Studio Mode makes perfect sense to me, because I use Cue Out like a drum bus and Main Out for everything else (for additional processing post OT). With this setup, Normal Mode becomes too busy, with cued [TRACKS] blinking 2 different ways whether they're muted or not. This is useful if you use Cue Out as a recorder input, but in my case a constant visual reminder of which tracks are going where becomes a distraction.
I use my cue out in studio mode as a send/return for outboard fx. In MKI of my liveset it was going to my tr8s for sidechain. But hey, each to their own! That's why I love the octa. It is whatever you want it to be.
You don't need to use studio mode to do that though, which is why I made this video; I see a lot of misconceptions repeated about cue functionality and its relationship to studio mode. The only situation where it would be 'required' for someone to use studio mode is if they want standard muting functionality to cut the send of a track to the main and cue simultaneously. Studio mode was implemented after the release of the Octatrack and was not present in the original firmware.
Pro tuto. I like using cue to send 2 tracks in an another Flex track for direct re sampling, play with scenes/ cross fader during recording and bam you have a new sound. Pretty awsome, best feature on Octatrack for instant mangling.
Hey Max, thanks for uploading more Octatrack content, it's always very welcome. In cue mode the track audio only comes out of either cue or main output, but in studio mode it comes out of both, hence simultaneous display of both levels. It would be good to see both levels simultaneously in cue mode. I too would like the option to quickly solo/mute main and cue volumes per track independently, then we wouldn't need to choose between the different modes. Its possible to p-lock the cue level using midi loop back techniques (cc47 for cue, cc51 for main), so you could mute/unmute the midi tracks to solo main/cue level, but I haven't tried this.
you do not need to be in studio mode to have audio come out of both outputs, you presumably have your personalize setting as 'cue mutes track' - personalize settings are system level and not project level so creating a new project won't change this setting
Thanks Max! Appreciate all your hard work on creating some of the best Octatrack content on RUclips.
Thanks. Once again your videos help with keeping up to speed on this amazing sampler.

thanks for reminding me of this .
always good to revisit fundamentals - making these kinds of videos helps to clarify my own understanding as well!
@@maxmarco thanks for your dedication!
Hi and thx for the video! What are the other options for muting cue and main send at the same time? cheers

max marco sure! But I don't wan't either cue or main. I want two different levels to each track so it's perfect for me. Each to their own
there are independent cue and main levels for every track regardless if you are in studio mode or not, I explain this in the video
This was very helpful and straight forward for someone who has never DJ'd before. Thanks heaps 🇦🇺
I always wonder why cue levesl do not fits to my track levels . I got answer in 30 sec :D , thanks
I guess studio mode is for when you just want two stereo channels out of the octatrack to go into a mixer
Thanks Max, I’m just discovering the cue output. Very helpful

The most clear explanation of the cue bus around... Thanks...
always great content with well articulated footage. thank you.
Nice overview. I only really use it for one thing; sending a kick or something similar to the sidechain input on my 3630. Works great for that!
@@robertsyrett1992 That seems so random, or maybe I'm missing something?
Do you have analog4?
nope, do not have an Analog 4. The Elektrons I own are Octatrack mk1, Machinedrum UW+ mk2, Monomachine mk2, and Analog Heat mk1

max marco HaHa, Yes you’re right. I completely forget about that setting. Back to the lab for me.
How u been? Long time
