I believe this is the first video I watch from your channel. Very well presented with the kind of information I would actually want to have as a potential buyer. Great, professional hosting!
I can't believe some cars do not come with rear view cameras as standard. I drive a Subaru Impreza and it has been standard on that car, which is the lowest Subaru model, for 5 years. As of 2018 they're required as standard by law here in the US. Great review though!
A legendary car, which year do you have? Yes, a lot of vehicles nowadays don't seem to have it included. It's quite baffling, especially past a certain threshold. Glad you liked the review!
I have one in Daytona grey - its brilliant. From my journeys, based on Google Map distances, I'm easily getting well within Audi's claim of around 37 miles in EV mode.
@@TotallyEV Its funny as most runs have been less than 40miles, so in the 4 weeks I've had it, I haven't actually used the petrol engine. I have had one or two niggles where its thrown up an 'SOS Function' Error and the MMI is a little buggy but its been great so far.
@@TotallyEV it's seems like a widespread issue with VAG where SOS malfunction light comes on randomly in the dashboard. Theres also other MMI issues which at the moment looked unresolved according to those with a new A3 in Audi forums.
You're right, from our written review: "As for colour options, it’s available in ‘Ibis White’ at no extra cost. The pictured ‘Turbo Blue’ is a £575 option, and so are the metallic finishes: Navarra blue, Python yellow, Glacier white, Mythos black, and Tango red. The ‘Daytona grey’ pearl option will also set you back the same amount."
Nice review, just to correct you, blind spot assist is available as an option, it’s called lane change assistant with exit warning system and comes also with rear cross traffic alert (£425).
Thanks for the pointer Mick; we couldn't see any mention of a blind-spot monitoring system anywhere in the brochure, spec sheet or via Audi's web portal; are you sure the option mentioned actually integrates a visual indicator?
@@mickkeighley2210 thanks for sharing, but in the video, you can clearly see a yellow LED by the side-view mirror; that's not the case in the model we had for review. We shall ask Audi to confirm, thanks for the pointer!
That’s because the model you had for review did not have the option fitted. You said it wasn’t available as an option. I’m saying it is available as an option on the A3 40tfsie as I have specced and paid for this option on car for Mrs K. Very useful option but pricy. Should come standard like many things on a £36K Audi A3. Keep up the good work.
Indeed, but it wasn't an option through Audi when researched at the time - it wasn't fitted, that's a given. We've reached out to Audi for comment, thanks for the pointer, and glad you enjoyed the review (and the vehicle!)
I'm currently driving this car and don't like it for the following reasons: No blind spot indicator ( this baffled me as it comes standard on a lot of cars), the lane assistant is keeping me from enjoying the ride (I'm being pushed around a lot), it tends to brake without wanting so (like when entering a tunnel or when going downhill), the parking camera becomes too blurry to use when it rains a bit, but most of all: SPACE. The little space in the trunk you have is for the charging cable. I'm pretty sure I can come up with more reasons but these are bugging me the most.
I'm very tempted to trade in my astra phev for this one especially since they both have physical buttons. The drive is very comfortable but the pure panel containing the sat nav and infotainment is not very good. Plus I'm getting just 12 miles ev range after a full charge costing around £ 5.40 off peak. The charging time is about the same as the audi.
I have a A3 Cod s line 4dr atm, Ive looked at these hybrids ..for someone who barely goes long distances but mostly 3-5 mile short rides to work and back every day would this be a great car to go for?
@@TotallyEV sorry if I get in your discussion but actually BLACK LOTUS is a typical PHEV user! Mainly short trips and a few long journeys ... exactly what PHEV are made for! 😁 Why? Because the DC chargers (above 150 kW) infrastructure is not yet satisfactory! I don't know precisely in the UK but if the guy wants to travel across continental Europe ... well, 150 kW (and above) chargers are the exception. Unless you own a Tesla. Car manufacturers tells you "the car takes 40 min. from 20% to 80%" ... yeah, sure! If you find a superfast charger with (real) 150 kW and up! Or else you may have to wait 1, 2 or even 3 hours to fill up your battery! Imagine that in winter with a (already) limited range! It means a 500 miles trip can take easily 5 or 6 additional hours on your planned schedule! A real pain! And here comes the delight of a PHEV 🙃 ... in 5 minutes you fill up your car and you're ready to go!
Air con is the biggest battery killer, putting the aircon to on instead of eco drops range by 2 miles straight away, I have the 40tfsi e s line with 18 inch wheels and get 36mile range. Don’t drive slow either so I feel your figured are a bit off. On the motorway I get 110mpg and normal driving on normal roads 70mpg, driving on normal roads with no charge so petrol only around 30mpg
Every conditions are different, but our tests remain the same across all vehicles we test; be it BEV of PHEVs. Of course, you can attain more or less depending on how you drive (plus what mode it's in!). Thanks for sharing anyway.
How long does the battery last when you're using it in combination of electric and engine? It's the one figure I havent heard, as I guess you can't maintain 70-110mpg indefinitely
I did a 110 mile journey on a mixture of roads including snake pass in the north of England, fast roads and managed to only just run out of battery at the end, averaged 96MPG and the cost to charge the car was 45p
This is a fantastic review and well delivered, however I thought the 0-60 you mentionedwas in the 45 not the 40 as I'm considering this as a next purchase or possibly the Golf GTE as it has better performance
Glad you liked the review! Indeed there are a few different engine variants. As for the GTE, great all-rounder, but it doesn't have the same driving dynamics as the Audi.

@@TotallyEV nope, my A250e has a 15Kw battery and the Audi has a 13. In summer, I get the full 44 miles sometimes, in winter it can drop as low as 20. I assume the Audi does the same, so off one charge, you’re looking at 15 miles in cold temperatures? That’s why I think they should have done a lot better with the size of the battery. On the flip side, the Audi has a dual clutch gear box with is nicer to drive than my engine in the a250e. The A250e pulls off in electric when the engine mode.
