana Etnea (southeast flank of Etna)
03:33 Santa Venerina (southeast flank of Etna)
03:58 Milo (east flank of Etna)
04:20 Mareneve road near Fornazzo (east flank of Etna)
05:06 Mareneve road near Monte Fontane (ENE flank of Etna)
05:43 Mareneve road near Fornazzo (east flank of Etna)
07:03 Fornazzo (east flank of Etna)
07:16 Tremestieri Etneo (south flank of Etna) Наука
That has to be some of the most spectacular footage I've seen to date. Those jets of ash and tephra that were being expelled from that one vent close to where most of the main activity was going on and being illuminated by were especially interesting. And some of those HUGE explosions of lava bombs and blocks were almost frightening. The shots with the moon in the frame were beautiful. You are as much an artist a a valued scientist. Thank you, sir, and BRAVO!
Thank you. So beautiful..just the sharing of the sound was priceless...you are appreciated.
Thank you Dr. Behncke. Amazing footage.
Extraordinary. Thank you Dr Behncke for sharing this.
Great beauty! Thanks for sharing. Much love to you, your family and all visitors! Sandra.
Beautiful work to get the mountain and the moon together. Well done!
I was mesmerized as I watched this. I've always wanted to witness it in person, but probably never will. Then to catch the full moon hovering over it was just spectacular.
that looks so dang cool, and the roar it makes is awesome
Looks like it is in slow motion but it is just much larger in scale than what we / the camera sees. Pretty cool!
Awesome footage, mate! Congrats!
Beautiful and mesmerizing.
This is indeed some of the best footage I've ever seen. Outstanding, congratulations on capturing this.
Incredible
Absolutely AWESOME Boris I love those huge magma bubbles!! If it were daytime you would see some very nice shock waves.

Sehr gutes Video von Mamma Etna!
The ones at 2:06 and 2:36 are spectacular...
There's only one word for this...Magmarizing.
amazing....really, i would like so much having an experience like this
Great work...best of all you didn't keep zooming in and out and panning from side to side as videographers often do. The scene with the full moon as absolutely breathtaking.
Great Video as usual for you Boris :) ,,but i love the fact that you dont have any "daft music" and all we can hear is Etna :)
absolutely beautiful, great work like always Boris, I hope to see you one day soon on Etna's flank!
Wow! Thanks for sharing! What an opportunity to witness such an amazing event. The video is so good, lived the points where the full moon is atop the eruption. Thanks again!

What ever will the environmentalists do with all of those volcanic pollutants being spewed into the atmosphere. They could lodge a complaint with at the UN and maybe even file lawsuits against Italy to compensate as Carbon Tax Credits (I think two environmentalist nut-jobs clicked the dislike button).
This, by the way, is outstanding volcanic footage - thanks for sharing.
Fully aware of it and its meteorological dynamics. The environmentalist need to determine which alien civilization is responsible for allowing Venus' greenhouse gases to get out of control and sue them too.
CO2 immited by all volcanoes annually: 0.3 Gigatons. CO2 immited by burning fossil fuel annually: 29 Gigatons.
You are in denial of facts on the ground. Fuck your strawmen arguments.
