This is my first time commenting on one of your videos but they have been such a lifeline as I navigate my own unemployment after quitting my first corporate job in May of last year. I have SUCH a scarcity mindset too that has really been kicking my ass as I navigate over a year of struggling to find full-time work and feeling super behind my other late twenties peers. Learning that there’s no magical age where I figure everything out and that it’s never too late to change your life has been really comforting during this weird in-between time.
Evelyn, thank you for sharing your journey with overcoming scarcity mindset when it comes to money! I super appreciate your vulnerability. and really related with that term of "artificial hardships." That hot pot looked delicious, and I'm glad you're learning to treat yourself. Your video inspired me to reflect on my own relationship with money. Keep up the great content, and enjoy that new laptop when you get it - you've earned it! 🌟💖
i love this video so much :"" ) mei ku ying chi has rly created subconsciously putting ourselves in familiar situations even if that situation is toxic/not good for us
I feel like it's necessary to upgrade daily tech drivers (like your phone/laptop), especially those you use for work, every 3-4 years. Yeah it sucks to see the money out, but these things literally affect and change our day-to-day even if they don't make the money back directly. The quality of life upgrade/maintenance is worth it. Might be a good practice to assess the value of what you're about to/want to buy. Question if you're letting the cost get in the way of the value you can get. You're ultimately paying for the value it brings you. If you had not bought the coffee under the scarcity mindset, you may not have gone out at all, and maybe be stuck working at home but not nearly as productive. If you're more productive working in public and you see paying for the coffee is an investment to get the job done, then it's worth it.
Aw, as a Chinese American living with my parents again, this is relatable. My parents experienced a lot of hardship in their youth; by contrast, I have much better conditions than them, but I'm also on a journey of growing out of the scarcity mindset. I'm reminding myself to strike a balance and be realistic - I can comfortably afford spending a few extra $$ every now and then. Life is short, might as well enjoy it instead of worrying over every penny. Happy to see you living your life ❤
i resonate with your laptop story. I bought an Iphone 11 to film tiktok videos nearly 2 years. I had considered a lot about whether it is worth the money. I ended up buying and have been satisfied with my decision
I'm so happy everytime you upload a new video! I'm also struggling with the scarcity mindset, my parents have never been frugal, however, I left home for studies since I was 18, and I've created along these years that mindset of "I need to get my life together and I won't get it if I splurge my money" However, lately I've found how that mindsent of not deserving nice things is impacting more than my finances but how I see myself in other areas like relationships.
Pls dont worry and feel pressured about getting a laptop for the views. We followed you moreso bcos of your story & journey 🫶🏼 God bless you & ur channel even more! 🙏🏼
I'm a 30yo corperate dropout too... totally get your scarcity mindset.. but I guess we just need to see what we've got now, learn to enjoy the progress and work on it for the best 共勉之 :)
I also grew up with this kind of parents, especially my mom, she was always reminding us that expensive things are pointless , and always thought bars & restaurants are for lazy people who don't like to cook... I realized this when I started going out with my bf and/or friends, and I would feel very guilty every time I was going out to a nice restaurant, or even buying some nice clothes, even though my financial situation is now quite good. I could literally hear my mom's voice in my head scolding me 😂 I feel like it is a very universal problem to have grown up with a scarcity mindset for people our generation (I'm also 30)... and I am definitely not going to wait until I'm 65 years old to start enjoying my life. Indeed, a very necessary conversation! thank you for this video, and hugs from Spain❤
It's a new video! Really love these life updates and lessons. I have been watching your videos for a couple of months now, especially the ones on quitting job and expenses as I prepare for my own. Now that ive actually tendered and serving now notice, I feel even more connected to you Evelyn (plus we're the same age!)
Thanks for sharing. Am pretty much going thru the same thing. Having covid that almost killed me made me spoil myself more. If I really want XXX for lunch today, I'll treat myself to it vs before I make myself "earn it" mindset. Wish u the best and look forward to the next video.
Thanks for your advice.❤ As a new grad, I haven’t found a job yet and my parents who experienced a hard time in their childhood and youth always push me too hard 😂they also hope me get married …. I feel super strong scarcity mindset in the past few months. I recommend a book which makes me feel a bit peaceful -- 《弘一法师 人生没什么不可放下》. During the long pause, I find I know myself better. I was so mean to myself. I am my own boss now! I have enough time to do “useless ” things which help me grow a lot actually. I also find that I can live with just a little money. I try to love myself instead being so mean. I am much better than before even though I still have pressure.
I personally do still have this scarcity mind set to a degree even now, but I've got to a point in life that I have my own home, car and able to start decorating my own home slowly over time with things that I want over sharing with house sharing. Let's see if I can turn my mind to justify spending what is worth it!
I really loved this video 😅❤ You are inspiring as always. That being said, I'm really mad at these 5$ coffees or teas as they are simply not worth the price... So I actively choose not to buy them 95% of the time, and bring mine from home or buy it at work which is obviously cheaper.
Hey tapio , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
I think given that you live in China, and considering the recent political discourse in US, you have the opportunity to make a video that would really pop and blow up your channel's subscriber count: "I Ate Nothing But Dog Meat For A Whole Day"
“I am worthy of experiencing good things in life, I don’t have to justify that.” Love that, gonna start using it ❤
From a future corp drop out: I also feel that scarcity mindset deeply... thanks for the tips!
i was really nervous that no one would relate to this🥺thanks for sharing that you do! glad it was helpful🫶

So enlightening when you said “I am worthy of experiencing good things in life. I don’t have to do anything to justify that.” 🙌❤

In current, I'm at the same situation with yours, just dropout corp, so your share is definitely benefit to me.

:14 surprised view! (don't do that) Wonderful voice. I have channel no editing.
