      Have you done anything further with your S800. I got one with the pedal after watching your vid and it’s turned me into a total fanboy of the guitar. Having a full pedal set with looper and metronome functions I can use with headphones is amazing. By the way press the B&C pedals together to put the pedal in looper/metronome mode. It’s a great feature the instructions don’t even mention.

    The Dyna switch makes a lot of sense to me. One of the things that beginner guitarists want to do is to sound like their favorite guitarists, not knowing that the way their guitar is wired makes that a lot harder. Now with more options people are maybe a bit less likely to give up because their strat doesn't sound like Dave Grohl or something. Plus they don't need to know what the switch is doing to the guitar, just to the sound.

    • @ama5573
      @ama5573 2 года назад +6

      There has never been a beginner that didn't feel they sound like their favorite guitarist and it was due to pickup nuances.

    • @stephenceruolo2659
      @stephenceruolo2659 2 года назад +11

      @@ama5573 Eh, that was my experience to be honest. Plugging in my squier strat and not getting why I didn't sound like Billie Joe Armstrong with my guitar, and I tried every setting I had. Now I know more and I have an easier time finding other sounds. For curious enough beginners I can see this feature being a nice bonus. I could also see this as a move from Ibanez to give players ideas of what they want in their next more expensive guitar that will hopefully be an Ibanez haha

    • @SIRiAlerion

      I agree. I bought an AZ premium in my first year of learning because it offered so much versatility with the Dyna switch. I think it's great that Ibanez made a more affordable version but can't imagine playing an AZ without a roasted maple neck or those Hyperion pickups.

      Mooer GTRS S800 (with pedal) is the best money I’ve ever spent on guitar gear. That would be my best budget strat (although I know it’s not the cheapest).

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 Год назад +2

      @mattlau lol no the premium one starts at like 1500$ like your tele. That is a whole other ballpark man there is a lot of nice guitars for that kind of money than a premium AZ I feel. You could get an american made Fender Stratocaster for that.
      I think I would buy the Iron Maiden guitarist Dave Murrays signature Fender Strat for that kind of money. Also i am pretty sure the nice JEM Steve Vais guitars start around that price range.
      Even if it is a SE model The new 2023 PRS SE Mark Holcomb also is around that money and is a great guitar.

    I actually think the idea behind dyna-mix is a simple.
    When alter sw is off, 5-way switch works same as it would in basic stratocaster.
    When alter sw is on, 5 way switch kind of works like dual humbucker guitar. Positions 1,3 and 5 are the same as they would be if the guitar had 2 humbuckers (of course neck humbucker is in this case 2 series connected single coils). Position 2 is split coil bridge humbucker. Position 4 is the only weird one, probably because it wouldn't have made sense to make it like "split neck humbucker", because it would then be the same as alter sw off position 5.
    So basically what they have tried to do is to make one guitar that can be both HSS and HH. Which is a great idea for beginner instrument.

    I feel that this would be a much better project guitar if it had a 2 point trem, those old style 6 screw types have a real reputation for tuning instability. The wiring options are absolutely awesome though (I would need to keep a cheat sheet in my gig bag) and the heel carve is just so much more player friendly than those old style Fender breeze block joints.

    • @ianedmonds9191
      @ianedmonds9191 10 месяцев назад

      There is no other answer but the all hallowed VEGA TREM. The six screw version that fits with 4 screws is absolutely Alien Technology From The Future.
      It stays in Tune like a Floyd rose and it feels Ridiculously creamy when it's doing it and you can fit it to an 6 screw trem strat and it's small enough to allow a good deal of up bend right out of the box. It comes with 3 sets of springs so you can tailor the feel to your taste.
      It's a bit expensive but I've never bought a guitar modding product I'd recommend more.
      It's the best trem I've ever played with.
      I'm not a shill I just bought one.
      I upgraded the cheapest Harley Benton strat to have rainbow set lace sensors, Tusq Nut and String trees. Ratio Tuners and the Vega Trem. It's an amazing guitar now.
      The Vega trem is the standout feature of it.
      Believe the Hype for once.
      Luv and Peace.

