Because we can and this is how we've been doing it. We have all the tools to do the job so why not use it :) and you may get confused with Apple T2 macbooks. Which is not this one :)
Man, there is NO ONE in the entire EUROPEAN continent that would be able to do what you have done here! I have had my A1278 MacBook Pro now to the fourth place and none of them were able to do away with the Firmware password. I think I'll have to buy a used A1278 or an A1389 from Ebay! What a shame! Great work, though!

Hi I have a old MacBook Pro 2010 A1278 and was wondering if the chip method would work
Looks like were are cursed with our A1278s! No one can bypass the Firmware password!

Why do all that. Put the unit in dfu mode and connect to another Mac. Run apple configurator and choose restore. It will wipe the password
