- Hey everyone,
Finally here is a little test drive of the beautiful A3 TFSI e 40.
I am focusing only on the hybrid technology, on what is new and different compared to the older a3 e-tron.
Still not a Quattro unfortunately.
It is important to procise that this car exists now with 2 engine classes, the 40 TFSI e and the 45 TFSI e. The difference between the 2 resised in an increase of power via a control software that will add 41 HP and 50 Nm. The difference of price is around 700 CHF more for the 45 TFSI e.
WARNING : the 45 TFSI e is only available with the S Line trim.
Technical details :
Electric motor : 80 KW = 107 HP and 330 Nm
Fuel motor : 110 KW = 150 HP and 250 Nm, 1.4 TSI, 4 cylinders
Combined for the 40 TFSI e : 150 KW = 204 HP and 350 Nm
Combined for the 45 TFSI e : 180 KW = 245 HP and 400 Nm
40 TFSI e : 0-100 KM/H : 7.6s
45 TFSI e : 0-100 KM/H : 6.8s
Battery capacity : 13 kWh (12 kWh usable)
Max EV speed : 140 KM/H
Hi from Scotland, thank you for the review - very interesting.
Hi from Switzerland.
Thanks to you :)
@@funcarreviews you gave a real insight to what to expect from driving an A3. One of the best reviews I've watched.
@@saintuk70 Thank you. I m trying to do my best for my viewers to explain as much as possible to make things easier for you :)
I liked how you made this short test, giving us a few interesting information. Anyway , I still can’t understand what version you’re driving: is it the 40 TFSI (204 hp) or the 45 TFSI (245 hp) ?
Hello, thank you very much. I knew I had the least powerful one. I just didn’t remember the number 🤣🤣. It was the 40 at 204 HP. I added it to the video description below 🤗.
Hello again, I finally got a chance to drive a 2023 A3 in Canada for extended time since my 2016 A3 e-tron is in service for recall. Sadly no A3 TFSI e models in Canada, but the only A3 we have is the 40 TFSI quattro but it has a 48V MHEV drive system. Yes the new 8Y A3 has MUCH better driving dynamics than our old 8V A3, and maybe because my loaner has quattro AWD it feels rock solid. The new MMI touch is very good and even though the 40 TFSI has a 2.0L turbo engine, the 48V mild hybrid is very fuel efficient.
Hello, 😊
So weird you do not have that model in Canada. Indeed the dynamic is better. MHEV does help a bit in terms of consumption but also, and if not mistaken, you have the cylinder on demand (COD) on this version.
Are you considering switching or still prefer the original A3 e-Tron ? 😁
Great review, can’t wait to pick mine up in March 🤞🏼
Thanks to you and I am glad for you. Congrats :). Keep me posted of your day to day use impression if you want 🤗. March will come fast.
What is it like? Does it drive well and what mpg are you getting?
It is great that in Europe you can get the A3 Sportback 40 & especially the 45 TFSI e. Audi North America clearly did not sell enough A3 Sportback e-tron back in 2016~18 so now you cannot buy a new one here anymore.
Indeed that is sad. But maybe it ll come back some day. Fingers crossed.
Lane assist - driving people INSANE since it launched
Well at least you can deactivate it 😁
Cool. So Beautiful backround and excelent car. What is this country?
Hello,
It is in Geneva, Switzerland :)
More in a industrial zone / countryside.
Did you feel like you had plenty of room in the cabin? How comfortable was the cars interior?
The car is very comfortable. I bought it and I love it.
Front has enough space.
But if you are a big person and put the front chair more in the back, it will be a bit short for people in the back.
Dear sir does your car have the ambient lighting across the dashboard as in other Audis A3? It really makes a change for night driving
Hello,
Yes indeed it does.
I don’t remember if the basic lights are by default (with limited colors) but the one I have has 40 colors (something like that) that came as optional.
@@funcarreviews thank you for your immediate response! Have a happy new year!
@Octavia102HP no problem. Happy new year to you too 😀
Hey I have one question. Bought one already for me. But want I wanted to know the lady in Audi didn't know about the car is the regenerative paddles behind the wheel, can I use them has gear shifters when I put them in battery hold?? Like a semi automatic or not? Thank you
Hello,
Using the paddles will put you in manual mode, with whatever mode you are in (EV, auto, hold, charge). In this M gear mode you ll indeed regenerate the battery when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal 🤗, the car braking slightly.
I have the 40 tfsi e, i really like it, I wish I could have opt in for the 45 but it was not available :/ can you actually see a difference between this 2 versions? it worth the update? I'm thinking of make stage 1 but im not sure if worth it.
Hello,
I wish I had the 45 too but I didn’t like the color on the only one they had. So I bought the 40. You should feel a difference but I never tested it. The upgrade is not that expensive but I guess I leave very well without it. It should consume less battery on the 40.
Dear sir, does your version have this amazing ambient lighting across the dashboard? Is it standard or extra? Thank you
Hello,
Mine has indeed the 40+ colors lighting option. Definitely an extra for all those colors but I don’t remember what is the default.
What's the long term fuel consumption, anyone? I'm looking to get this but not sure if I should just play it safe and go for the 30 TFSI
There is no unique answer to your question.
It all depends on your driving style, distances and modes and capacity to charge your car when you need to.
If you are always on EV, then you ll have 0.
If you are always empty on the battery, you ll be higher than usual.
I am maybe around 4 L/100KM, mostly driving EV, and auto hybrid when on highway.
I’ve done driving economy for about a month (EV, engine when necessary like highway) and I was getting around 2.3l/100km with the 45 TFSIe
What's the Electric range (real world)?
Hello,
Unfortunately I was not able to test the range.
50km real, in suburban (70/80km/h)
@@federicolizzi1480do u have this car?
Hi thanks for the video, what is the battery range if you drive in dynamic hybrid mode assuming 245hp on the 45 tfsi?
Hello,
This would need a long test drive (I do not when I ll be able to do that). Are you talking Dynamic in EV mode ?
I did not see in a garage the 45 yet.
How do you get that cool animation on the MMI screen?
Hello,
Which one ?
@@funcarreviews I think you called it the energy flow system. The one with the green lines for electricity and orange for petrol.
Never mind I bought one and figured it out for myself
What's the REAL (tested) 0-100 of 40 tfsi e anche the REAL 0-100 of 45 tfsi e
Hello,
Unfortunately it was not possible for me to make the test.
@@funcarreviews you are sure that the Electric motor of 40 and 45 tfsi Is the same ? 107 hp?
I have checked on the Audi site and in 2 specific Official Audi documents. They do mention that for both cars the output of the engines are identical (what I have mentioned in the video description. They mention that this power is generated through a control software. Now what that really implies behind the scene, I do not know.
By the way I do understand that you are questioning that. I do find this a bit strange too but I did not find anything stating otherwise since I wrote it.
en francais ca aurait été mieux

L’accent c’est pas possible
Pour le sans accent y a la version française 🤣
Work on the sound quality, the way it is, it is unwatchable! Thumbs down!
i found the sound perfectly fine !
Thank you very much 😄
I totally disagree the sound was nice and very good I found it rly hard tho with the camera quality to see the screen maybe think of upgrading in the future or changing position. In general tho better than most ppl I've seen and since you were reading out loud what the screen was saying lots of the time it didn't bothered me at all good try keep it up 😅
@redflagy8 thank you 😊