No 2 point trem, stainless steel frets, cheapo looking jack and cop out heal carve. I would have taken all that if they just did the roasted neck. Throwing something out there - that "high e string only" riff that you used to demo the alter switch really doesn't present it in the best light. The series re-wiring, particularly of the neck and middle pickup, really shine on lower notes and chords moreso than it does on high e riffing.

    I remember in the very first days of the internet, when I was still using dial up and waiting 15 minutes for a single photo to load from the top to about half way down...yeah if you are old enough, you know exactly what I'm talking about. lol. But anyways I downloaded like this super complicated wiring setup to change my strat wiring to include flipped phase combinations of my single coils and also what was called on the message board I found it on at the time as Hollywood grounding, where I took aluminum foil, the high end stuff that you would use like gold foil to cover something, and coated the entire section where the electronics go to shield the electronics from outside interference and then couple this shielding to the bridge via a resistor and or capacitor combo that gave the guitar some legit electromagnetic/electronic isolation and that guitar played and sounded like a dream. One of these days I'm going to recreate that and this guitar is beckoning me to do just that. I would love to change it to either a hardtail or a high end floyd rose trem and put some top notch tuners on it and then maybe some super cool aftermarket pickups along with anything else I can think of. I mean you can't beat the price no matter what. This thing costs less then my first guitar which was a Chinese Fender Squire Strat, and I hated that guitar because it would never stay in tune no matter what. I spent as much time tuning it as I did playing it and I never really got the sound out of it I wanted, I upgraded that for a Japanese Strat and it made all the difference in the world. I loved that guitar. I wish I still had it. I can't even remember what or why I did with or don't have it. How sad is that. I have had Ibanez guitars since and honestly I am a huge fan of Ibanez. Their guitars always pack a lot of bang for the buck and always seem to be set up a lot better then any other brand right out of the gate. And that means a lot to me I think. I mean if I pay a grand for a guitar and then I just have to turn right around and put it back in the shop to get it set up well, that sucks. I never understood that, but a lot of guitars don't come set up very well, or at least the didn't back in the day, which was a wedensday by the way, but these days they seem to be getting better about that.

And, I think the leads you are now adding are interesting and add to the overall demo track. God job Hunter!!

    The only problem I have with most reviewers is that the guitar being played is down tuned to A or even F these days and distortion out the wazoo.

    Only some of the higher end AZs has 24 frets, the MIJ one with 2 chrome humbuckers has 22 frets and so does the HSS version. Oh and for the cheap ones, the SSS doesn't have a tremolo, for whatever reason.

  • @Xcorgi

    The only downside to this guitar is that it comes stock with a cheap plastic nut. Even Squier is making bone nuts standard in most of their guitars and Yamaha is making GraphTech nuts standard on most of their Pacifica models for good tuning stability. This is especially important for tremelo equipped guitars and the fact that they are only about a $5.00 item, there’s NO EXCUSE for Ibanez to not put them on a guitar they’re branding as “essentials”. Because there’s nothing more essential than tuning stability.

    I feel like I disagree that giving news players more tonal choice is "overkill" I can't tell you the untold hours and times I have up trying to get a single coil tone out of my humbuckers and legitimately believing "tone is in the hands" was the problem

    One of the reasons I got rid of my AZ Prestige was that it was honestly overwhelming feature wise - and I say that as a person who's modded most of my guitars

    • @trentvalentine9
      @trentvalentine9 2 года назад +1

      BTW, if this guitar is wired anything like the Prestige, you don't be to just drop new pickups in lol. After looking at the inside of mine I decided to just not even try to mod it.

    I wanted to get a 2nd guitar with a sway bar so I thought this one would be perfect. Had it at GC and I picked it up and ended up just trying to keep it in tune over the next 5 minutes. Put it back on the rack. Have to admit that every other guitar in that price range was the basically the same deal. Best was the Sire S3, but I wanted a humbucker in bridge position. Gave up.
